Bio
Multi-Instrumentalist Reinhardt Buhr has composed 17 albums in 10 years time.
At the end of 2019, his work went viral over social media, reaching more than a hundred million views across Facebook and CZcams.
Reinhardt combines the Laser Harp, Spanish Guitar, Electric Guitar, Electric Cello, Australian didgeridoo, Israeli Shofar, Spanish Cajon, Synthesizers and Piano via a live looping system to create an extraordinary symphonic orchestral sound in only a one-man improvisational act.
Reinhardt Buhr was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1988 and grew up with
no passion for music at all, In fact, as a teenager, he became a computer gamer and
began abusing alcohol at a very young age. His first job was at a small liquor store, where he earned 20 cents an hour. After that, he worked as a packer in a supermarket. His plan of
becoming an animator failed when he started abusing marijuana and alcohol on a
regular basis.
At the age of 19, two of his closest friends began learning the guitar. Reinhardt
immediately fell in love with it. With no formal training, the three friends simply
taught themselves how to play. A year later, Reinhardt was inspired by a Flamenco
guitar player, and began learning Flamenco Rumba Guitar from CZcams videos.
One day, he was sitting at a small roadside steak restaurant with his parents, and
there was a man playing solo guitar covers. Reinhardt approached him to make
small talk and the owner of the restaurant overheard that Reinhardt played a bit of
Spanish Guitar music.
So the owner asked Reinhardt “Why don’t you come back next week to play, and I
will give you a steak and 10 dollars in return?” So Reinhardt Buhr played his first
solo Spanish guitar gig that following weekend and hasn’t stopped since.
Reinhardt Buhr quickly became known around South Africa and formed a duo
band called “Wild Lettuce”. He and the drummer performed many national
tours. They also opened for a lot of great artists. But unfortunately, Reinhardt fell
into a dark habit of abusing alcohol, drugs, and cocaine.
This affected him, his career, and everyone around him in a very negative way.
The band broke up. Reinhardt Buhr went solo and left his hometown, hoping to
escape the drug scene, only to find himself moving in with someone who also had
a cocaine problem. The whole cycle started over again.
At the end of 2016, Reinhardt hit an all-time low. He was at the point of death. He
fell on his knees and pleaded with God to step into his broken life. When things
could not get any worse, God in His full mercy and grace, stepped in and changed
his life completely. Reinhardt and his wife, Mandie Buhr, both experienced God’s
salvation and were baptized together. They left a lifestyle of abusing, marijuana,
alcohol, and drugs, and began on a beautiful road of salvation and healing.
During the biggest transition of his life, Reinhardt was playing a gig one day. As
he was playing for hundreds of people, He experienced a voice telling him to make music
for God. When Reinhardt made the shift from playing for fame and fortune to
playing for Christ Jesus, everything about his music changed! You can even see
the transition from his earlier album called “Organic 432hz”, to his latest album
entitled “Arise”.
To this day, Reinhardt Buhr makes music to God. This is his way of worshiping
His Creator and Saviour, Jesus Christ. - Hudba
I'm very excited to share this Spotify Playlist with you all, containing the 30 most listened songs of recent times! spoti.fi/3tDqZsL
Love how it's filmed like a Bourne Identity movie, leaves much of the tutorial entirely to the imagination on account of you can't see shit
Sharing your wisdom and insight like this is a gift. Thanks so much Reinhardt. Keep making the world shine. x
In the past with my fairly basic setup of midi keys/vocals/bass/audio interface, I've found all of this a bit confusing, just winging it without really completely getting what I was doing. I got an RC-505 in the mail today, and after watching this video, I *finally* get it!! So stoked and excited to get going!! Thank you, really great video
Im glad you learned to monetize all your work and everything. You are very smart and creative. A dying breed. Amazing
I have been searching for a video like this since 3 days now. It is the only one I believe. Extremely informative. A Big Kudos and Thank you Reinhardt!
Thanks Buhr, I appreciate you taking the time to explain everything to us novices. It really helps us get started without feeling too overwhelmed. 🙏🏼
Your bass sound is one of the best sound to my ears. Love it, and you are one of the causes for me buying a Boss RC-505. Great vids btw. ;)
Super useful! I just bought a RC-505 and am stoked to start looping!
3 minutes in, and you are showing me what I’ve been looking for. Brass tacks stuff here. Thanks!! Earned a sub!
