Nope, that ain’t Brunswick stew. Might be good but just ain’t. Thanks for the effort.
What is Brunswick stew?
Dang ready actually went hard!!! I love this!!!!
😊 It was a good day!! 🐠 🐟 🎣
Hi! I want to learn more about steaks! I have never made one, never been to america, the idea of eating a whole loaf of meat sounds...not disgusting, but definitely fiendish, but this culture is very intresting to me! Your channel seemed like the perfect plece to learn about steaks😊
I’m beginning my journey on attempting perfection of a Brunswick Stew recipe. Carey Hilliard’s version (I grew up in Savannah) and honestly Castleberry’s canned version + Lima beans have been my all time favorites in the past. The “ground thing” seems to be quite rare but I think it is a game changer in the direction of perfection. Perhaps, the cheese and milk too. Your recipe stood out by far when I was looking for one old, authentic and approaching a porridge consistently. Thank you for sharing. Wish me luck on honoring your family’s recipe when I give it a shot tomorrow.
Good luck! Please do let me know how it goes!
Brother made pepper stew lol!
And it was good too!
👍🤩💝 First of all THANK YOU for sharing the recipe & FOR PUTTING THE RECIPE IN THE DESCRIPTION BOX.🙏💝 🤔Cheese? Milk? I’ll try it. 😋
It’s the little things that matter…

Where do you get your oil from? The prices around me have seemed to skyrocket. Even Amazon wants $80 for 3 gallons of peanut oil but i need more than that. 😵💫
Sam’s club!
@@HoundHogsOutdoors mine doesn't carry peanut oil, only "pure clear frying oil." It has a high enough smoke point, but isn't peanut oil supposed to be better and make crisper skin?
Might be seasonal. Fry oil would probably be fine just slightly different flavor.
@HoundHogsOutdoors well, that would be fine then, as fry oil is only $41 for 4.5 gallons. Peanut out is going for between $55 and $80 for 3 gallons..... and I need 4.5.
@@HoundHogsOutdoors also, ty for replying!
Did he really snort the Tony's 😂😂😂
He actually did. One of the dumbest things I’ve seen anyone do… but at least he knows it was fresh!
Ok ok I’ll try cooking pepper jelly ribs this weekend
Great video! I may have missed it, but I assume you season both sides?

