I think the final season as a whole is the prime example of something (outside of problematic writing, etc) falling under the weight of it's own complexities and ideas. Also probably why Martin is having issues with the final two books, because not is he going to have squeeze everything left into those, but also make it clear what the story is truly about and saying.

Great video, agree with all points. Tho I want to add one thing in dany section, her inner conflict is very similar to jon's one that of wants vs duty. using fire is a way to get it. In book1: all she wants is to go "home" , have a family, live a peaceful & comfortable life as a simple girl & not a item to be sold, then she connects the idea of "home" with westroes(saw a thousand red doors). Play's her Duty as khaleesi book2 : dodging all wrong doors/illusions/temptations to meet undyings one & asking what's the truth. in book 3: she calls slaves as her children not only cuz she believes she is infertile but she has a whole to be filled with love,care,affection & be connected with others at intimate level which she didn't had. Also she for similar reason tries to Self-love. she could have gone straight to westroes yet instead of flying off ,chooses to rule for her "Duty". Book 5 : puts aside her desire again for duty. i also don't think she would burn KL willingly, rather either for coming to terms with her father's legacy, or play with perception against young griff. Making anyone in story "mad" is lazy & in direct conflict with what martin says how he doesn't like Dark lord villians who do evil just cuz or he likes to write abt human heart in-conflict plus missing the whole point of "OTHERS" , be it cersei/dany/bran.

She had already finished the show by this point, and every now and then she would mention how bad S8 was, and how I would be impressed at just how downhill it would go. I thought to myself, it couldn't be that bad right? Everyone's just exaggerating right? Well... Please let House of the Dragon have a good final season.

I will always watch retrospectives of GoT. I rewatched it for the millionth time with my girlfriend for her first time and even she noticed a change in S5 onwards. We watched HotD this week and she is relieved there's some good fresh GoT content.

Here’s a little peak behind the curtain: the night of the Game of Thrones finale, I was actually watching ‘The Phantom Menace’ for its 20th anniversary and I thought everyone was having a great time watching the GOT finale while I was miserable watching TPM. Turns out we were ALL miserable that night. (I don’t know what’s more unbelievable: ‘The Phantom Menace’ isn’t the most disappointing thing released on May 19th or that there were TWO giant franchise disappointments on the same day 20 years separated from one another!)

My only hope atp is that Jon Snow can get his spinoff and that continues like s1 of got. pace, character dynamics, and of course storylines.

Normally like your takes, but most of these thoughts are you spinning the character themes to attack an ending you didn’t like. OMG your dismissal “yes, Jon did the thing that I said the character had to do”. And you keep saying “the writers” but each beat is straight from GRRM. And when you say “why not this idea” you’re saying “I can write better than GRRM”

I miss GoT and I will never forgive D&D for ruining it. At Least somehow we know how HOTD ends.

Also I don't think Korra needed a team. She needed people able to teach her how to act, people like Tenzin but better at that than Tenzin. A whole older crew would have been better in her case. While Aang needed other kids, because the war robbed him from a part of his childhood, and because his former friends rejected him. Avatars maybe share the same powers, but they are completely different persons with different needs and situations to face. The comparisons between the two are most of the time forgetting this.

I’ve said it since day one, GoT season 8 is awesome and I rewatch it all the time. I would explain why I think so, but the time may be wasted here!

Awesome video Man I am just loving your channel. Loved this final season of the clone wars. I was so psyched but I had no idea how much I would actually love it. The excitement I had for this was close to the excitement for a movie coming out that I’ve been waiting two years to see. One thing I’ve always thought that would be really cool would for Lucas film to either do a live action, Star Wars movie during the prequel era with the cast of revenge of the Sith, but also adding Ashoka and Maul See the prequels, but through the eyes of the animation of the clone wars. I think this was as close as we’re going to get to that. And I love that as you’re getting towards the end, it’s going back-and-forth between the clone wars and revenge of the Sith. Look, I know everything the last few years Star Wars hasn’t been great, let’s not get it twisted if someone is saying everything that has come out under the Disney banner with Star Wars is trash. They made up their mind a long time ago that they’re just going to hate everything under the Disney banner. Yes, I agree there were some mistakes but there’s also been some really awesome stuff. this final season of the clone wars that we got is some of my favorite Star Wars content ever.

I know I’m in the minority, but I think the final season and finale are good. Do they have their problems? Absolutely. Do some of the characters get endings that are terrible and don’t fit? No question. But the season does have some great moments. The first 3 episodes are fantastic (with Knight of the Seven Kingdoms one of the best episodes of the show) and several characters and stories get endings that work. The production and music are great and the acting solid as ever. I will forever maintain that if the season had at least 2 more episodes to pace everything out, it would’ve been accepted more. Dany becoming bad fit and would’ve been better if they paced it out better. Again that’s just my opinion. I know lot of people hate how this show ended but I can’t hate a show like GOT and how great it was.

People do not understand that converting a person to the Light in an afternoon is not the same is doing the same thing to a person for 20 years. It's draining and it can change you drastically, especially if after that much time, you fail. Luke's character arc development portrayal ages like fine wine. The ST also had the benefit of doing that better than how Vader's change was done in the OT.

Straying from source material can be good in some cases it can refine an idea that might not have been properly executed. The problem is the source material is part of the greatest fantasy universe ever made written by one of the greatest authors to ever write fiction.
