My husband and I used this song for our wedding. He passed away 9/29. We were married 27 years. This popped up on my feed today. I feel it is his way of saying hi. Hello Danimal.
God bless
You are loved
Beautiful!
He did!! He is near to you, he is happily living on the other side and loves dearly forever 😍❤️waiting for you
Bless you
Paula Cole...just an unbelievable voice
She went to my high school in rockport ma
I love Peter Gabriel and Paula Cole performing with him outstanding !!!!
Amidst all the hatred and negativity in this world I find solace in good music
Musical Artists have been doing healing work for ages but a blessing to all who bring it to us ❤️❤️❤️😊😂tears of joy

I never appreciated Paula until I saw her with Peter in concert . Wow!
Paula Cole -- one of the most underrated singers and songwriters of our time.
YES!!!
Oh, is that her singing backup? What a set of pipes.
She was a last-minute substitute for Sinead O Connor who pulled out of the show. Paula literally had only a few days to learn the songs. I remember her interview where she said one day she was singing in small venues and the next day being flown to Paris to prepare for the tour.

Paula was a much better choice.
Voice of an Angel..Incredible range..Sends chills up my spine.@@tysn74
When this song first came out I thought it was the perfect description of what fascinated me about my wife. She passed away 2 weeks ago after 42 years of marriage. This is the most fantastic performance.
My deepest condolences.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I hope this song will bring you joy and healing in this difficult time.
God Bless my friend, I am also with my bride for 42 years. We NEVER know if tomorrow is coming, but live for them! Peace and Love❤
@gregpierzchalski7719 hugs to u for your loss💜
It really is a brilliant live version.
1993. I was 25 years old. 4 friends, musicians and music lovers. We leave for the ASSAGO FORUM (MILAN).
Let's go in, crazy stage for the time. Lights, phone booth, Come Talk To Me start. Everything is perfect. A live performance that "sounds" like a record heard on an esoteric system...
At this point we enter in a party. A celebration of music. 30 years have passed, it still remains the most beautiful concert seen live in my entire life (over 250 concerts of all kinds seen...) After 30 years hearing Paula Cole's crazy voice again and remembering her from under the stage, with her dress, Doc Martens boots and an enthusiastic face...
An emotion that will accompany me forever.
Thank you Peter. An evening engraved in the soul.
WOW!!I wish I had experienced that!
Wow. I'm in love with this comment. Congratulations on seeing Peter Gabriel and 250 shows!! Who have you zeen live,??
This isn't a song, it's a celebration of life.
So true!
it sure is!
BINGO
Nailed it!!!!
Absolutely, isn't it joyous.. : )
Back when things were normal.. ♥
Society is heading into the toilet faster these days, from my perspective.
Not sure things were ever normal. We were just young...and i miss it...
Things have gotten courser for sure. In the Big Picture, it has to do with an acceleration of Light bringing up it's opposite (hatred) to the surface for examination and processing. The world isn't going to hell in a handbasket. It's experiencing growing pains and expressing so much repressed and denied bullshit. We will get to the other side of this in time. It will be like an outbreak of common sense. Many on this planet will have to die off and take their darkness with them...only to be replaced with a younger generation with a much higher Light Quotient.

Normal is not static.. it is only a moment in change

Today I had my 4th round of chemo.and feel like poop! I’m definitely getting better and know that so many more people have things a lot worse than me. So I’m good. This is always my feel good song so I play it after every chemo session when I get home. When I have the energy I try to (badly) dance to it as well. So glad people can’t see. One of his best songs ever.
Keep dancin!, hope things are much better for you

