What’s he supposed to say? “Yeah. I don’t deserve this money. I’m trash. I robbed the Knicks.” There’s not a soul in this comment section who would not have taken $100M
The coolest thing is than he actually agreed to make that interview with JJ because this question was the only thing this interview was made for 🙂
"i dominated the playoffs and make half of what bradley beal makes"
modern nba fans are literally the dumbest humans to ever exist
Yes
Agreed 😂😂 Ive seen clowns commenting how he said he wants to win but to me 100M to play ball where my family is, I start and I have Julius Randle? That's a big W to me. I dunno about contender but theyll definitely win some games
He didn't rob the knicks brunson is good and he's gonna become a star in NEW YORK
I went to school w/ Jalen (Nova). In our of our classes the professor passed away towards the end of the semester. I went to give my condolences to the dean of the department and jalen coincidentally came in after me to do the same. He didn’t have to do that and it was very sincere. That stuck with me. He’s a good, well spoken dude.
My mother knows Luka Doncic mother and his grandmother because they were neighbors long time ago. His grandmother was a hair dresser and made my mother hair few times. They were poor but good people.
Overpaid means you got bread tho. That’s a great insult to get is all I’m saying.
This guy gets it 😂😂💯
That's not the question though
It means they paid superstar money for a good role player in my eyes and he should’ve stayed in dallas
Yes and no cuz it means u didnt earn it so u dont get the same respect
@@itsdashawn-wood20634/ 100 mil in the nba’s current market is not “superstar money “ they paying for a high level player/all star at that price y’all don’t understand the real superstars are getting way more money than that put everything in perspective.
People thinking he's overpaid simply don't follow the NBA very closely. Next year he'll make the 16th's highest salary for a point guard - he'll be in between players like Terry Rozier and D'angelo Russell. That's a pretty fair assessment of his place in the pecking order. Considering the fact that he's just entering his prime, has improved every year and most importantly - showed that he can be a meaningful playoffs contributor in a team that reached the Western Finals - that's a reasonable deal.
Terry rozier and d’Angelo Russell are both heavily overpaid so that isn’t great company. I like Brunson and don’t mind him on the Knicks, but you’re telling me there aren’t 17 guys better than him in the league rn?
@@AEOuriel you stupid if u think dlo is overpaid
@@AEOuriel at point guard he def top 17 which means his money is justified
@@AEOuriel Well, we can name them if you want.
I don't think there is more than 100 guys better than brunson.
I would say he's around the 70-90 spot and that mean he's like a low tier second option to very high third option.
25 million is not bad for that.
@@AEOuriel for one HEs Not better Than Either Rozier Or Russle So yeah there’s that
I'm a Mavs fan. What I love the most about Jalen Brunson is his efficiency.. Dude is small most of his shot are difficult stop and pop mid range jumpers but shoots 50% from the field which is baffling and also barely turn the ball over.. That's why if he commit mistakes sometimes I don't even get mad.
Y’all got Jaden Hardy which is good now tho💀 trusttttt me he’s going to be a star besides Luka
@@ayooooo8191 hope ur right
@@ayooooo8191 he’s gon be hit or miss. Such a good scorer but decent to subpar at everything else
Jalen is a smart player and his footwork is great.
I genuinely hope this guy succeeds in New York.
Hope yeah reality will kick in soon tho that Knicks still ain't that good haven't been since 90s
@@connorjohns6484 🥱
what do you think now 😃😃
You guys do a great job with this pod! Keep it going
JB is the type of player who just keeps his head down and lets his play do all the talking. He’ll live up to the contract, and the Knicks will be a better team because of him. Dudes a HOOPER.
Always love the pods JJ ❤️
JJ has given us inside into a side of this world we rarely get to see. Draymond is doing it too. Up til this point a lot of NBA players had CZcams channels, but they used it to post vlogs generally.
And the honesty he talks with, is awesome. That part at the end about payday making him forget the chatter was hilarious! And his little “your checks are a little bigger than mine were… but It’s okay… it’s fine”😂😂😂
Whole lot of gossiping is all it is. Men thinking they on the view or the talk.
@@Fsojack also it’s a little weird to be the only one to like your own comment,
He's gonna average 18, 8 and 3.
i think less
22 -8-3 is about what he got on the mavs when luka was injured.
@@camdened123456 He can't have 22-8, either 22-5 or 18-8
No he’s not. He won’t get anywhere near 8 assists.
