- Charles Barkley, Donovan Mitchell, Jamal Crawford, Tim Legler and Jason Kidd speak about how great Jalen Brunson has been for the New York Knicks this season. Stephen A Smith wanted Donovan Mitchell more than any other player this offseason but that would've meant giving up depth including Obi Toppin, immanuel Quickley, and Quentin Grimes. Needless to say, it worked out for the Knicks to add Jalen Brunson for less than half of Donovan Mitchell's salary.

The Knicks front office has been exceptionally good IQ and Grimes were both 25th picks, their rotation is under 28 years old ( Randle being the oldest) they have multiple picks, young assets and a culture that’s going to attract a star ( or maybe they can just keep them together and let them grow and develop) or not, plus Fournier’s contract is trade friendly too.

Unless we had traded for Donovan instead, then I think we still wouldve made the playoffs but we actually might not be as good with Mitchell instead of Brunson which i never would've thought before the season.

I'm from Chicago and I've watched Jalen from his days in high school. He won a state championship. He won at Villanova. He has been a winner period. Great point guard and constantly getting better. Everyone was sleep on him. Not anymore!
When you watch IQ play now, watch his footwork. That's all a result of watching Jalen up close on a daily basis. If Obi can bring the same energy and confidence in his game when Julius gets back, and Deuce can continue to get better, the Knicks will have no holes in the second unit!

I have to give Brunson respect and credit. I was too sold on him becoming the point guard that he is now, I thought he was overhyped in Dallas, I believed from watching him played in Dallas, he was slow and slightly overweight. I was wrong and Brunson deserves what he getting paid and perhaps needs more money for what he brought to the New York Knicks, Brunson have made other players step their game up Example Immanuel Quickly, Quentin Grimes, Brunson have made other Knickers players by way of competing either in practice or during a game elevated their game/ competitive and selfless athletes make others around become competitive and confident. The Knicks are consistently winning games with or without their stars being in the game because the likes of Brunson and even Obi Toppings have make others confident and competitive for the New York knicks. I’m a fantastic knicks fan and have been since 1992. Go Knicks Go.

You can count me as one of the people who didn't know Jalen Brunson could be as good as he's been. I never really watched him play much and thought he was better than what the Knicks had but actually watching him play this season what sticks out to me is how he can just maneuver to get in the paint and get his shot off then stand outside and hit the 3. He's also a good free throw shooter. He runs the offense and is a real leader on the court. And he can keep Julius Randle in check.

I really appreciated your break down on what a real PG is. Holding everybody in any particular organization accountable, not just the players on the floor. You know I'm working in healthcare now and I am constantly talking to everyone in all departments not in an attempt to tell them what they did wrong but to bring everyone together. I once heard a that a great General never leaves anybody behind and I think Jalen Brunson exemplifies that. I was a point guard through high school and led a champion ship collage team. None of that happens if I don't put and keep everybody in there position. A person like Jalen Brunson probably makes everyone in that arena glad they came to work and at the same time excited about what the Future will bring for the Knicks and the City. I'm out.

The original deal proposal for Donovan Mitchell between Utah and the Knicks did not have Obi in it. It was RJ, Mitchell Robinson, and draft picks. Rumor has it that a Knicks guy called a friend in the Cavs front office to find out if they were in on Donovan Mitchell. That person lied and denied that the Cavs were looking to pick up Mitchell. Take from that what you will.
They wanted more,they wanted Grimes or IQ also.

It's been said that the Knicks offers kept getting worse. When Cleveland saw that the Knicks were taking too long and changing trade candidates, they jumped in and offered what was comparable to what the Knicks offered: RJ, Mitch, and picks. On Cleveland's end that equated to Markkanen, Sexton, and picks. The Knicks hedged, thinking they didn't have to "overpay", Cleveland found out, and swooped in with a take-it-or-leave-it offer.