my husband of 12 years passed away three weeks ago. This beat of this song pulls me into his memories...never take a day for granted, you never know what the next bend in the road brings you to. I miss you so much, Robbie. In your eyes, I was a Princess and you said that often enough. IN your eyes, I was complete.
I’m so sorry Diane I feel like we all take for granted what we have every day. I do to the same. I don’t know who you are but I hope you are okay. I’m struggling too
I am so sorry for your loss Diane. I wish you strength to cope with losing your husband. Cry when you need to, laugh when you can and may each passing day be easier on you.
RIP Robbie.
Diane I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I'm glad this song brings back so many good memories of Robbie... thank you for sharing your story
Diane...so sad to read this. I've had the great luck to see Peter and his band (without Papa Wemba) at the Cologne Concert I grew up with his music and accompanied so many years. I was alone there, listening and dancing, often with tears in my eyes, thinking about friends that passed away in all these years before....stay safe and strong!
Manu Katche is basically playing this song in triple tempo. So impressive, as is the song and performance itself.

I agree, I think the same. About 400 concerts but this one is unforgettable!
I did not see it live, but I listen to this version at least once a weak. What is not to love about this one?
I cry every time I hear it.

I loved the Genesis and love P. G. This is the most beautiful performance I ever seen in my 60 years. 🙏
It would take a poet a thousand years to fully describe such an amazing performance. This one song could be the soundtrack of everyone's life. The African influence is especially refreshing as well, it's amazing how one song can capture the essence of beauty, love, gratitude, pride, family in a manner of minutes. Kudos Mr. Gabriel for letting each and every member on that stage shine.
Everyone remembers Collins like Gabriel is an after thought.
Neither as good as Elton or Joel, but all fantastic

I got here from the anxiety Dr. On CZcams. He suggested picturing your younger self/inner child and connect with that version of you and forgiving yourself while listening to this. ..It will do a number on you if you're ready for it. ♥
...and then Paula Cole belts out heavenly vocals. Wonderful. Simply wonderful. Let this song inhabit your soul. The world needs this everyday.
“In your eyes, I see the doorway to a thousand churches” ❤ gets me every time. This song is absolutely soul wrenching beautiful ❤
30 million views and 11 thousand comments gives me the feeling that I'm far from the only one who finds this song absolutely magical. Seriously, if might even be my all time favorite. So hauntingly beautiful in every way. So raw and heartfelt. How can anyone not be mesmerized by it?
I’m watching this in my isolation room, suffering from Coronavirus. The effect of music is so uplifting. I was at a concert on this tour in 1993 with these artists performing alongside Peter Gabriel. To say it was amazing just isn’t enough. This was the final song performed after two encores. It brought the house down. I’m so glad it’s recorded to be enjoyed all these years later.
I am always impressed with how generous Peter Gabriel is with the other musicians on the stage.
For him, it is all about the music.
Artist and composer both. His skill and understanding of the musical impact is one thing that makes him so special. He knows a team can create what an individual cannot. He is a true leader.
He always is though.

This goes out to my sister she recently lost her son my nephew in April 😢. She was on lake were her son loved to go, it was a beautiful lake with pink lilly pads. She told me has she sat on a paddel board in the pink lillies 2 Dragonflies landed on her arm 😥😥. This song came on & in that instant she felt her son was with her. I absolutely believe her this loss has been unbearable for our family. He was such a kind hearted young man just like his mother my sister. She said he loved the lake and the pink lilly pads. It broke my 💔 for her; but it gave me some hope for her and our family. It made her feel comforted in that moment and this song was playing she knew he was with her. In your eyes, pink lilly pads, 2 turquoise dragonflies on her arm.
Soo wonderful to see and hear Paula Cole. This was a beautiful concert. When the world still made sense.
This performance is magical. You can feel the love and joy all over that arena. I wish i was there.

I bought a dvd of this recently, needing a nostalgia trip during a miserable lockdown. I am too young(at 53!)to remember Peter Gabriel in Genesis, but became a huge fan in the 80's and 90's. He has continued to evolve and change with the times brilliantly. He has worked with some wonderful and diverse talented people...totally without ego. I think this song has to be one of my favourites, as it evokes some personal memories every time I hear it.

