How about not participating in behavior that would cause you to have std's, so that you can show your babies affection. There's nothing wrong with parents kissing their baby. Babies need to know that their parents love them.
My mom was an RN and she showed me all the STD's in a book. That was enough for me not to fool around. Be safe friends.

Have had them since i can remember. Most people get them as kids from their family kissing them (yes, even on the cheek) and/or drinking/eating from the same things as parents. Stigma behind it sucks.

I’m not trying to scare you or anything but I suspect I had hsv2 for years(just been diagnosed this year) either from a SA that occurred when I was a child due to symptoms that I didn’t think were symptoms of hsv. If not then it would be from my most recent partner and even then when I got tested for an std panel nothing showed up positive, years later I decided to test again but I SPECIFICALLY asked for an hsv test bc you have to ask for it, they don’t automatically test it unless you ask, and it came back positive. I suspected I had this for years without knowing bc the “symptoms” that I had, if I can call the hsv symptoms, were extremely mild(singular bumps that were mistaken for horrible ingrowns) that were noticeable but only showed up here and there whenever stressed. Chances are you are likely to have hsv and not showing any symptoms bc people go years without knowing they have it. And more people than not have hsv. Condoms also don’t protect you from hsv, so chances are you got it still even if you’ve had protective sex. The reason why majority people have hsv is bc it doesn’t affect you(in most cases) and people spread it without realizing that have it. Get tested regularly and ask for a hsv panel testing.

This is why I tell my dental patients not to share drinks with their kids or even kiss their kids on the lips. Once you get HSV it will always be in your system. I will not treat a patient that has fluid filled lesions on their lips until the blisters have burst and crusted over which means they are no longer contagious and are in the healing phase.

What people also need to understand: canker sores and cold sores are NOT the same thing. Cold sores are on the outside, canker sores are on the inside. HSV1/HSV2 can cause cold sores, but canker sores can be caused by stress, sodas, acidic foods, cutting the inside of the mouth on sharp foods like chips while chewing, etc. Even some conditions like Crohn's disease and Colitis can cause canker sores inside of the mouth.
Also note that as a child you can get HSV from a parent, family member or friend by simply drinking after them if they have a cold sore.
When I was a kid, I thought pop tarts gave me cold sores, and reading this made me realize all these years later that they were probably canker sores 😆 thank you for this clarification, it helped me

My grandfather used my orajel (for teething) on his cold sore and I ended up hospitalized at 7 months old. My mom had told him not to do that and he did it anyway. It was in my throat, on my lips, my chest, all over. I was tied to the bed for over a week so I wouldn't accidentally spread it to my eyes or whatever. My parents say it was basically torture, and my mom never forgave my grandfather for what he did.
As an adult, I've had shingles and Bell's Palsey twice. It's like I have no natural immunity to the virus at all. Thank God it never spread to my lady parts!

I had that since i was little. Very severe outbreaks every now and then. The only thing that helped was getting oral aniviral pills a few times a year. I went through 3 years of treatment (i was lucky to know a doctor because my gp didn't want to prescribe it). I haven't had a sore in 4 years since the last treatment. I wish more doctors were willing to help patients suffering from it. And yes, i still have the virus in my system, but not having active breakouts improved my life quality immensely.

I had cold sores (i guess thats technically herpes lol) when i was a kid like 10? Years old that time period and i assume its from sharing drinks bc lol i was a child and not up to nasty things 😭😭 but as an adult ive never had it. Havent dealt w it since i was w very young kid thankfully

I contracted it through a relative, I think. I have never been sexually active and had HSV1 since childhood. On occasions I would have a flare up usually during colds or when I'm super stressed out. I think HSV1 may be genetic. Like if your mom has it you can also have it. I think . Not sure . Also not sure about hsv2, was wondering though if that’s the case or not .

When I was about 15 I babysat for this young mother that went to my church and had a 3 year old son. She was really traumatized because something really bad happened to her son when he was being watched by one of her creepy friends. The friend let her son pick up a coke off the table that the woman had been drinking from and put his mouth on it. The child got such bad herpes all over his face and down his mouth and throat. It was horrible. Never let your children touch drinks that other people have been drinking from, you just don't know.
I'm sure the kid probably was taught late not to touch things that weren't his. Most people I know get these from child hood. We can be the generation that helps the up and coming ones by not kissing babies on their mouths or sharing drinks etc. If u get these, get a bottle of tea tree oil! dap on the area as soon as you feel the tingling sensation using a qtip or cotton ball. You won’t break out in cold sores! And if u do get a cold sore treat it with tea tree oil, dap on a little bit every few hours, it heals your cold sores so much faster! Hope this helps someone!
One is far better off using an antiviral medication to treat it. Tea tree oil is not supported by evidence and it will irritate an already painful lesion. Just use the antiviral cream or tablet.

