Thanks for checking out the channel. My name is Kenny and I live in Minnesota. I am sharing my passion for traveling with a four star hotel room in the bed of my truck. I still work a regular 40 hour job but spend my free time exploring the back country. One day I would love to live full-time in my truck camper, but for now I have all the same responsibilities as most of you. I try really hard to get out a weekly video showing what I find on my travels. I appreciate you coming along.

Discovering a Remote Lakeside Campsite in Northern Minnesota

This Week I'm taking you north into the Paul Bunyan Starte Forest. It was a great weekend. On Friday I was stressing about finding a camping spot. The forests have been so full of campers this year. I have been having a harder time than usual finding empty sites, especially along rivers and lakes. I called by friend Jack during my lunch break on Friday. He suggested heading up to Paul Bunyan State Forest and parking in a wooded pull-off. Thats exactly what I did in last week's video, and it would definitely work out, however Jack suggested taking the e bike up to a beautiful vista where a fire tower once stood. I decided to locate a few potential spots before heading up there. I was so happy I made the drive. I found 3 spots in total; the first one had signs saying no camping. That didn't make it into the video. The second spot had potential I may have to check that out some weekend. The 3rd was an absolute beauty!
Saturday was a wash. It rained most of the day. It wasn't a hard rain, just an annoying mist. I'd hear claps of thunder every once in a while, but it never turned into a soaking rain. The humidity and dew points were crazy high. The air felt so thick you could chew on it. Saturday night I wasn't feeling like eating. I was tired, wet and spent the majority of the day sweating. Thats when the true potential of the truck camper shines. I turned on the air conditioner, took a shower and spent the last few hours of the day watching CZcams. Don't get me wrong, Saturday was still an awesome day camping on the lake. I attempted to catch some fish. I cleaned up the campsite and rebuilt the fire pit. Toby and I went on a few walks, and I really got to see the beauty of Northern Minnesota.
I hope next week I can come across another campsite just like this one. Thanks for coming along on the weeks adventure.

I really am highly fond of your channel and demeanor. 😢 The thin blue line cup 🍵?. As an old school American Marine, find is distasteful. It is an adulteration of Old Glory .. and serves to further DIVIDE the populace and the servants in government. Don't get pulled to either side of the debates . Just look, at the surface, that blue line, is a DISSERVICE to the ethics and morals of USA.. I prefer a time when police were not DRAWING A LINE between them and us.. You cant see it?

Recently moved up to NW Minnesota from Texas. I fulltime RVed with my 3 Labrador Retrievers for two years, and sold it last August. I miss the dispersed camping so much. But I think tent camping is more in the cards. Great video, you are a calming soul.
Kenny, what square fire starters do you use? They seem to start the fire up right away, unless that is creative editing. Ha! Thanks.

Why in the world would you live in MN ?
It's beautiful up here. The extreme cold in the winter, 50 below zero and hot, humid summers with mosquitoes the size of humming birds keep the crowds away.
Always have a backup fishing pole. I bought one of those small three foot poles. When it's cooler out here in Arizona I keep it in the truck.

Man this looks like a dream. I'd love to do that for like 4 days. My dog, the word, and a fishing pole.
My dogs have chewed on so many, uh, forest bones and never hurt them at all. Dogs are made for that.
You'd be surprised how many people would have scolded me and called me a horrible pet owner for letting him chew on the bone. One thing I learned about introducing Toby to the Chanel is that A LOT of folks have an opinion on my dog, and their not afraid to share it. I even get people swearing at me for not feeding him steak or bacon off my plate. I'm serious. People called me an F-ing ahole for not sharing food off my plate. There are days that I hate reading the comments.
