This song reminds me of my wife who dreamed every day. I didn't understand her dreams until now because of this song. I love her dearly and now see what I could not see for so long. I fell into the same trap that many people fall into...I only recognized the job, the bills, the mortage and the everyday things that go on. Little did I understand the beautiful dreams and the beautiful life she wanted to live. Try to live your dreams every day...it's what makes life so special.
I was there right up the front,I was 16 at the time!! the emotion was so heavy, they all had tears running down their faces. It was a beautiful moment, ill never forget it. So glad it was captured on film.
As a 19 year old, I'm thankful every day to my parents for playing me Crowded House and similar bands throughout my childhood. It's lead me to grow up with an actual taste for music. I think I was born in the wrong decade..
How lucky we were to have grown up with this music!! Whatever happened to music with a melody and a message, created and performed by artists like this who had REAL talent?? Some of the kids today listen to this good stuff, even after all these years. Rock on!!
The melancholy of this song still gets me. I was head over heels in love with a beautiful woman who became my wife and eventually my ex. What can you say. It's a great song to a flawed movie.
If you're not crying after this performance you have no feelings, heartp or soul. Farewell to an awesome era of music that the shitty auto tune rap generation will never know. An absolute perfect bookend to my youth.
I love this song. Even 25 years later, I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I cannot image how one would not, and especially how anyone could denigrate it.
Great find. I remember this concert - I still have my shirt. The Opera House forecourt was crowded so much people were sitting all around Circular Quay listening. A night I will never forget.
i cried drains when i watched this on tv years ago. how wrenching for a crowdie fan to have to listen to this song and then witness the last of this WONDERFUL band--at that time. and now, the chorus of this song has come true. IT'S NOT OVER!!! crowded house has come back! now i cry tears of joy as i watch this. ;)
I was 21 when this song came out.....great song.....great group, great message. I will always have fond memories of this song. This was the year I started getting my act together as a human being and a person. Wish I could have been at this concert.
What an emotional performance! I didn't know it was their farewell tour but the keyboardist seems to portray the sultry tone explicitly, not to mention the superb vocal. I wonder if freedom is still attainable these days but their message will always encourage the audience to keep on achieving the goal.
Awesome tune. Stephen King's THE STAND was playing tonight and featured this tune. Had to hear it again and found this awesome live video. Beautiful and it puts me in such a pensive peaceful place. Amazing what a great song can do. Gonna pick this up on iTunes, add it to my collection.
It's great to see Paul Hester in this clip. Man it's so great to see this clip. Hard to even find 90s clips on youtube nowadays. I am so glad they have such a big following especially in Australia. RIP Paul Hester. God bless Crowded House. This song is worth 10 of their great songs too. It's my favorite one from them. I love singing it too.
I may only be 17 years old, but Crowded House is my favourite band of all time. Their lyrics and melodies are hauntingly beautiful. There is a Crowded House song for every mood. Neil Finn is class personified. On my Facebook, I put 'Neil Finn' next to my religious beliefs. He writes music that is after all, heavenly. I'm yet to see the band, or Neil by himself, live. That is my ultimate goal for 2011.
While listening to the music of the 60's, 70's and 80's, I can't help but think that these were the best years for music, and baby boomers are fortunate. Great music never gets old. Young and old enjoy these wonderful songs of those years, and appreciate the genius, harmony, and creativity of the artists.
as I was there I can safely say it was the best concert I have ever been to in my life and that song did as they say bring a tear to a glass eye. thankyou boys and thankyou paul. welcome back to our lives all the rest.
I love this song so much, It took me 2 years to find it after i heard it on the TV adaptation of Stephen King's "The Stand" as it was the title song for that program, every time i hear it i am always reminded of that book and program and man, i can't tell you how much i love this song!
I found this video about a week ago after looking for the Susan Boyle rendition, which she did sing very angelically.....how can you not?......I do remember this song........it's beautiful, sweet and sad....a song for the world.....I love it!.....Thank you Crowded House!.........
