- On this episode of Kenny of All Trades we experience the thrill of overnight camping at an abandoned animal research center hidden in the Chippewa National Forest. Follow me as I venture through this creepy location and share the interesting finds along the way.
I took a vacation day Friday in order to make a longer video. I have been getting a lot of requests for longer videos. I really hope you enjoy this one. It was a great relaxing weekend. I'll see you again next week.

I so miss going camping with my boyfriend, Bud, who's passed away at 61 from leukemia. How he loved the outdoors and cooking over a fire pit. We had the best of times. Precious and all too short😔 Thanks for taking me with you🙏🏼

Toby is so cute. Thank you for adopting him. We adopted our dog Bandit from a Rescue organization. Best Decision we made.
My partner and I are retired and bought a camper last year. We really enjoy watching your videos and incorporate your laid back attitude into our daily lives. We now say, "It'll be alright" or "I'll think about that tomorrow." We think it's great and thanks for sharing yourself with us and others. Toby is the coolest dog. As an advocate , for 30 years plus with this breed of dog, .I have to say, you have made awesome choice. Toby will be a loyal and faithful companion. He is the only animal on earth that will love you more than he loves himself. just do your research on this type of dog. You will definitely want to defend him from the haters. Pitties are a misunderstood breed, but factually known as one of the best! Heres to many years with Toby!😊
Couldn't agree more! I've been doing rescue and advocate work for many years. Pitties are so misunderstood, and some of the best dogs. I have my own in home house/pet sitting business with so many different breeds. 3 of them are pitties that were rescued from some very abusive homes. And they are the sweetest babies. Another great video Kenny, and yep still loving Toby. I love when he gets his energy spurts, he's really starting to come out of his shell. It's going to be such a blessing to us viewers and watch him grow.
Thank you so much. I have been socializing Toby. We go into Pet Smart once a week for a walk. We get to see the other animals in the store, and people tove petting Toby. I like that people in Pet Smart have their dogs on leashes. The owners at the local dog park let the dogs run free. Then, people get into yelling matches when one dog gets aggressive towards another.
I have an indoor cat and 2 outdoor cats. Toby likes playing with them. Mandi keeps Toby 2 nights a week. She has Tilli, the big Rottweiler, who has been in a few videos and an indoor cat as well. I know the pray drive is strong in this breed. Im hoping to properly socialize Toby so we don't have issues with cats when one takes off running. I've been watching a lot of videos on the breed. I'm super excited, and Toby is taking really well to training. We are done with potty training, and he is doing well on the leash.

The creepy music is a nice touch. I sometimes camp in the boundary waters alone and it can be a bit spooky back in the woods at night. A squirrel can sound like a bear at times when your senses are heightened.
So happy to see it was just a technical issue last week, Toby looks like the perfect companion for you.

Those woods were creepy & my imagination ran wild as soon as the title said "abandoned animal research center"! This was an Amazing Adventure...Thank You so much for sharing this wonderful time with us. I will have to ask my vet about getting Rosebud's DNA tested. She is obviously a pit bull mix (her face looks like Toby's & she just doesn't bark!).....perhaps white lab the shelter said. I would really like to know so I can plan for her future health! Your love for Toby shines like the Northern Lights...he is such a wonderful pup!

For sure. One of the viewers lives close by and is going to talk with the forest department to get them closed.
Old coffee cans have been a catch all for us for years. Excellent “grease cans” to random nuts and bolts, lol.
When I was a kid, my Dad would take us camping and the dutch oven was the primary cooking tool. Stew, Cobbler, and other excellent meals...
I’m living in my bus with my Great Pyrenees and Toby is such a great companion. We used to make dump cake in the Dutch oven in our Scout outings. Used pie filling and 7 up. 👍🏻👍🏻
I had a pit mix just like Tobi. It took only one day to house break her, she never chewed up our personal possessions, and was very chill. Best dog I ever had and I miss her terribly.
Proud Minnesotan here , I love your channel for many reasons but not least of all how you show how underrated our state is. Just don't get too big , we whanna keep it that way :D
I appreciate that! I've had people call me selfish because I don't give specific names and directions on CZcams. I tell them that searching for these spots is half the fun. Plus, when you find them after driving around for hours, sometimes days, you realize how special they are. If I make them easy to find, they will get trashed. I don't want Minnesota to have the issues BLM lands are experiencing.

Jumped on here-taking a break from early Spring Cleaning/Decluttering 28 years worth of military collecting…we won’t speak of it-and went to the part regarding Toby. He has such gorgeous eyes! Cobbler looked delicious. A friend made cakes with 7-up. Super good. Now the peanut butter fried egg sandwich 🤢🤢🤢. Not so much. Toby is so cute and low key. I’ve never seen such a .good puppy.

Our pop-up is a 2006 Viking Legacy, 2 queen beds, heat and fridge. I've got plans to re-do the vinyl flooring and I'm putting in A/C in a few weeks. Just enough room for my wife and son and myself. We love camping and we love your vids. Thanks

Kenny, you crack me up! you were practically wringing your hands together saying “and we got ice cream”. Then your night walk getting all spooky and side eyeing the woods. Your videos always make me smile, especially now with “The Tobers” What a gem you found in him. You found a very nice camp spot. The drone views were beautiful, with all the ice melting from the shore, and white paper bark on the birches. Thanks for all you do for our entertainment.

I found some old government airal photos of this place. It was a really big setup. Send me an email if you head up there. I'll let you know where to find the old maps. I wish I had them for the video. It would have been cool to look at the old maps for reference while exploring.