Please be very careful y'all, he didn't mention how those blisters can go away and later show up again during a "flare" so people can be infected with it and have no obvious symptoms. Be very careful who you choose to be intimate with, ask them all the important questions and be safe.

I dodge a bullet, started talking to this older woman I met on a date site, I told her before we were intimate we needed to get a std test. She was ok with it but then she started sending me provocative pics I guess to get me to say the hell with the test lets go have sex. I have this, haven’t had a flare up in over a year. When you’ve had this for a long time you learn when you feel one coming. Typically it takes 12-24 hours for me to be a full blown flare from initially feeling it. I use lysine. The pills and the ointment. Both from any pharmacy or Walmart. Legit. I feel the flare coming, pop lysine and use the ointment, and it never comes. Just kinda goes away. It’s a really small window for catching it before it shows. Just some helpful info for anyone who has this and goes through that 2week flare with no idea how to stop it and nothing works.
If I don’t catch the flare and start my lysine late, it shows a little, but scabs after 3 or 4 days. So it still does the job. Hope this helps someone.

I got the common one when I was younger, and obviously still have it. I thought everyone got them (like the flu or something) but then I found out, and it’s honestly not an issue to me. I get a cold sore maybe 2-3 times a year, for like a week at a time. It’s not fun, but it’s far from the end of the world. I really forget about it until I see videos like this. I could give a shit about it, cause I’m still alive and enjoying life. That’s all I care about lately. I’m still alive 🙏

On that show-Doctors- they also say that oregano oil is a good natural topical treatment for these type of outbreaks, gives rapid healing time. May be a bit potent & a bit strong like any other essential oil, fyi. You can find them at any pharmacy, Whole Foods, any place that sells essential oils, or Amazon, etc… Just giving info, I guess results can vary but hopefully the info can be helpful to people who suffer from symptoms such as this. 🤷🏽♀️

I went on a 3 week cleanse and didn’t have a cold sore for over a year afterwards. Well worth the effort; I had regular breakouts since I was a small child. Some cases were severe and extremely stubborn to home remedies like ice cubes, rubbing alcohol, vinegar, etc. They’re painful and humiliating. If you don’t like the idea of taking pills (the pills for breakouts down below also work for the breakouts on your mouth) this method worked well in my experience.
My family got this from my aunt. She’d kiss us when we were little not thinking about her cold sore. It’s awful to deal with especially when you’re a kid. I haven’t had one for about three years now but it’s there and will rear its ugly head when you’re most vulnerable. Like your brothers wedding. Yay.

It’s a pill form vitamin. It will usually shorten the symptoms. An outbreak usually last 7-9 days. Take this and you’re looking at 2-3 days.
And ppl understand they do not check for hsv1 or2 unless you ask, it’s not in the routine std labs.

Quick tip I just learned. L-Lysine HCL 1000 mg vitamin stops cold sores in their tracks. 2000 mgs every 2 hours for a few days and then scale down after a couple days. To 2000 mg s twice daily.

People need to get tested every 3 to 6 months, especially if you’re sexually active. bloodwork urine work people need to start being smarter about what’s happening to their bodies so they can help prevent stuff like this. Had this shit my entire life and I’ve never had it this bad…

My daughter got it from sharing a drink at a young age. They take forever to go away. She started using a need to drain them and they healed a lot faster that way. They didn't look as ugly after she drained them too. But you have to do it early in the blister. And don't rip the skin. That will cause scaring. I used to tell her to make sure she cleaned everything both before and after. Her face, hands, needle and the sink area.
My sister dries hers out with an alcohol pad so she doesn’t have to open the blister or worry about it spreading. She uses an over the counter medicine afterwards that she applies with a q-tip. Whenever she’s ready to apply, the alcohol swab also helps clean the area so the medication is fresh on the sore.

I only get cold sores in the Autumn because I have fall allergies.

Yes and most Drs are uninformed of the blood test and won't bother looking into it or doing a blood test, most only will test if if the patient has a visible outbreak. It's people who have the virus but don't have symptoms that are more likely to spread it because they don't know they have it.

HSV1 is not an STD. HSV2 is an STD. Please stop misinforming people. STD stands for s**ually transmitted disease meaning it can only be transmitted through intercourse. HSV1 can be transmitted other ways other than intercourse (I.E: congenitally; mom to baby).
I get them every so often mainly if I’m overly stressed or my immune system is down. They hurt so bad and I barely wanna go out in public with them. I try to stay less stressed and not share drinks with anyone.

There's no such thing as getting rid of the herpes virus completely. Once you have it, you have it forever and can get flare ups if your immune system is low. You just managed to clear the outbreak you had but make no mistake, you still have herpes and need to disclose that with your sexual partners before you make your problem someone else's lifelong problem too.

I suffer from cold sores. My hubby is a dentist. When I start to feel the tingle he uses the hand held laser to kill it before it even develops into a blister. We’ve been doing this for years. Most private dental plans in Canada will cover this treatment. And.