Hey Reinhardt ! Thanks for sharing your settings man. Just got the RC 505 few months ago and currently setting a show with multi instruments (didgeriddo, handpan, guitar and other stuff) and your music style has been a great inspiration.
So thank you for this man, your music is awesome :) !
How's it all working out?
EXTREMELY HELPFUL! Thank you. Beautiful music.
Hey Man just wanted to say thanks again for all that you do and the knowledge you provide, hope all is well.
Thanks for the info. Sending audio into aux definitely helps. I’m going to be midi controlling the 505 with a midi controller.
Here is to having some busking fun. Thanks man
Gooes bumps after only seconds. Incredible!! Thanks for the inspiration🙏
i think 1/8” stereo jacks sound great too. i’m using one for the output of my mixer into the rc 202 and it works really well. i’ve heard a well known studio engineer/software designer say that there is some rounding or warming of the sound that you don’t get with the 1/4” connectors.
Just found out this man is a Christian and that's super awesome. Great stuff!!
Incredible looping. Thank you for this!
Spot on with the Yamaha mixers, have two love them both, bullet proof and road worthy!
Really great. I love your music. I'm listen to you on youtube and bandcamp. Your life music is really wonderfull. I'm personnaly just beginning with guitar with pêdals and loop and microphone and your video about your material installation is really great. Thanks a lot!! I will buy your albums . Anthony from France (Lyon)
This is so helpful! Thank you very much Reinhardt
Thank you for the music and sharing tech information!
LOVING YOUR VIDEOS!
your videos are a class of didactics!
Thanks a lot! Appreciate the kind words!
Wow ...love what you do...a one man Enigma...totally awesome...be safe and well
Thank you so much - such a talented + pro musician
Thank you very much. I really enjoyed watching it.
usually these yamaha mixers have a group out option, which means you can send you outpuyts via the mixer to the group outs then take the output of the your 505 back into the mixer and route it through the stereo out,. you then get a stereo L & R mix eq on your mixer which is super handy for checking levels ect
Thank you so very much for sharing, it's very inspiring for newcomers like me!! Keep up the great work my friend, you are creating something special here!!
Thank you for your help on hooking this stuff up

Thanks for the kind words Sir Peanut Butter The Brave! I have only recently started uploading on a consistent basis, and will be keeping to that schedule :) Glad you like the video's! more coming soon!
How easy did you find it to use?
@@shalashaska615 It's not hard at all. There are tutorials on CZcams that help as well. It's great quality.
@@shalashaska615 Very easy and super versatile!
Duuuuuuuuuude what!? This is AMAZING! Can’t wait to check out your music!
This is wonderful your music is fantastic! Thank you so much for this video!!! Finally the solution to all my problems.
I'm so glad thanks for the feedback!
@@ReinhardtBuhr if I may ask you something, what is challenging for me is if I am playing in a place with a lot of natural echo, my loops began to lag, and it gets chaotic :-/ ,... any advice?
Mate, this is so helpful, thank you.
Trank you very much for this !!! 🙏
Thank you again friend!
you are fantastic! pure talent
Thanks for the kind words!

Great help!
Oh, everything is visible here, thanks, it's cool)
Thanks mate!
Very good video... thanks
Really fantastic!!1
Great video. I've been looking for a video like this on the absolute basics for ages. Can L/R output from the looper go into a normal guitar speaker? Or does it have to be monitor speakers?
Thank you well done
I just like this guy.
Superb❤
thanks man
Wot a great sound
Thanks man :) thats realy usefull
I really enjoyed your story about Christianity! So moving! Keep the faith and keep making music! Don
Thank you so much Don! Appreciate your feedback! God bless you
Hey, appreciate the walk through. You’ve inspired me to try a similar setup. Interesting tip about the aux in. One question: is that a special “y” type cable where it has a the two (right and left) 1/4 inch, then it combines into the single 1/8 end? Or do you use a special adapter?
Thanks!
Wonderful👍😉🤗
Dope... how could you not thumbs up?
This is the best set up instructional video I've seen. I don't have the RC-505 looper yet, but will referring back to this when I get one! Thanks for this video!
Man it is so useful to have your full and detailed explanations and for you to show how everything is connected. Thank you! One question - how do you get the Zoom to record your Circuit if the groovebox doesn't go through the RC-505? Another mixer?
I just go straight into the Zoom H6 with the circuit :)
Maaan you helped me a lot. You won a durable nice subscriber right here. Keep on going. TO THE SKY! :D I wanna start doing this also but still need to put some money and buy the things...
