    Great review again GP.
    Honestly. If I came out of a 10 year comma and you told me that was a 2010 wrx I wouldn't think for a minute " wow that car is ahead of its time."
    The touch screen and rear cam etc are good and modern. The styling and engine seems to be stagant for too long. The wrx vs evo debate is dead.

    Nice review! Just traded up our base 2016 for the Limited (Sport Tech) 2019 today. First impressions: the suspension is WAY smoother than the 2016 while still feeling really planted. The rev hang is drastically reduced over the 2016. The clutch feels better and much easier to shift smoothly (probably partly due to the reduced rev hang) so I suspect my passengers will appreciate that. The infotainment system is much better for sure and Apple CarPlay is really slick. The Harman Kardon sound system is very good - much better than the base system we had in the 2016 but still not as good as the Rockford Fosgate system we had in our 2011 Mitsubishi. We upgraded to the STI catback exhaust and I love the deep rumble - with no performance gain, it might very well be a waste of money but that purr is so good. The 2019 has darker accents on the 6 o'clock spoke on the steering wheel, around the shifter, and on the climate control knobs but for some reason the original brushed nickel remains around the vents; I don't understand why they didn't match them. The leather seats have a nicer fit and finish than the leather in the 2015 I had test-drove. So far, this 2019 is everything I hoped it would be. Hope these notes are a helpful addition to this great review for anyone considering the 2019.

    I'm considering a 2020 Limited, but I hate the fact that Subaru killed the hatchback. I'm really not a fan of sedans. A lot of reviewers still don't care for the clutch, not to mention the annoying rev hang which made the clutch grabby-ness feel even worse, but Subaru supposedly reduced the rev hang for 2020. I'm just not sure I want a sedan.

    Just about every 2019 wrx I looked at had a Popular Package (#1, 2,or 3 - - $775 - $1002) tacked on to it which includes the useless to me, $358, mirror w/homelink. To switch to a non-homelink mirror, is another $238 either way you look at it. I don't like how Subaru does their pop pkg as they are different and don't build on one another, just swap/omit items.
    Luckily I found one w/o the CF trunk garnish which is absolutely useless, even more than the hl mirror. But I'll still have to add the armrest extention (👎).
    The audio is minimally acceptable and encourages owners to select the R-Fosgate replacement speakers.

    Why is the new WRX slower than the 2015? Same Gears, same transmission, same engine, same weight. very odd. I guess they must have changed the computer tune to make it more conservative. But crazy it went from zero to 60 in 5.2-5.4 seconds to 5.7-6.2 seconds. Mine I tested with a professional test unit and it did 5.3 seconds to 60.

    All the WRX and STi are missing is horse power and torque. Every car company has been adding significant HP to their performance vehicles over the past 15 years accept Subaru. Can't believe my old 2004 STi makes basically the same HP with the same engine as the 2018 STi. Come on Subaru. Put at least 360 hp in the STi and 310 hp in the WRX. That's being conservative too.

    • @ohheccwaddup3225
      @ohheccwaddup3225 Před 5 lety +1

      @@mikaelafox6106 Hi Mikaela, it's because of the steel belt and pully design that they use to transfer power. They don't transfer power efficiently and the belts tend to snap easily around 80k to 100k miles, just about when the warranty on them ends. It's not Subaru's fault, it's just that the CVT is a weak design, due to the steel belt being the weakest link in it, and that goes for all CVTs. I give Subaru credit that they build them in house, at least. They're meant for lower power and torque vehicles and for high fuel efficiency. With the less powerful models like the 2.5i Legacy/Outback, Forester, Crosstreck, and Impreza, they're actually a smart choice for people who prioritize fuel efficiency and won't beat on the car. The fact that CVTs are used for the WRX, 3.6R Legacy/Outback and Ascent, which are significantly higher power vehicles, it dumbfounds me that Subaru doesn't use normal stronger autos for them. If a CVT breaks, it's better to get a new one than have it rebuilt. Check out videos on Subaru CVT repairs and you'll see why lol. That being said, the CVT in my 2016 Outback is fine right now at 44k (cross my fingers), but I really wish I had the manual. It'd be faster and deliver power more efficiently. Then again, it's my first car, it hasn't failed me yet, it has character thanks to the engine, it's simple. I'm very grateful that I have it and I love it. :) I hope I answered your question.