Itll be closer to 22, 6 and 4. He's not the best passer
I'm stoked for this man. Respect!
It’s good to hear how humble and level-headed guy Jalen Brunson is despite his rise from a 2nd round pick to a bona fide number 2 on a WCF team.
It’s not that he got a bag, it’s where and how he got it. Players who have done less got paid way more in previous years.
It’s because it was the Knicks and how his family is connected to Leon (Knicks President) and Sam (Jalen’s agent) Rose. That’s an apparent conflict of interest there and in multi-million dollar deals, optics do matter when cap space was cleared to make room.
He deserves his money and i do hope Knicks fans will root for them regardless of how the season plays out.
Facts
I like his mentality, I have watched his interviews a lot, He is real and consistent. He does not change throughout every situation.
Every salary sheet I have seen put up by sports media with current starting guards in the NBA puts his salary well within the range of what others at his level are getting, plus add in the upcoming changes to NBA contracting, it will end up being a reasonable contract. Plus people love to hate on the Knicks. Those people need to get lives.
I’m a Mavs fan and I sincerely think it was better for both that Brunson left. To me, his small size is a liability in the defensive side and his game style is pretty similar to that of Luka, such in a way that his best games took place when Luka was injured.
Literally opposite of randle
The problem is NOT that he left. The problem is that he left without us taking a player back. If we could resign him and we regard him a liability on the defensive side we could trade him for let's say Anunoby or anything like that. We now lost an asset for free. That's the problem. Not the actual loss of the player.
@@beardlong8235 you cant get Annunoby straight for him, raptors got vanvleet..same player
@@beardlong8235 Yep. Can’t give assets away for free in this league. He was the Mavs second best player by every metric and he walked for nothing.
@@kevinc8955 Happy some of you understand that I am not pissed off we dont have Brunson. I am pissed off because we didnt get a trade package equal to his value for giving him away.
JB - gotta get you up on KFTV. We're soo excited to have you on the squad!
He took advantage of his situation. Good on yah. Looking fwd to giving it to the Knicks when they come to Dallas
As a somewhat Knicks supporter...I'm glad to hear what he said ..that the contract won't change him. He'll stay humble...continue to put in the work and improve.
He will average 20 pts and 8 asst next season...
“Somewhat Knicks supporter”
That must be a great feeling 🥲
He's not getting anywhere close to 8 apg but he'll still ball out.
@@owensingleton8282 If Dubious Handle can average 6 apg for the Knicks, Brunson can average 8 for sure.
It just depends on the system of offense built around him. I wouldn’t be surprised if Thibs puts the ball in his hands early and often.
@@coreyhansen9711 Brunson has always been an iso scorer and a garbage passer. Expecting him to get anything above 6 is wishful thinking. 8 is straight delusional
@@coreyhansen9711 Haha ...I like that Dubious Handle
I definitely feel like he was overpaid , but he just have to prove me and everyone wrong by going out averaging more than 18ppg and be consistent along with putting them in the playoffs
Yamp agree this year will determine if he had a lucky year since no one took him serius. Making noise in the playoffs has teams paying more attention to those players the following year
It’s not about the points he scores, more how he can the team work on both ends
the 14th highest paid pg in the nba is not overpaid
Marcus smart and malcolm brogdon gonna crush this guy
@@ImadogGarcia lmfaooo its definitely about the points , not the impact he definitely wont have a bigger impact than randle and barrett he will be the third option
This man has been great player. The best thing for New York.
Knicks were in need of a Point Guard and Brunson was the best on the FA market. Murray would have been worth the trade but the possibility of Brunson/Mitchell/Barrett/Randle for NYK is something they can’t pass on and if the got Murray they couldn’t get Mitchell
Brunson and Mitchell at the 1 and two positions will get exposed on D
None of em play defense. That’s why Utah got smoked last playoff and Dallas as well.
Lack of big was also a reason also
Needing a PG doesn’t mean you just get the best available one at any cost. He doesn’t make the Knicks a contender or even a playoff team. They would’ve been better off waiting another year to see if they’d players develop.
@@bonanimathambo8721 So who would we spend the cap space we opened up on? How can we see the youth if all of Kemba, Burks, Noel, and Taj were still on the team?
