    I just found your channel and you have amazing tips and performances! I have a couple of questions:
    1) What do you use to put all your stuff above the keyboard? You just put a piece of wood in the top part of the keyboard stand?
    2) How do you connect the Zoom to record your performances? Directly to the output of the mixer and then from the zoom to the PA system?
    3) Do you recommend another drum machine that's under 500 USD?
    4) What brand is your PA system, and does it runs on batteries?

      Thank you.
      1- plank of wood
      2- Out of the mixer
      3-You could look at Novation. Not sure of prices though. Or go second hand.
      4- I use JBL, and no not battery powered.
      Good luck

    So organized and helpful! Thank you! I also use the Perform-VE and RC505 looper + a Roland keyboard in my setup, and am at the point of wanting to add a DI to the Perform-VE (because the signal out is HOT HOT HOT) and getting myself a mixer & drum machine. I appreciate you!

    • @FKeyPianoMan
      @FKeyPianoMan  Před měsícem

      Glad it helped! I recommend the MC-707 groovebox for a drum machine if you can afford it. Having fader control on each channel is really helpful!

      @@FKeyPianoMan I considered it but the size and price are daunting! I'm looking at the Roland MC101 as an alternative... Although it's also oddly fun to limit myself to the inbuilt beats and kits on the 505 looper and the Perform-VE vox box (I use those two tiny drum pads to record from the vox box to the looper -- it's a very basic sound but that's kind of what I like about it!) And I sometimes use the inbuilt rhythms on the 505. Again, super basic, dry, and mechanical in sound quality but it lets me get ideas out quickly (I have WAY more ideas than I do patience to twiddle with fiddly gear or menu-dive). Still... I'm tempted by the compactness and range of the MC101. We shall see! I try hard not to acquire new gear so I'm forced to push my existing rig to the max. You're the first person I've found with a very similar setup to mine, which is refreshing! Your keyboard soloing chops are 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾

    • @FKeyPianoMan
      @FKeyPianoMan  Před měsícem

      I run through 2 different setups. Want to keep it simple (Mono) or stereo if happy to add a bit more cables, gear and sonic options. I still use both options depending on the sort of gig, setup and what i want to achieve on the day

    Thanks for the video, super helpful! But there is one important point I could not catch. So the connection from Loopstation and Groovebox into your mixer has to be via TRS right? (Does TS work as well? Does it make any difference? ). Also from your mixer into PA you use XLR, can you use TRS instead? (or again does TS work? Does it make any difference?).

    • @hyrdrgn
      @hyrdrgn Před 23 dny +1

      Sorry one more question. Im using an effects board for my guitar. So Guitar goes into Effects Board with TS. Then Effects board goes into Boss RC505 intsrument 1 slot left and right with TS. Should I use TRS for the second connection? Does it make any difference?

    • @FKeyPianoMan
      @FKeyPianoMan  Před 22 dny +1

      TS works just fine. Where an XLR option is available it is preferable to me, as that cable has better shielding against noise.

    • @FKeyPianoMan
      @FKeyPianoMan  Před 22 dny +1

      Again TS is just fine.

    • @hyrdrgn
      @hyrdrgn Před 22 dny

      @@FKeyPianoMan Understood. Thanks a lot! with everything being ts, Im having some buzz time to time. I could look for an upgrade to TRS then I guess.

    Not sure if the rc505 had balance outputs, but your yamaha mixer should have. I think a better mixer will also be safer next time. Maybe a single loop pedal could also be a safe option to have as back up p

    I have the RD 2000 and RC 505 as well, and I'm wondering, do you use the RD 2000 also as a midi controller for the 505? I'm trying to figured out how to map the faders and knobs to the RC 505.

    • @FKeyPianoMan
      @FKeyPianoMan  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hi John. Interesting idea. Haven’t seen anyone do it. I don’t connect midi from the keys to the Loopstation. If anything I would do it in reverse, so the RC505 sends midi clock to RD2000 for tempo synced delay effects. Good luck

    • @JohnDurso82
      @JohnDurso82 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@FKeyPianoMan gotcha. My intention was to map the knobs and faders on the RD 2000 to FX and levels on the 505 to have extra controls. I know in the assign function the 2000 sends MIDI out and I can see the CC numbers, but it's just not communicating with the 505. I'll keep tinkering!

  • @cosmic_v

    Hi, I'm new to looping. I have the RC-505 MkII. I've noticed that when I record loops with an instrument through a microphone (lets say percussion or vocals), the microphone will then pick up the pre-recorded loops through the speakers while I'm recording a new loop over everything but on a new channel track. Even with the speakers facing away from the mic, it still picks it up. There are times when I want to isolate the mic recorded track during playback, but its disappointing when I hear other sounds that it picked up by the speakers, if that makes sense. Is there a way around this? Perhaps I am not using the correct microphone?

    • @FKeyPianoMan
      @FKeyPianoMan  Před měsícem

      Don't use a super sensitive instrument mic. Maybe something like a Shure SM58, but you will always get some bleed from the speakers. Try recording the more sensitive parts first over a lighter sounding loop, or simply drop down the volume of the background loop while you record. Or get some in ear monitors, so you dont have speaker music going into your microphone

    Novice question but can someone get started looping vocal/piano/percussion simply with the rc505, a mic and a regular keyboard (which has drum fx)? There is no need for laptop/synth/controllersoftware etc??

    • @FKeyPianoMan
      @FKeyPianoMan  Před 16 dny

      Connect them Via Midi Out to Midi In. The midi out unit will be the master. You will need a sound mixer to plug audio from both into, and then to your speaker. To be honest if your learning, start with one Loopstation, get really good at it, then buy a 2nd one. Goodluck