@@trentwade5788 nice bro! I’ve got 3 or 4 floating around lol
Its been a few years since i fried any turkeys...so im just kinda looking around to freshen up,i like you turn the flame out after raising the temp over a bit...i will definitely be using that technique this year...I'm doing 3 birds averages around 16lbs each.
Sounds like a good time to me! I did 5 turkeys this year. Prime Rib for me for Christmas! 🤌🏼
Ohhhh now I gotta cook some dang stew !! And I feel you on that cooking a big pot, the Lord have mercy when my family finds out that I am cooking Brunswick they all start coming to the house😂 only thing different I saw with your recipe then mine is in shredded potatoes. I'm going to have to give it a taste test like that one time. I was raised with it only having creamed corn and crushed tomatoes, splash of mustard, a lil splash of my dill pickle juice and some "sop" (hot sauce mix). I can remember in Georgia, they'd be cooking a whole hog head, whole chickens and whatever kind of beef that was leftover. I'm ready to come eat with y'all now! Not to mention how thankful I am for my thrift store $2 gallon rusted cast iron pot I found for $5!! Cleaned that puppy right up!!! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!
I freaking love cocos!!!!
It is a beautiful device , however I was unable to get alerts on an iPhone unless the phone was unlocked and the app was in the foreground. Were you able to get alerts to work? Thanks!
We never have had any issues with getting alerts! I’m sure their customer service can help sort that out.
Where's the bone?
This was a boneless cow.
Where can you purchase the ribeye slicer
@@candycampbell589 270smokers.com/products/ribeye-loin-slicer
Can you use compound butter?
Yes. Some people do, but don’t overdo it in complex flavors. Too complex and the judges won’t like it.
@@HoundHogsOutdoors Ahh food is subjective after all. Can you elaborate on what complex and "too" complex is like?
I would keep the compound butter simple. Maybe a little rub and a slight touch of herb. But if you go trying to make it with a bunch of different herbs and flavors, it may become so “unique” that less people are likely to like it. The best middle of the road steak wins because it pleases the most judges.
Grill marks or crust?
We’ve done well with both.
@@HoundHogsOutdoors Awesome! I'm figuring out if the judges or people in general know just how much better a true crust is vs what a typical steak is shown to us in multimedia
It all depends. My grilled steak tastes better than the average persons seared when we’ve done side by side comparisons. So it’s all in how you treat it. You will average better scored with grill marks in the SCA than a sear but can do well with a sear.
I miss this so much smh
According to Zach, this really is a spot on recipe and he says it tastes just like it!
MOST WHO HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DO THIS SAFELY NEVER CHECK THE AMOUNT OF OIL NEEDED TEMP AND NEVER SHUT OFF THE BURNER BEFORE LOWERING THE TURKEY.
Shutting off the burner is 🤌🏼
Great video. Very much appreciated there wasn't lots of unnecessary dialogue. Had my first fried turkey last week and plan on frying one myself for Christmas and will use all of your suggestions. Advice: IMHO, please consider real old peckerwoods like me that are hard of hearing when determining the volume of the background music. Sometimes CZcamsrs drown themselves out and ruin their own production. This one, for me, was close, but okay. I'm more interested in what you're saying than anything else. Have an AWESOME Holiday Season!
Thanks for watching! Good luck on that Christmas turkey 👍🏼
KFC 🌮 RC coloa baked navy beans ri Rice-A-Roni with shrimp in it make it rain fried corn fried KFC chicken you make it your own mashed potatoes and gravy you got to have the mashed potatoes and gravy fully loaded baked potato with chili and cheese or you can fully loaded with butter and bacon bits and lots of cheese and onions fully loaded baked potato fried onion rings deep fry Willie Nelson gas afterwards feeling like chicken we really nuts and cooking gas through diesel engine smell like you've been cooking all night long when you're willingness and gas
The way that turkey looked i give it a 10 looked good im hungry.
U guys need to find a Puerto Rican grandma to teach you how to season a turkey.
For some reason that’s not available on InstaCart around here so I guess we are out of luck
Great video
Thank you!
Can I pet that dawwg!
Tell me where your friends are 😂😂😂😂
Question: what's the best substitute for peanut oil? I have BAD peanut allergies...
Maybe try “fry oil” from like Sam’s club or vegetable oil.
@@HoundHogsOutdoors thanks
Gonna try this tomorrow. Wish me and my house luck. lol. Hope I still have a intact home after tomorrow. haha!
Good luck bro! No worrries on keeping the house intact if you cut the flame off as you are putting the turkey in!
@@HoundHogsOutdoors Reporting back, it went good. The turkey was perfect. It was also everyones first time having fried turkey and they loved it. Will be doing it again for xmas. Thanks for the vid.
Heck yeah man! Thanks for sharing.

Best Turkey in the world hands down
We think so too!
(3:02) I guess every turkey desires a happy ending?? 😳
Note that the inside of water hoses are often full of bacteria that can be harmful
Not sure it matters since it’s going to be heated with the oil to 370 degrees! Also, we drink out of water hoses and it ain’t killed us yet!
White man here. I'm with black man on the slap. He gets it. Happy Thanksgiving, all.
😂
I recommend unless you have a potable water hose to use a clean picture of water.😊

I always thought you wasn't suppose to cover the pot creates steam water and oil doesnt mix
Doesn’t really make much difference
Great video, thanks for sharing. I'm wondering about the 325 degrees part? Most other videos say to fry it at 350. Can you tell me how you came to 325 and does it make a big difference at the end??? Thanks in advance for any response
I’ve found not trying to push the temp too high after the bird is already in makes for a better color on the outside. Run it to 350 and you risk it getting dark on you, especially if there is a little sugar in your rub. Think of it as low and slow frying, but I wouldn’t go any lower than 325.
@@HoundHogsOutdoors Awesome thanks. Yeah, I've seen some black ones out there. LOL Thanks for the response and great video.
As a white man, this looks tasty
One tip - if turkey comes in a bag, leave in bag and do the water measurements so you don’t have to have turkey water and fry it additionally
We’ve done it both ways. I like to have my turkey dry in the refrigerator for 24 hours, so it’s coming out of the bag anyways, and it accounts more accurately for the cavity of the turkey and the giblets that are taking up space in the bag. Either way works for sure.
Injection is a good way to dry out meat. You just punched holes for all the injection and natural water in the tissues to leak out.
And it looked really dry too
I will give you a thumbs up. Could have done without the silly sexual innuendos. Slow motion on the juice injector. Slapping the ass. 12 inch probe.
What size turkey was this
14lb in the pack
