Have to respect Tim for admitting that he was wrong about Jalen. I wish every analyst and even players would be as honest as he was when they’re wrong
Tim Legler Is the gold standard for NBA analysts. Much rather hear him then hot take buffoons like Kendrick Perkins
That doesn’t deserve respect, it should be the bare minimum, though I fully understand your take
Yeah he didnt’t try to walk anything back. Just flat out admits what he thought was wrong
Tim is one of, if not the best analyst when it comes to former players and has been for about 15+ years
🙏🏽
I remember that when the Knicks signed him, the whole NBA community was like “lol just Knicks things.”
Facts! 🤷♂️🤣 Us and the Kings are no longer the laughing stocks of the NBA and actual contenders now.
Only casuals say that. He was great in college. He had great potential in the NBA. Amazing footwork for a guard.
@@Bo55edup Happy for y’all tbh. Hope the good times sustain🙏

Jalen Brunson is by far the best high school basketball player I have ever seen in person. Dropped 40 in the state title. Then proved to be a winner at Nova. With what he’s doing now, sky is the limit
@@JimBrave-vi9ji Every great player learned how to be great from someone. Takes nothing away from Brunson at all. Weird comment
@@JimBrave-vi9ji you know it’s possible to praise someone without tearing down others. You’re right, Kidd is a great coach and knows how to develop talent. But by your logic, every player he’s ever coached would be great if it has nothing to do with the player. But that’s not the case is it? Food for thought.
Brunson is where he’s at because of the work HE put in. Kidd ain’t doing that work for him.
I find it incredibly odd your desire to discredit this man
Best high school player I watched as well. Seen em Vs St Joes at the Christmas tournament. Put up like 50. Been rooting for em since. Honorable mention, Ryan Boatwright. Lol

THIS is what’s missing in so many sports journalism these days. Actual sane analysis rather than outright clown shows based on outrageous takes to generate views.
Massive props to Legler for admitting he was wrong and detailing WHY he was wrong. Such a basic concept that’s foreign in today’s media.
That’s what you get from analyst that actually played in the league
@@MitchellBahamas what about Skip Bayless?