This is the greatest, most uplifting live music peformance I've ever seen in my life...I literally watch this video almost every day. I'd also say that Manu Katché doesnt get NEARLY enough credit for his mind-boggling drumming throughout this song. His complex yet super-catchy polyrythms are the backbone to this performance, and I'd argue one of the key peices to what makes this performance so magical. JUST BRILLIANT, all around.

Well said my brother of the universe!
Colour isn’t an issue these days, it’s way worse than that.
There’s forces behind the curtain out to scare us all into subservience.
SARS, Ebola, global warming, climate change, Covid-19, Soros riots, it’s one thing after another to wear us down. Resist.
to many people the colour of your skin is inconsequential , theres a small minority that think the opposite :-) and they dont count and never should
I love how simple "jumping" shared with others on stage makes such a joyous performance.

It is a very rare thing when an artist does a song so well and the engineering of the studio production is so great that it turns out perfect. Peter Gabriel did it twice on one album. Red Rain and In Your Eyes were those two perfect songs.
It is even a more rare occurrence to hit one of those perfect songs out of the park in a live performance, yet Peter did it with both of them in this concert. Well done Mr. Gabriel. Well done indeed.
Peter Gabriel is an Earth Angel, that’s why ❤
Perfectly said...incredible rendition
Whomever did the post production on this one deserves a feet/back rub. Ain't no live piece this good without a whole lot of post. I like the end product alot.

That drummer is phenomenal
To be honest, pretty much everyone PG works with falls into this category. :)
Manu Katche is a world-class drummer for sure!
There are truly world class drummers and then there are the very few who can incorporate the elements of world music and our American pop sensibilities into their drum voicings and phrasing that include us all and touch us deep down and for me Manu Kache' is at the top of this group... Mostly in the way he just sometimes releases his limbs and let's the music's energy carry him to whatever drum of cymbal that fits the music... But the greatest beauty of his drumming is about the where he leaves space and doesn't overplay....

I'm not qualified to critique any drummer professionally, but the quickness, complexity, and power of his strokes can only be matched by few in this world.

