You mean "series. Hyper blue" i test drove a highly modified 500hp one at a local illinois subaru dealer, holy smokes it felt like it was ripping my face off it dug ao hard, i bought a stock low mile silver wrx sti with 33k 2016 year for cheap all stock minus full perin exhaust no tune old dude drove it its literally in perfect condition ive had it 2 months and i love it, back to what you were saying tho. Yes the series.hyper blue is by far the best

Hyperblue STI is the prettiest STI made so far. I’m biased cuz I own one. I love it soooo much. Sometime I just stare at when it’s parked cuz it looks so pretty. And the options it came with!! I have navigation stock where as this gray one doesn’t have Nav. Plus the blue stitching in the inside ...I can go on and on about my car.

    • @camdoge622

SP Bizzy dude all the ones i was finding were rlly high miles and they were still asking a ton! Like 2016 with 55k for 33k when the silver ans black and white wrb etc. Were going fir 30 and 29k with 30k miles etc nonetheless congrats sick car add me on Facebook i have a 2016 sti all stock had a rs

I paid $41K everything out the door for the 2016 Hyperblue Series STI with 13K miles on it. The first owner had it leased. Funny coincidence, the original owner lived in the same city I live (Irvine, CA) cuz the navigation still had his home address on it. I don’t think I’ll ever sell my STI. I have STI black body skirts all around (lip, side skirts, rear diffuser) and I get thumbs up and people commenting on my car at red lights.

Being in the $40’s, it’s just too much for what it is man. As much as I love this car, I can’t justify paying that for a STI. Especially with the gamble of their engines. Just because you’ve owned three and got lucky, I just can’t. I have a friend at work, completely bone stock except lowering springs....30K miles....rod knock. Insane. I just can’t. This is way too common with these cars. I love the STI’s, but wish they’d change the motor.

    • @Victic005

If this was available when I got my STI, I may gone for it (even though negotiating $5,000+ off the MSRP of this like with the non-limited STIs seems unlikely.) Well I had problems. I went from a Fiesta ST to a used 2015 STI and it was a nightmare. Performance was good but reliability..meh.
I did some highway pulls against a tuned GTI. Needless to say that I poorly lost and the engine also started knocking right after.
I got really scared that they wouldn’t do the repair under warranty for some BS reason since my warranty was about 2500 km (about 1500 miles) from expiration. They asked a lot of questions and did some inspections and ended up changing the whole engine under warranty. So relieved.
Long story short I had a lot of money to put on it and didn’t want to because it’s been so unreliable. (Brakes, summer and winter tires, clutch..) ended up trading it in for a brand new red focus RS. And with that brand new engine I made a 3K profit on it over the course of 6 months.
Now I got full warranty, brand new everything and also a set of 18” winter wheel and tires. Oh. And power.

I'm glad you got out of this with the warranty, as it would suck if you had to spend a fortune on something that was not your fault. As it was explained to me, buying a used STI is like marrying a former prostitute - it's temping, and while it might work out OK, the end result is frequently more grief than joy. While any cars in this class are risky to buy used, the STI is probably the worst. The way some people drive them (lugging, not allowing oil to reach temp before exerting higher loads), [fail to] maintain them (not checking oil levels every other fill-up, using an oil that shears down resulting in insufficient bearing protection or not servicing these cars frequently), and [ghetto-ly] mod them (eBay parts, mods without changing maps, and returning to stock and selling after something goes wrong) is just insane.
If someone buys a car with a used turbo EJ and they don't have a factory warranty, they should assume the car was abused and set aside about $7-10k for a new short block or more IMO as, for no fault of their own, the engine could take a huge crap with little warning due to how the car was treated by the previous owner. While a PPI with a compression and leakdown test can check for some of the issues EJs are prone to when not treated right by a previous owner, it's still not fully exhaustive, and I do not think most dealerships even do this before selling them used. I love mine, but for me to buy a used STI, it would have to be at least $15,000-$20,000 less than new for me to even consider it when factoring the engine's sensitivity versus how so many people treat their cars...

Closer to 250 wheel, actually. The 305/310 are crank figures - these are not high output cars in stock form, although they become much more lively around 300 WHP. And it's an interesting comparison. A SRT Challenger is a properly-built modern muscle car - it looks good, sounds great, and is damned good at what it is designed to do. The STI is essentially a car you can take bone stock to a track that isn't a straight line and have an absolute blast driving it right at the limit, take it home driving some dirt roads in the process, and then put Hakkapeliittas on it and outperform just about every truck or SUV on the road in snow/ice with a basic understanding of driving stick in low-traction situations. You can do things in one that you can't do with the other and vice-versa. Comparing the two is kinda like trying to equate a C63 S with a Cayman just because they can be similarly-priced...no?
