    Headed to the dealership to pick one up on Monday. I had a 2015 STI and put on 50k safe miles. Made a dumb move and traded it for a Tesla. Stoked to get an STI again. I trust the EJ engine. A mature owner with the EJ engine shouldn’t have any issues.

      Just out of curiosity b/c I haven't reviewed one yet... What made you dislike the Tesla?

    • @EagleLogic
      @EagleLogic Před 4 lety +4

      @@goldpony The Tesla is a fantastic piece of technology, but it is just not the car for me. The acceleration is exciting at first, but then after a little while, I started to miss the connection to the driving experience that the STI provided me with. I loved the sound, handling, shifting, and even the heritage and Subaru culture is sweet. Loved everything about it. Every shift was rewarding. The Tesla doesn't provide me with driving experience the STI gave.
      Enjoyed your video. I got my 2015 STI at Ciocca Subaru. I see you are in PA so perhaps you've heard of the dealership.

      So far so good. If I was to compare it my last 2 sports car which was an 06 na 350z and a 13 na genesis coupe.
      CONs: Road noise is excessive, loud enough to drown out the exhaust with windows closed.
      Clutch position engages a bit high for my taste.
      My side skirts are taking a beating from passengers as they flare up and heals drag against them.
      Also not having that immediate power when starting at a stopped position gives those lane cheaters a chance to pass you at lights.
      PROs: Stock sound system is pretty crisp, handle high or boosted bass track very well, aids in drowning out road noise.
      Extremely bright headlights.
      Hill hold is helpful at times.
      Addressing the lane cheaters, a full boost 2nd gear shift will 1. Slam your head against the head rest, and 2. Place a gap between you and the opposing car. Light to light is at bit excessive but eh pride.
      Extras: I plan on doing some simple mods, cobb tune etc. But I did get the 10year bumper to bumper, and lifetime free oil changes. Overall I believe no other car can match the bang for buck this one offers.

    I have a 2020 STI, and your review hit on things that I was wondering about. Like on my previous Subarus the sound system is embarrassing and when I got this one I was under the impression that it might have gotten the upgrade (which it didn't) because I was pretty impressed by the sound in comparison. I know there are better systems out there but for a stock basic sound system is pretty damn good at least enough not to be embarrassing when I have passengers.

    I have a 2019 STI limited and I still don't see the 3 MAJOR changes your referring to in the 2020. The machined rims are not a major change. It's the same soft rim from last year. Directional head lamps again nothing new from the 2019. Bilstein dampers on all four corner were already available on the 2019 model. The only difference and I wouldn't consider it "major" is the plumbing added into the front bumper bezels for brake cooling. Don't get me wrong, fun car, but still not worth the price jump. Waiting to see the next gen STI before finally giving up on Subaru and heading over to Audi for an RS3. Subarus use to be a bang for your buck car, now Subaru is moving into price ranges of cars that can out perform out the box. Cars in this day and age labeled "performance" should have at least 400hp. Let's stop faking the funk.

    • @KalenvS
      @KalenvS Před 4 lety +1

      @@Omar-xg3lm and honestly that is the way to go. If you know before you buy the car what you really want from it, and factor in that pricing, then you can make an informed choice. Out of curiosity, what HP and Torque levels does 6G's get you on this engine?

    • @AW-su9he
      @AW-su9he Před 4 lety +1

      @@KalenvS Keep in mind mods are nice an all but now you forfeit your warranty. When that engine light comes on you have 1 of 2 options. Pay the man or do your own autopsy. Some may like that and I get it since it is a tuner car but I personally would rather spend my time enjoying the car than tinkering with it. My personal preference is give me all the power out the box from the factory and backed with a warranty. 400hp stock putting it down through a solid AWD system is plenty fun while still figuring out how to keep your driver license.

    • @Texas_Cruiser
      @Texas_Cruiser Před 4 lety +2

      @@AW-su9he they should offer at least a stage one from factory like Dodge did with the Neon and Chevy with the Cobalt. Those cars put out good hp with the factory upgrade kits that were under warranty. Just a reality that 80% of owners are going to mod these cars...Subaru would benefit from their real own line of a "Nismo" or "TRD."

    • @AW-su9he
      @AW-su9he Před 4 lety +1

      @@Texas_Cruiser Facts. Subaru is going to do what Subaru wants to do, they are not looking at todays competitors and todays customers. The price vs. performance is no longer lining up. A carbon fiber roof with HKS bolt ons and a few suspension tweaks should not qualify for a price tag well over 60k. Or if they did another collaboration with Porsche and really massaged a current STI backed with a warranty now we are talking 60k price tags.

      This guy is literally overselling everything. It's pretty annoying but somewhat understandable. He's a relatively small channel so I'm sure it's tougher for him to get dealerships to give him cars to review. If he gave them negative reviews they'd probably dump him pretty quick.

    I've got the answer to all of your WRX, STi, Forester, Outback and Ascent engine problems.
    A little history lesson. Subaru manufactures 80% of their vehicles in Japan. Japan has had a negative birth rate for decades, paired with highly restrictive immigration policies. Subaru's stock value quadrupled between 2012 and 2016. Now ask yourself, how does an automaker supply such a rapid increase in demand and growth to an international market, while manufacturing cars within Japan, utilizing a domestic workforce for which the worker numbers needed do not physically exist? Tada. Over work the shit out of your domestic employees, and utilize a slew of subsidiary companies employing foreign migrant asylum seeking workers on temporary work permits to fulfill your supply chain.
    Sorry to break it to you folks, your "Made in Japan" WRX STi is actually made by asylum seeking migrant workers employed by 3rd parties living in Ota, Japan who could care less about the quality of your vehicle because they are more concerned about the food they need to put on the table when 30 percent of their wages are stolen by their broker. Subaru knows all of this but can say its not their problem as they are not directly employed by them. Oh and the Japanese domestic workers that do work on your car? Well they routinely work ridiculous overtime and are not paid for it. In 2016 a worker committed suicide at the plant in Ginza when he was forced to 105 hours of unpaid overtime in a month.
    There is the source of all of your ringland failures, bent connecting rods, slipped bearings and heavy oil consumption.
    If Subaru actually cared about the people that manufactured their cars instead of over working and extorting their domestic and migrant workers, non of these QC problems would exit.
    As consumers, you have the power to force a company to change its ways and create a safe, fair work environment for its employees. Stop buying Subaru products and watch the quality of your vehicle go through the roof.
    Amen.