Some years ago, I listened to this song at home before I had my first date with this girl I really really liked and had known for a little while.
When I got to her place to pick her up, she was listening to this same song after just taking a shower. The album had been out for several years already, so it wasn't that it just came out. Sometimes I think she thinks I just say that to make HER feel good, but it's true. I was the lucky one though, we've been married for twenty-one years this last May. I'm a lucky dog. The entire "Secret World" concert is probably the highpoint of his carrier, with the incredible Paula Cole, the always fantastic Tony Levin on bass, the likewise fantastic David Rhodes on guitar, and one of my favourite drummers, the hard hitting yet melodic Manu Katché.
what an incredible song,Waw..! how can one describe this amazing live band
Need to watch Queen at Live Aid. That was the best live performance of all time
I don't know about you, but that may be my all-time favorite performance
You have great taste. It’s magnificent.
Steve you are sooo right, awesome
It’s right up there with Solsbury Hill. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️➕
this is one of the most beautiful things ive ever seen
mine too
I've watched Secret World Live multiple times and now I got to experience the extreme pleasure and excitement that audience must've felt for myself. I saw this man rock it out in Montreal, alongside Manu Katché, David Rhodes, Tony Levin and a batch of newcomers, saving this one for the end, as usual. And I love it!
You speak my mind! I just saw him in Boston tonight. It was the most emotional concert experience I've ever had. What a treat!
I have just watched this for the 100th or 1000th time and burst into tears again. With joy, for it is the most joyful performance I have ever seen.
I was lucky to see this concert in Sydney in 1994 just weeks before my first son was born. And lucky again this year to see I/O in Chicago.
My favourite performer ❤️
"In Your Eyes," is my favorite song of the last 50 years. This rendition is particularly stunning. When you've got it, YOU'VE GOT IT! 👍👍👍
I totally agree with you. We all have different eyes that we still see the truth.
Chris, Holy Guacamoly. Yep, the days of Brit Row etc.,
Thank you so much for sharing and God bless all
I still can't get over how he was robbed at the Oscars for the song he wrote for wall-e. He's brilliant.
Everything Paula Cole has offered us is extraordinary. She is a consummate ARTIST.
I wish she could’ve solo-hummed a bit more like Sevara did in her performance.
absolutely, why don't more people see that... she is amazing- wish her and hers safeness...x
There are a handful of musical performances that rank amongst the best ever seen, this is near the top of the list
I can't believe his golden voice is still so damned powerful!! Chills
Truly one of the greatest performances ever. Thanks Peter. I might have watched this a hundred times.
So agree
might explain why it's been viewed 30 million times and doesn't have 30 million likes
My favorite Peter Gabriel song. Didn't believe i could ever hear or see a better performance of it until I saw this. Tears of joy, I want this played at my funeral! Paula Cole gave me chills, she was so wonderful. Tony Levin on bass is incomparable. I can't get enough of this! I may not sleep tonight thinking about this.
we love this song too. thanks for telling us the singers etc...this song means everything to me.the world is on fire!!!!!!Peace be with you brother peace for all of us. thank you for such a wonderful song peter and friends.
If only the whole world could come together like this. Underneath it all, we're the same. I see it in your eyes.
I will always remain this song... I was in a plane, coming back to Chile after a year in Italy.. I was sleeping, then I woke up with this song... I believe it will join me forever.
This IS hands down, one of the BEST performances I've EVER seen by ANY musician! Peter Gabriel & Co do the MOST AMAZING job!! WOW, just WOW!! 🤟
I agree but you should see Alice Cooper. Both are awesome.
@@belle9438 I worked in radio for many years, so I've seen a lot of concerts. This particular one is by far one of the most amazing.
Lisa Fischer on gimme shelter look it up, although a different
Vibe
What I love about Peter Gabriel is that he interacts with members of his band and lets them shine also
Your observation is to the point, totally agree with you. What a soul
Bruce Benderman and the stagehands as well,me
I quite agree. I am always so moved by the excitement on his stage.
Oneness at it's best. . .
one of the best live perormances i've ever seen.peter gabriel is a great singer/songwriter and performer.he also has a great band and sungers backing him up.
Proud of our congolese music star PAPA WEMBA , RIP
I wish to see more concerts where the musicians look like they're just having fun on a round stage, dancing like nobody is watching. This is such a joy to see.
Yes it is 😀
Fantastic performance....
Makes "JOY" look like the order of the day, doesn't it.
Mon Mon Now the concerts are more Rituals then communication of the lyrics and melody...I’m so tired of Moloch and symbols. This is a breath of fresh air....
so should we all
Paula Cole kills it stone dead she has the purist of vocals...amazing amount of talent in one place at once ...pure ecstasy 100% Peter Gabriel the Guvnor .....
Thought that was here, came to the comments to see if it was :)
Paula is beyond amazing. Its so Peter to feature this amazing, soulful singer. Everyone here knocks it out of the park. A real corker!
Beautiful
40 years old... Say Anything came out when I was 5. This song can't be denied as a great.
This version is simply incredible. Still talking about it decades later. Love it.
Maybe I'm an old soul, but this has always been one of my most favorite songs. This version is my favorite.
ME TOO
Better an old soul...nderstanding people and the world, than all these headless running round in their ruthless egotrip.
this version is very special !!
Nothing "old" about liking this song. This and Solsbury Hill are his ABSOLUTE BEST songs...among the HUNDREDS of GREAT other songs, mind you. Peter Gabriel is just great. PERIOD. Probably the greatest rock artist alive today.
Mine, too.
I was there ....one of the most beautiful concert of my life😍
I Was there too,in Modena
Lucky you 🍀
This was shot in Africa
Also, The cheerfulness splashed off the stage🥰
You are so lucky
We always have to accept what life brings us. In my eyes , it will always hear the call
All I can say for this lyricist and singer❤
He soothes us in middle age confusion of life ,our balm😊