What's important is clicks and pushing your agenda.....ABC and ESPN has nobody to blame but itself for what has gone on there.
U would mention that 🤡
Tim is a real one for admitting publicly he was wrong. He didn't owe anything to Jalen or anyone else for his completely wrong assessment. He gave Jalen the credit he deserved & didn't get initially from him. ✌🏽
As someone who graduated high school in suburban Chicagoland the same year Jalen did, I have been rooting for him for awhile, I’m so glad he’s doing well
Stevensen High School baller.
Yes, watched him since HS, always had great footwork and high iq guy
Same here brother - went to Stevenson with him, graduated with him and took several classes with him. Good dude. Knew he had it in him if just kept working hard and getting better
The steadiness and leadership he provides to the team is invaluable. He definitely instills a level of confidence that the team was lacking last year.
They will never win with him. You cannot win with a self hating racist uncle Tom. He is not a good leader.
I’ve said this about Jalen since the beginning of last year. He was just a bucket and his game was so damn nice. Shifty and quick, Strong, Elite at the rim, great mid range game. Literally any time he shoots it felt like a make. Miss him on the Mavs
As a Knicks fan i was pissed hearing how much we were doing to free up space for “big free agent pull Brunson”
But i didnt know his game, i dont watch college ball. But when i looked up his stats and saw he shoots FIFTY PERCENT from the field, i knew he was a baller - not another low 40% shooting shot jacker
Honestly, I feel Brunson is still a better fit for the Mavs than Kyrie...Imo.
#JalenBrunson remind me of #IsaiahThomas & #MikeConley JB is him
The mavs roster is complete trash
I don't think anyone thought Jalen would be this good 🤷♂️. Even most knick fans were upset when the trade initially happened because we all felt Donovan would've been the better pickup especially since this is where he wanted to come. In the end I think it worked out for the best for all parties involved, we just need JB to stay healthy 🙏.
Right! Nobody expected this level from him and it's AWESOME too see! Best FA agent signing in years! Especially for the Knicks, maybe ever....
yeah i thought he was an all star player but not all nba level
I'm a big Nova fan, so I had a lot of faith, but even I thought he would be a 20-22 ppg guy at best.
I still would take Donovan Mitchell, but.. god damn has JB been revelatory for the Knicks, he's inspired Julius Randle, elevated Grimes and Quickley, and gives the Knicks a true elite pg.
@@caponebd7941 yeah, I 100% expected this from him. Not surprised at all. Glad he got out of Dallas and got his chance to shine.
As a Knicks fan I think Brunson the first dude to step up and try to lead. Didn’t know what to expect going into the season, but boy do I love him now.
Melo did as well, he just didn’t have the help
@@Catholicmillennial I just meant with this current squad. Like even randle putting up his best numbers I don’t think was ever a good leader for the team. Brunson changed the whole dynamic
its the first time knicks have had a real PG in probs over a decade
I tried to tell y'all and y'all didn't wanna listen.
I'm a personal trainer and got a chance to work with some of his high school teammates....they were so good so I knew he was talented since he was there best player. I'm so proud he is doing well and with his pops by his side that's gotta feel awesome.
cool!!!!!
His father failed him because he can’t find a good looking woman, his own race. Brunson is a self hating racist uncle Tom.
Wowweee
Jalen Brunson is Him Duncan
Eh cant be him duncan because thats a level beyond. He more Him Possible. Him Allen. Himothee Chalamet
Vividly remember the entire NBA community outside of NY clowning the Knicks for that contract, which made no sense because even if his production had stayed the same as in Dallas he'd still be worth that $. Crazy that he'll be making less and less $ each year of his contract.
It was pretty fair assumption for everyone to make tho. He is an undersized guard that averaged 16 ppg player and they paid him 100m. Pretty insane that the knicks pulled the trigger on that.
@@ctrain3621 brunson averaged over 20 in the playoffs went 2-1 in the playoffs with Luka injured not playing vs jazz
@@ctrain3621 How can you say that's a "fair assumption"? Maybe that's true if someone's a casual fan and doesn't really watch games, but anyone that watched Brunson last year in the regular season knew what his potential was... then he PROVES it on the BIGGEST stage (playoffs) and without Luka, like I don't understand how more people didn't connect the dots that this was going to happen... Brunson has literally improved in every statistical category since coming into the league if anything the "fair assumption" would've been he's going to only get better based on everything we've seen... but it's the Knicks and the narrative was different.
@@ctrain3621 that assumption was pretty dumb to make, considering the $100 mill he got is a mid-tier contract among PGs. A lot of overpaid PGs who don’t do that much more than he does. They gave him that money because the market dictated it.
@@ctrain3621 hes the 14th highest paid point guard… If you think a mid tier salary is insane - time to learn about the salary cap🤦♂️
he also shot 50% from the field the whole season, and carried when Luka was hurt. Maybe use your brain for more than “hE aVeRaGe 16pPg aNd GeTs PaiD aVeRaGe”
look up how many point guards shoot 50%, especially shooters
A real HOOPER. Smarter than anyone on the court, footwork, plays the right way, isn’t selfish, efficient, and most importantly A DAWG.
2x NATIONAL CHAMPION.
HE WANTS THE BIG MOMENTS
Then why didn't he beat curry last year in the WCF. ???????? Oh we don't want to talk about that. that ws his ceiling anytime he runs up against an ALL NBA player he'll fold.

