- In today's video we"ll make an attempt to start this abandoned 1993 Corvette 40th Anniversary Six Speed Coupe that has been sitting unused and improperly stored for many years.
Watch as I discuss the three main required for the engine to start, show how many miles are actually on this car now that the BCM has finally begun to work properly, and then attempt to get it cranking and fired up.

People who don't fix cars say a lot of stuff ... I can't tell you how many people said something was junk till some nice clean up or fresh paint was put on and it's a different story ... If it doesn't take much to get the car road worthy the some fresh paint will do wonders... On the other hand leaving the paint the way it is would help to make it theft proof ... It's all in what it's worth & how much you put into it ... Ps I know it's with more with original paint
Yea, it's pretty sad how negative some people get. For me being in the car hobby/business has always been about the camaraderie and shared interest for these awesome machines.
That is a diamond in the rough.
C4's in good basic condition are great cars.
You'll find that most people that complain about C4's have never owned one.
The LT-1 , C4's are a well balanced 3,100 + pound car, with 300 horse power.
Great power to weight ration.
With the right rear end gears and the six speed transmission, those cars are great canyon rockets and road racers.
Looking forward to more videos.
Take care
Couldn't have said it better myself👍.
Every Corvette is worth saving! The great American sports car. I find it amazing that cars that sit for long periods of time want to start with some starting fluid and a battery.
Definitely cars worth saving. It is puzzling when that happens, but we all know life can definitely get in the way.
That's always fun when you drag home a project, and get a little good news off the bat. "Cause you know it's coming lol. That's a car worth getting on the road and having some fun (or letting someone else run with it). Well done.
Exactly. It's the perfect present leading into the Christmas season😁.
Looking forward to seeing more videos on this C4 , nice job 👍🏻
For sure, this one should come together pretty quickly.
Once you put a NEW Battery things will change and the speedometer will work. Just put a NEW Battery in my 93 Convertible and the security system work's where before it wasn't I believe because of the driver door push in button telling the computer "Door Ajar"and I put adhesive tape untill RockAuto part comes in. Anyways I'm happy for you as I have to put mine in storage by the end of the week Rhode Island weather
Yep, I know it's cold up there. Youre 100% correct anout the battery. C4's dont do well with weak or bad battery. They need a full charge for all the complex systems to operate correctly. Confirmation of the actual mileage and firing off with starting fluid was a great development for this car, and just ensures it will be on the road much sooner than I originally anticipated.
New fuel system, tune up, tires, breaks, belts, hoses, detail, and your good to go !
That's it, pretty low stress resurrection.
You have to have the headlamps on to make the cornering lamps come on. They only come on when the turn signals are activated while the headlamps are on.
One cool quirk I liked about the C4 are the side mounted reverse lamps. I wish more cars had that feature. The only other car I remember having something similar are SAABs.
Yep, lots of cool lamp features on the C4 Corvettes before it was considered cool to have lamp features👍.
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 Amazing
for sure, I was pleasantly surprised.
Magnificent !
Yep, it's a pretty cool find👍.
Save it!
Thats the plan.
Wow you lucked out Brian, opti spark is alive. Looking forward to upcoming videos on this car; the mileage is so low making it very desirable to any potential buyers if you choose to sell. Thank you for another entertaining video..
Yea, this was a great find. I'll be sure to have more videos documenting the process shortly👍.
Great car looks like she wants to live. Thanks for the content
I agree, they are begging to be driven. Appreciate it, I'll keep the videos coming👍.
Finding a good classic like that with only 26,000 miles is rare. Great find
Yep, I'm excited for this one.
Love the videos this is Tony from Lake charles la. hope all is well.
Hey man, good deal. Didn't know you had found me here. Give me a call this week if you have time, my friend👍.
@@VetteSource will do i have a few questions for you lol
Excellent👍
I cant wait to see this car cleaned up wow what a deal you got there !
Yep, I'm looking forward to working on it.
I'm currently in the process of redoing my 91 C4s engine harness, it's come out to be much worse then I anticipated. Do you have a 91 auto corvette engine e harness for sale??
yep, gotcha covered
Hello there. Great video! It inspires me as I also love Corvette's. Even though I don't own a C4, I know for a fact that an old battery will cause all kinds of electrical gremlins on C5 and C7 regardless if you have them on a charger. If you have any issues electrical wise, a fresh battery might be the fix. Great work! Corvette Dan.
Hey Dan, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing the battery information. I forgot to mention in this video, but the C4 will actually let you know the battery is low through the "SYS" flashing display on the cluster. I'm sure the 40th will start behaving properly once I put a fully charged battery in it.