You make a clear point; DebraErics. The 80' is like and arrow through the heart, but instead of killing you, it brings you life like no other to each and everyone of us that live it. Great songs make great living, great living makes great memories, such as this one.
Music is more about becoming a benchmark for a certain period of time. 20 years from now you won't look back on todays music as being classic, but many people growing up in todays world will.
This was a great concert, put on for free by the crowdies as a farewell to the world. The stage was setup in the open plaza section of the Sydney Opera house and the crowd was just huge. I was up the back about halfway up the steps with a friend and we loved it. So great.
I read a few comments. Here is how I see it... I think that any song that touches anyone has done its job. Good songs have been written from the beginning of time, and will continue to be written. Just because some songs are popular, doesn't mean we have to dog them, but whoever enjoys them is getting them anyway. Love what YOU love and the rest of the world will love whatever they want.
wonderful song and superbly done live, but makes me think about that beautiful young lady out there somewhere don't dream it's over I'm still goin find you!!!!!!
One of the most beautiful songs every written. Watch the original video to see the stages of the band's development through their different band "houses." This song spread around the world to universal acclaim and is still one of the best loved songs of the 80's.
Just like Robert Plant stated right before Led Zeppelin started playing Stairway to Heaven @ the Madison Square Garden in NYC back in 1973, "I think this is a song of hope..." Thanks for posting this up and for the ride down memory lane...back to the times where things were much simpler... Peace out
I found this video a bout a week ago looking for the rendition that Susan Boyle recently released, which she sang angelically....how can you not?......I Love this rendition live better......a beautiful song for the world!....Thank you Crowded House!......
I love Crowded House, everytime I hear this song it brings back the 80's to me. Timeless classic. It is sad how time comes and goes, time waits for no one
Mark Hart was at my church this morning. He is married to one of our member's daughters and they were passing through (I live in Arkansas) on their way to New York to do a show. I didn't know who he was at the time until I was introduced to him. I wish I would have got his autograph and taken a pic. This was too cool!
Beautiful!! awesome track !! heard it in the movie adventure land for the first time!! since then I make sure to listen to it every single day!!! awesome!!
This is a favorite song of millions of people all over the world. Be sure to watch the studio version as he walks through the series of Crowded Houses where he and his brother did Split Enz and this band, which only needs the one song to have touched more people than most bands repertoire.
Season's Greetings from Vancouver Canada and thankyou for posting/sharing a most enjoyable video/song. Since I can't/don't go to these concerts, this is the next best thing to live and i for one appreciate what you senders do and I tune this one in often!
I remember when I fell head over heels for this song. There seemed to be sooo much crap on the airwaves back then...then I could hear this song wafting over the winds....What a stand out! Great sound quality here! Thanks!!!! I've never seen the band before.
I was there!! :-) In November 1996 i travelled from Germany to Australia just to see this concert! It was soooo fantastic.

I can't look at Paul without my heart breaking a little.
I remember watching this on tv the night they gave this last concert and I remember having tears in my eyes when this started.
wow... never again will we see such greats on one stage again.
..we never dreamt for it to be over..
You will all be missed... R.I.P Paul Hester
How lucky we were to have grown up with this music!! Whatever happened to music with a melody and a message, created and performed by artists like this who had REAL talent?? Some of the kids today listen to this good stuff, even after all these years. Rock on!!

Totally awesome 80s classic tune.
Haven't heard it for a little while so glad I found it on CZcams.
one of the best songs from the 80's and another my mom 's favorite songs.

Great find. I remember this concert - I still have my shirt. The Opera House forecourt was crowded so much people were sitting all around Circular Quay listening. A night I will never forget.
I heard this song in1987 and still love it the same. I was a teen at that time, long time ago. :(

One of the best live performances of a popular song I have ever heard. These guys have always been a total inspiration to me musically.
I may only be 17 years old, but Crowded House is my favourite band of all time. Their lyrics and melodies are hauntingly beautiful. There is a Crowded House song for every mood.
