@Paulie G Crowded House were formed in Melbourne Australia in 1985 by 2 Australians and a Kiwi (Neil Finn). They produced 2 world wide successful albums as that trio, until 1991 when Tim Finn joined for one year and one album, and then returned to a solo career. After that there were various other support musicians from other countries. By any measure around the World they are Australian, however as an Australian I yield that we call them Trans Tasman or ANZMUSICAL, or something!!!!!!!!!

SO glad you reacted to this gorgeous song, Jay! Neil Finn is one of my favorite songwriters and musicians. Out of many, many other great songs, here are a few: "When You Come", "Private Universe", and "I Feel Possessed." Songs from his previous band Split Enz: "I Got You", "Message to My Girl", "One Step Ahead", "Give It a Whirl", and sung by his brother Tim Finn: "Six Months in a Leaky Boat", and "Dirty Creature." Split Enz was actually more Tim's band for most of their existence than Neil's. Tim and Neil are from New Zealand.

Lead singer and writer is a fellow Kiwi, Neil Finn, his older brother Tim Finn also played in the band a bit. Both have done songs together too and Tim Finn was in a band called Splint Enz before this and Neil Finn came and sang in that bit too near the end of their existence. Croweded House broke up for ages and the drummer (an Australian) passed away. In recent years they have been playing again.
This song made number 2 on the USA billboard charts.

I can’t believe you just did this song. I grew up in small town Ohio with good family friends the Miltons. Andy Milton who sang back up and played bass on the album. He would jam outside and sang to me when I bought my own guitar and showed it to him. His dad got transferred from California and Andy was pure talent. He went out to San Francisco later and played in a band called The Squares and they never made the big league. Sadly he left us early. He was my oldest brother’s friend, so when you’re 12 there’s a big difference when someone is 17. He, my brother, and I walked across the street cutting through a double lot to his house one night in the dark and he grabbed my hand for security. I thought I would die. Oddly I dream about him quite often. I guess the message is he’s someone I want to remember.

      • "Into temptation, knowing full well the earth will rebel"

Nope. He has said that he wrote the song at his brother's house. Paul Hester (the drummer of CH) was also living there at the time and had some friends over that were getting on Neil's nerves.
