How to fix a broken sensor bin

My vonhaus sensor bin (had it for about 6 years now) started rattling around about a year ago and was tempermental with opening and closing. It finally gave up the ghost around Christmas time and so I started to take it apart fully prepared to have to buy another. I'd already emailed about extended warrantees and getting it fixed by the manufacturer (it seems such a waste) but no chance! Its either fix it, or landfill. (or somehow recycle the non-broken bits). After I took it apart I realised I could be filming it so you catch me a little way through this. I had no idea it would be fixed until it was fixed.
These sensor bins cost about £70-100 now, so that's a nice cost avoidance

This is a great video! I have this exact model and it’s not opening. I was about to attempt a fix but just changed the batteries and it started working again 😂 a little disappointed

Haha brilliant. They are battery hungry... well now you know what it looks like under the covers should you need to fix it.

Im going to attempt to fix mine as part's dont exist with this make. I will advise if/when i fail miserably.

Good luck. Make sure you have a soldering iron on standby the wires don't have much give. Also there is a spring that needs to be tensioned which holds the lid up. Good luck. Let us know how you get on...