Knicks franchise owe Jalen Brunson kind words and nothing but credit for everyone getting better. Most Knicks fans myself included underestimated his talent and Basketball IQ! He’s a steal and deserves respect for bringing us back with his leadership and on court play!
He's paid 26 million dollars a year.
I keep hearing you Knick fans talk about his leadership for your team. That's key for your franchise. I can't stand the Knicks because whoever's been the GM can't seem to put a decent team together & as a basketball fan that's difficult to watch. The Knicks definitely have a team now, let's see what they do with it.
My whole life as a Knick fan .. I said knicks need a East coast point guard . Like a real hardcore baller .. we finally got one .
THAT IS A GROWN MAN MOVE. JALEN BRUNSON SURPRISED EVERYONE EXCEPT THOSE WHO GAVE HIM THAT CONTRACT ON THE KNICKS
Wrong. He didn't surprise a lot of us whose followed his career since high school and college.
You guys together are a show!!!
Please make it work we need you guys consistently at least 25 times in a year
Legs has always been a stand up guy… Great track record.
With Jalen it's not just the stats, but the intangibles, the leadership, the i.q, the decision making, the big shots, efficient....
Gotta respect when someone misses but turns it into something positive. I also didn’t think he would be this amazing.
Hey look, Jalen is amazing man but in Dallas, Luka over shadowed all. Its hard to evaluate a guy playing #2 to a ball dominate star. Respect to Jalen, great hooper.
For example, look at Mikal after stepping out of his role in PHX. He looks like a star!
The fact that Jalen shined enough in Dallas to get a contract of that size says it all.
Tim's comments hella respectful and honest. I'd be proud af if I were Jaylen
Been watching him since high school his high school played my old high school in the state playoffs a few years back.....to somebody like me who's been following him since then NONE of what he's doing is surprising none of it. He's always had it.
Exactly
Love these conversations. What I think could really take this to the next level is if you guys could use footage to support what you're talking about (i.e. Detail series w/ Kobe). Keep crushing it JJ been rooting for you since '01.
That would be fire. But would cost them a lot of money lol licensing
I could not agree more regarding Brunson the guy has been outstanding and is absolutely deserving of making the All-NBA team. His efficiency splits considering his usage and shot volume is wildly impressive. Brunson is such a gamer.
It's crazy to me how media production teams don't think that sprinkling in a segment like this on first take or undisputed will be good for ratings. There are a lot of true basketball fans out there and a lot of casual fans with the appreciation of the game that actually want to hear the game being broken down like sports media used to
Good point btw.
It was obvious man. Jalen is one of the better brains in the nba
I respect Tim as an analyst and I’m surprised you didn’t see this coming after his performance in the playoffs when Doncic went down…
Mavs too. Thought 4/55 was too much for a guy who literally has improved every single season in the league consistently. How do you let him walk for absolutely nothing after watching him develop in house?
Lakers did the same to Julius randle once bron came
@@8ight6ix0z Kuzma, Caruso, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, Zubac
@@8ight6ix0z Randle was already a pelican before Lebron got there. And Randle ain’t NEVER shows this type of development as a laker lol
@@Geeandrezzi first off you are clearly not a real lakers fan, second go do research before you talk. The year before Lebron signed with the lakers was Julius last season, it was his breakout season and he wanted to get paid more but with Lebron rumored to come there they didn’t want to resign him for more money and let him walk. Like I said, go do your research, stop arguing on the net bc you don’t care how foolish you sound.
@@8ight6ix0z first of all, I’m not a lakers fan at all lol. Second, I literally said “Randle was a pelican before lebron got there” (aka he signed with the Pelicans when lebron came). How is that wrong of me to say? And third, I said Randle never showed THIS type of development of the level that he’s currently playing at. He’s putting up numbers only Giannis and Jokic are putting up. His “breakout season” was Randle putting up 16 and 8. I stated facts that you clearly misunderstood, dont blame me for your low IQ…
Legs and JJ are easily two of the best nba analysts (if not the best). Non biased l, great analysis, and their arguments are usually always backed up with stats, not emotions. Good job, gentlemen 👏
I like JJ, every now and then flies of the hinges lol
I thought it was madness he wasn’t a first round pick but I never thought he’d be this good in the league.
1st part I agree. Second part, it was quite obvious to me after following his college and HS career.
It’s always refreshing when you encounter accountability

No worries Tim. I felt the same way lol…Great in college but didn’t see it happening like it is now. My boy is a Knicks fan and I told him Brunson was a bad choice. I was obviously wrong
I give Tim props for admitting hire wrong he was about Brunson. As some basketball fans (even Knicks fans) were crying about missing out on Mitchell, I thought we were going to give up too much (players and picks) for a solid scorer who doesn’t impact winning. Brunson has been the missing piece for us. He was a stud with Nova but was overshadowed by Luka. When Luka was hurt, Brunson regularly carried the Mavs. Greatest free agent pick up in well over a decade for the Knicks.
As a fellow Knicks fan. Would you rather Brunson and Mitchell back court if we traded away RJ?
@@aaronpegues327 of course but as cavs fan don is not leaving sorry
@@elmalloc exactly my point. We should have let rj go man. Brunson and Mitchell in the back court. With Randle. We would have 3 dogs. Sad to see Mitchell send up home in the playoffs