I'm so glad, welcome aboard! If you have any questions to help you get on your journey then I'm here to help :)
@@ReinhardtBuhr Thank you very much. I really appreciate that. :) You are great.
I really appreciate your craft and it's inspired me to live loop. I bought the RC 505 MK2 and bought the same Yamaha Mixer you recommended. I can't seem to figure out how to use the mixer for the two mics (SM 57 & SM 58) I'm must be missing something I followed all your steps. Do you have a flow chart or diagram by chance? Thank you so much for any help you can offer.
Fantastic Misic Amazeing....GREAT INFO Problem solved for a new user...
Hey! I was wondering if the mixer you are using can be used as an audio interface and for performing live as you do!
Whoa the about section is deep man. Glad you're okay
Thanks for this helpful video. I have a question. What is a better option for recording at home? From rc-505 straight to a computer via USB connection or from rc-505 to a sound card like Focusrite via jack jack cables?
Would you be able to share some insight on why you go aux in instead of 1/4 in? Is there a specific reason? Would 1/4 in left and right provide the same results? I am also a multi Instrumentalist seeking the best setup. Also, I have to extend my hand of gratitude and say thank you for such inspiring music. I came across your channel and content not long ago. I know something special when I see it. When I feel it. You my friend share a gift from the universe. A gift where our souls speak in sounds.
I advise you to think about using the zoom livetrak l-8 mixer/ then you can record each instrument on your own channel.
Hi Buhr,
Please could you show us how you get such good drums and bass. Love your music 😊
Hi Reinhardt, great video thank you and has inspired me into the world of RC-505. One question please, I notice in your more recent videos you have changed from the Strymon Timeline Delay to the Headrush Gigboard. Are you happy with the Headrush Gigboard? I've seen in some reviews that the reverb & delay presets are not as good as other devices? I'm planning to use it for ethnic flutes like the Shakuhachi and Bansuri, in a similar ambeint style as yours so not sure if the Headrush Gigboard is right for the job? How do you find it? Big thanks, Nick
What is your favourite setting for the timeline delay?
If I'm using an electric guitar and want it going through an amp, would I just have the headphone jack of the amp to the mixer? alternatively could I use an amp head like a marshall 100 w amp to the mixer through the cabinet jack or do you think the signal would be to strong? In all, how could I connect an electric guitar to my rc 505 effectively?
Great video... My only q is how to send your H1N1 to speakers? Maybe I missed that somewhere
Thinks for sharing this!
Just one quick question: how do you choose which instruments are affected by the delay pedal? I thought the delay would apply to all the tracks since it’s connected AFTER the mixer.
I use an Elite Acoustics stompmix 4. Awesome pedalboard size digital mixer
Hey nice video !
Do you think it’s possible to use a big soundcard like scarlett 18i20 instead of a mixer ? Mixers are biggers in small apartment.
Do you need a main control volume or some access for EQ parameters who are not on this Scarlett ?
Thanks this inspired me so much I went and bought a new Yamaha CGX 111SC this morning .
Ryan Thomas Glad I could be of some inspiration !
good stuff man. Question, if you go out into the PA, in which case do you need the DI box? and which type of DI box? thank you!
can you go straight from the mixer to the loop station, if you don't have any other devices to connect? also, if you're using a mixer, do you need to use an audio interface anywhere in the setup still?
Reinhard,do you use biased or unbiased 1/4" cable (TS or TRS)out from the mixer to the Strymon ?
Also Is the 1/4" L-R to 1/8"(3.5mm) stereo cable that you input into the 505 a female 1/4 "left - right input to 3.5 mm male?....thank you
Great setup. Are you monitoring on headphones from the 505 or from the zoom?
So do you have the l&r going out of the mixer because you're playing in stereo? Or is that standard? Just left for mono? Same with to the speaker. Would I do a l&r to single xlr for input on my powered speaker? Or just single for mono? I'm going with a very similar setup, I appreciate the help!!!!
Hello I was following well till the second thing with went through before the looper, Is this a DI, What do you use this pre-amp for ? thank you.. I am just going for a basic set up at present so just curious if I may need one fo these too?
Once set up from mixer going to aux on 505 - can you line out back to mixer for output? Or will that create a nasty feedback loop?
Mind sharing the setting on the RC505 you are using? Especially the filters? Was that Chorus and Reverb? Big help! Danke!