@@khalilsmalling975 Could’ve started Quickley then go to free agency next year.
@@bonanimathambo8721 you aint an expert bruh…
The NBA is an tough grind and what ever you negotiated you absolutely deserve my opinion 📊🏀💵
he fit with kp so much,i hope they will link some day in their career
Jerry west just flammed JJ Reddicks whole career. Love the pod bro lol
People can point out his flaws but I think his competitive intelligence is what makes him a valuable player. I think he has more value on a playoff team. I wouldn't say he's overpaid...I consider Damian Lillard overpaid... His contract plus the extension solidifies Portland as a 5-12 seed.
Jalen Brunson gonna prove a lot of people wrong
u were right
A case can be made for those busy bodies that want to know about other people's salaries and not even talk about what they make being overpaid that anybody can be pointed at for being overpaid depending on how you feel about the person and it reveals more about the accuser than the accused you can say Peyton Manning was overpaid the fact that he didn't get as many super bowl rings as Brady ,case can be made that Carson Palmer's overpaid who didn't even get to the super bowl like Russell Wilson and on and on so you can keep on going on and on with examples or we can just mind your business and do your job that you're probably overpaid for
he obviously earned it in the eyes of the Knicks. now it's up to him to validate their faith in him...
Based on how many players the knicks get with baggage and uncommitted , Brunson seems different. He looks like he will grind and just ball no bull.
You are worth what the market is willing to give you
If I were Dallas, I wouldn't have paid what the Knicks gave him. Besides, it is obvious that he wanted to play in N.Y. with his father being the head coach and he wasn't going to come to Dallas even if they matched the offer. He did what he felt was best for him and that is appropriate.
If NBA GMs felt he was "worth" that contract, he would have had a lot more suitors. So I can see where the opinion that he was overpaid has some merit. However, his pay is directly related to what the Knicks think he is worth and that justifies his contract. I hope for Knicks, their fan's, and Jalen's sake, that he meets their expectations. I am confident that he will do everything in his power to do so as he has shown himself to be a high character individual. I wish him the best and this is coming from a Mavericks fan.
thibs is brunsons dad? lol
His dad is an assistant coach, not a head coach. And pretty sure he would've chose Dallas if the money was the same but I'm glad Dallas didn't pay that much
@@ready2rumble999 I accidentally put head coach. I know he is an assistant. I also followed his FA journey and ever since NY hired his dad every rumor had him going to NY. Dallas even had a NY visit scheduled with him and he cancelled it.
You know you won at life when you can say it’s better to be over paid then under raided
Such a good dude
Wtf he’s not overpaid. The dude is ~15 pg in the nba. He’s ~15 highest paid pg, not to mention his is a new deal. He’s paid correctly or slightly under since it’s a new deal.
Jalen Brunson looks like that “old man” filter on Snapchat
First off I ain't mad at him getting that money any one of us would do the same. Is he overpaid a little. Like is he an all star level player not quite. Does he make your team better yes. Does he perform in the playoffs he did. I think his value is around 20ish million so it's a slight overpay but the Knicks have to in order to attract players to go. So neither are wrong in the partnership.
As a knick fan, we always over pay
Overpaid is not an issue, it never is. Players that get this big bump in salary usually showed signs they were the next big thing. The issue is whether he will continue with the same work ethic. Money gets some people comfortable. For a small few it makes them work even harder.
If the only negative thing people had to say about me is I make too much money I’m doing ok 😂
lol. 'overpaid' is an understatement.
Nice!
I liked how he played without Luka‼️
Not a such thing as overpaid. Knicks found him that valuable, hopefully he put the work in to match the value. Get d.rose to a contender
Bruh I'm a Mavs fan and when I saw the contract he was offered I was," the Knicks are wild af but congrats for bro" look I used to be on the some players getting overpaid thing but the older I got the more I realized that that's not a thing. If they think Detroit called my phone and offered me ANY money I'd be on the next flight lol
BRO WHEN WILL YOU GET THE ANT-MAN
We need anthony edwards bro
i bet he was surprised af when he got that offer
thats why he said yes immediately without any hesitation
I really doubt he was surprised since the media was already saying he'd get that much weeks before free agency even started