All you had to do was watch him in the playoffs last year. I was so amazed so I knew the potential there
People are casuals
Exactly lol
I can respect someone who can admit when they're wrong especially in public
As a Knicks fan I was definitely questioning the signing. He looked good in Dallas but when teams start really game planning for you a lot of guys start to shrink. He’s the real deal
I wasn't because he did it during the playoffs for Dallas when it counted most - he stepped up BIG time. He's built for NY.
Playing with Luka the dribbling machine kept him under the radar
He’s upped his game this season, but he was nice for Dallas in the playoffs last season even without Luka.
People don't give brunson the credit because doesn't help the narrative that Luka didn't have any help this year brunson might be better than Kyrie Irving in terms of playing winning basketball
Love your podcast JJ and Tommy
But what is with that damn outro?
The second half of Brunson’s last season in Dallas showed he was ready for more. Couldn’t have timed it better.
I'm glad you break down interviews to about 10 minute clips. For some reason I won't watch anything on CZcams over 20 minutes but I'll watch unlimited 10ish minute videos. I don't know why...
I'm curious, do you watch those 10 minute videos start to end? Or do you switch to another 10 min video halfway through ?

he is basically the opposite of kyrie: no nonsense, his team wins consistently, he shows up every game, no flashy techniques, clutch

When jj mentioned the pace he plays at instantly made me think of how isiah Thomas played that one year in boston
As soon as I saw they had interest in him I knew management knew what they were doing, I told everyone dude was gonna be great, feeling good about my self now.
He’s not the only one
I’ve been singing Jalen’s praises ever since I failed a math quiz with him in high school. I knew he was going to be a stud someday (just not in Calculus)
If the Knicks had or keep (however you want to argue it) a point guard like him during Melo's time, they would have definitely made a deep playoff run.
Tim when describing Jalen’s strengths really just described Luka
I feel that is a fair comparison. Jalen Is a baby Luka without the playmaking. He is not fast. But Brunson is not a small guy and he have good foot work.
You're not wrong.

He's a proper floor general
Don't leave out Tyrese Haliburton out that convo man! Dude is unreal with his playmaking skills.
Played against him in AAu when he played for Mac Irving, when sticking him it seem like he not doing much but you look up and he got you right where he want. As a Mavs fan Im glad he got the opportunity to shine cuz the Mavs were definitely holding him back like they do everyone else not named Luka
Great Job.. and shocking how JB has been slept on by nearly all of the elite analysts. Kid had no business falling that late in the draft, he has been a star since HS, 2x Champ in College, done it all
Brunson is making Cuban regret he doubted him
Respect for admitting you was wrong
I also didn’t see this coming and watched him play a ton in college so I feel that

All you had to do was watch last years playoffs. JBs game elevated to another level. He can’t be stopped by one guy. Lucky for the Knicks , they noticed
I had the same walk back on mikal bridges for the nets. He’s big time
JJ you are really growing on me. You are doing a great job in your new career. Legs I've always liked you, but you've earned my respect tremendously in admitting you misjudged Jalen Brunson. That takes guts and I hope more sports reporters take notice of this stream. Also Kudos to Jay Wright and his father who coached him up.
Me and my friends clowned the Knicks for giving him that contract. Now it looks like a steal 🤷🏽♂️
Very good breakdown by both Legs and JJ
Knicks all day!!!! Brunson one of the BEST pgs in the league.. NO DOUBT.. ppl want like someone that can dunk or some crazy speed lol so exciting seeing a tall nba player dunk!!! NOT.. thats easy.. what jalen does is soooooo freaking flashy and mind blowing to me.. i re watch some of his highlights over and over again cause i cant believe what he just did and how smooth it was
After watching him play through the Mavs playoff run (live here in SF vs Warriors). I was very surprised they let him go. He was so solid last year
Never seen a PG inside back to the basket so many times in a game. It was like he was playing pickup Street ball
The problem is everyone is looking at flash. His fundamentals are solid and he makes smart decisions. Playing alongside Luka he was doing the most of the minutes he got. Some players will make minutes or touches an excuse but successful players make the best of what they have.
Should be a whole segment...
I'm in the same boat. brunson is so good fr def underrated him these past couple years

I knew Jalen Brunson wasn’t just fringe role player when Luka was out for the playoffs last year and they went up 2-1 on the Jazz. His game is much like Luka but he doesn’t pass as well. He just needs the right system around him and he can be competitive
