This was helpful for me. I just did a thorough cleaning of the lid and the battery connections and it worked. Thank you for an informative video. Better than having to purchase a new can/lid.

Most important tip with 9 star is duct tape your battery compartment closed, otherwise you will lose your battery cover in trash and not know it.

I noticed yours has a blinking red light. Mine was blinking as well so I changed the batteries and still same thing. So I’ll shut it off for a day:) thanks for the information 🙏

    Really great video. 👍🏽
I gave this very same problem with my SimpleHuman bin and have had it replaced once already.
However since watching your very handy video it has given me the assurance that I can troubleshoot and fix the sensor problem myself.
    Thanks again..! Great work 😀👍🏽👌🏽

Nice video! I've taken mine apart 3 times over 6 years, and always forget how to reset it... Thanks!

This video is amazing. It saved my trash can two times when I was sure it was dead! You're the best!

I just changed my batteries and now the lid opens and shuts all the time all day. So I guess I will clean the lid again.

Sounds like you’re really good at “cleaning things off”. Not so much fixing things. Horrible.

1st Choice Crafts thanks for the video and mi e keeps opening and closing or sometimes it just stays open will not close. What can I do?

@@brownsugar40100 Follow the same steps in the video. Again the sensor is trying to reset. Make sure your trash can is not touching the wall or anything and make sure the sensor area is clean, Wipe with a little soapy water and a soft cloth then wipe dry. Plus use popular brand batteries not the cheap brands. I only use Darcel or Eveready.