most people do not understand the salary cap and how players are paid. if the did they would know he was paid the market value for his production. If we paid player by nba fan opinions players would be switching teams every day of the because of them.

im his fan and of course, he is overpaid. But that's the situation Knick had to pay a lot to get a good player. Im looking forward to his career it wil be REALLY interesting how it works out in NY with all the pressure. He is great mentally one of the toughest guys as you see in the interview, very humble and a winner.
The only downside I saw was vs the Warriors when he coudunt do much vs taller guards, I never saw him have problems on offense before.

My response would be, “if you think I’m overpaid, that’s that’s fine, give me/my agent credit for negotiating well.”
To a certain extent it doesnt really matter if he’s overpaid. The market is where buyers and sellers transact at market clearing prices. Jalen got the market price and it is what it is.
Just goes to show u majority fans don’t know basketball. Forget the great potential stats JB could bring, having JB just solved the Knicks primary issue for every draft, FA, & development by finally having a point guard saving them years of tragedy they faced such as Nitikina. Jalen Brunson isn't overpaid, he got overshadowed by Luka... he's a talented player and will be nice alongside Donovan Mitchell if he goes to the knicks

That's complete BS. Jalen's contract is fair and as a Knicks fan for over 4 decades I appreciate Jalen taking a front heavy contract so we can add more talent in the future. He's getting more per year up front but less every year to help the teams cap. Now that's a true leader and a true stand up guy. I can't wait to see him run the team.
Jalen really is a great leader and a stand up guy but the way his contract is setup has nothing to do with that lol. He's still getting the same amount of money and now he gets more of it earlier. Pretty sure every player would prefer their contract like that
Now he’s showing you why he deserve it 💪🏾
Jalen Brunson played better than Russ all of last year, better in the playoffs than James Harden. Brunson makes less than them. So no he is not overpaid. He will be the best player on the New York Knicks.

Overpaid? Athletes have a small window to make as much as they can with a fixed cap in a monopoly. Get paid whatever you can get. The cap keeps going up so by the end of these contracts they don't look so bad (except Westbrook and Harden's was).
$26 mil a year is 3rd option type money. Not overpaid.

simple
1) he is overpaid: if he becomes a disaster or a liability to the knicks. much like when randle got his bag but sucked the following year.
2) he is not overpaid: if he will thrive in thibs or the current coach's system.
He’s not overpaid. Just look at PG salaries and production. If he keeps trending up, he’ll be producing above his market price.
Had the knicks known Donavan would be be available dude would've still be with the Mavs. By all means get paid
100 ms is an equal trade for knowing u going to a team that’s cursed .
Nobody gets paid what they deserve. They get what they can negotiate
He worked hard and got a bag.

Is even a discussion? Evry NBA players is overplayed.
Saying something different is an insult to the people who work their a.s off every day.
How's he over paid hasn't even had the chance to play and prove them right or wrong .
The guy had a surprisingly good playoff series, but he's middle of the road talent for his position and will struggle defensively. Third or at best second option on most teams. Paying him that much, without proving himself over time, seems a little hasty.
You just said he is middle of the road at the position. And he is getting paid middle of the road at the position.... So fair pay then.