@@VetteSource Thanks for the reply. I see a C4 in my future someday!
For sure. There are plenty of good ones still out there👍.
@@VetteSource Yes there is. From basket cases to trailer queens. I'm looking for a nice driver to learn about the C4 in great detail. And I know the hidden secret to the C4 (and C5). Miles means nothing! Thanks for the reply. Corvette Dan.
looks like a runner
That it does👍.
Selfishly I’d love to see how you fix it up. My dad left me his and I’d like to finish up a few things on it that could use replacing. Only thing is I know nothing about cars so I’ve been looking around online to learn from people who know what they’re doing. 😅
Well, you found yourself in the right place👍. I'll have another video in a few days documenting the fuel system cleaning and fill-up so we can get it started. Let me know if you have any questions.
@@VetteSource Thank you so much!
Brian, looks like you will need to paint 🎨 the vette same color as my 89 vette. Had it buffed out its beautiful.
For sure, I wish a good cut and buff would save it, but the clearcoat is trashed and the paint is just flat gone on the top of the front bumper. After I get everything sorted out mechanically it will find its way to the paint booth.
Don't forget the cornering lamps only work with the headlights on.
You beat me to it 😂
good catch, thought I still had them on but got distracted and must have turned them off when it actually tried to start
glad i checked the comments before i said it
What is that sticker on the right side of your gauge cluster? Is that something that came on all vettes but you remove it or is that a permanent sticker? I’ve never seen that before. Cool that it’s still in tact.
Hey Timothy, that's an informational sticker installed on the assembly line for the new owner when the car was delivered and meant to be removed. It basically tells the new owner that the analog gaugea are about as close to "dummy" lights as you can get without actually having them. Like you mentioned, the fact that it has survived all the years intact is very cool. I am going to do my best to preserve it in its original location.
Check those RPOs...Z07 would be quite a Christmas Gift!
That's would have been awesome! It was the first thing I checked on the Service Parts tag, but no luck. Of course since they removed the original springs for the coilovers, I could always "make" it a Z07 if I ditch the coilovers and take it back to original suspension.
@@VetteSource I think you have to change the steering rack too
Definitely, and that would be the one item that would keep me from doing a conversion to Z07 components. C4 rack and pinion assemblies have become quite expensive lately as the core supply has dried up.
Hello Brian I enjoy all your videos I hope you and your family had a good Thanksgiving Brian I'm going to ask you a question if I find a good 93 Corvette anniversary series or a 1995 black rose Corvette in very good condition and just a driver that I could drive every day and if I take good care of it keep up the proper maintenance I change oil all that stuff that you're supposed to do can you put a million miles on these cars the C4 Corvette? Thank you for your time and again I like to wish you family a Merry Christmas and happy New Year to you and your whole family
Kenny, Merry Christmas to you and your family as well. I think properly maintained a million miles in a C4 is definitely possible. Unless you drive 100K miles a year, I would consider that a forever car, sure to last you a lifetime. I know they're out there, juat keep your eyes open and ears to the ground. Talk to you soon👍.
the cornering lights will not work without the headlights #C4stillrealavent
yep, we discussed that a few comments back. Thanks for chiming in. Like the hashtag...
Curious what kind of money you paid for this great find. I got a 92 last year and have torn it apart a few times. Good looking car you got there. Lot of potential
I usually don't like to disclose that in case the party I purchase it from doesn't want people to know. In this case I can tell you it was under 3K.
@@VetteSource that's awesome man! Great deal. Wish I could have picked it up myself!
Sometimes the sun shines on you. Best thing to do is keep your eyes open and ears to the ground. You'll never know what falls in your lap.
its a keeper, i'll give you 2k for it...
2K, plus another 5K market adjustment and it's all yours😁.
Nice how much you cop it for?
Not too much, under 3K
@@VetteSource not bad at all !
You should get a hold of a CZcamsr called Legit Street Cars. He is doing a build of a C4 Corvette and he needs a roof. I know he's having a hard time locating one. Maybe you could help him out.
Hey Frank, thanks for the suggestion👍. I'll get in touch with him. Funny his C4 is a 40th Anniversay car as well.
@@VetteSource That's what I thought about it. When I saw you had the same car it rang a bell in my head.
Yep it's easier to find what you need in the comments sometimes rather than searching through videos😁.
Will you be selling it my son is looking for a deal on one
Possibly, but my daughter has already been eyeballing it so she can learn to drive a standard. She's not interested in being like the rest of her friends😁.
I'm getting a seizure from you constantly moving the camera.
Man, sorry to hear that.
