    I really do like the idea of heat sealing the bags. I can never tie my bags & I think heat sealing them would work so much better for me. Thank you for this wonderful video!

    What size/dimension styrofoam shipping box would fit 5 bags of Bettas standing upright? I am going to be shipping my 5 pet betta fish since I am moving to a different country, so this video was really useful!

    • @pnwbettas
      @pnwbettas  Před 2 lety

      Just a heads up, you can’t ship to another country like this. The box will get pulled at customs and they won’t deliver it. You have to go though a process of exporting and importing for live animals, which required a license and the fees generally rack up to a few hundred dollars. If you moving to another country, you can bag and box them, but just bring them on the plane with you. You will probably have to talk to some people, and they will probably want to test the water. Check with customs and your airline too. But that’s the best chance you have of them being transported

  • @madelyn_smith

    Thank you!! If I’m shipping in super hot conditions, like 90-100 degrees, how do I keep the fish from over heating? Will the inclination keep them cool enough?

    • @pnwbettas
      @pnwbettas  Před rokem

      To an extent, but looking at the weather is extremely important. I don’t ship at all if it’s above 100. I have a hard cutoff.
      I also do not use USPS priority over 95 degrees. This is for the entire potential delivery window (normally Tuesday-Friday).
      This video is pretty old and I do things differently now. I only use 1” thick insulation for shipping now

    • @pnwbettas
      @pnwbettas  Před 2 lety

      I’ve gotten tons of different types in the past. I either import some specifically for bettas, or I buy them from kens now. They are real cheap there. I now prefer 18” bags because they are easier to tie

  • @chrisdelafuente8489
    @chrisdelafuente8489 Před 2 lety

    Hey. Great video! Do you don’t need to add oxygen to the bag? Would they last 2-3days in the bag?

    • @pnwbettas
      @pnwbettas  Před 2 lety +1

      I don’t no. I’ve had fish to 5 days in transit due to delays and still be fine. I’ve heard of fish going up to 2 weeks in extreme causes of lost boxes/delays

    I’m looking for a good way to keep the box cool for 2 days for places over 90 degrees.

    • @pnwbettas
      @pnwbettas  Před 2 lety

      There isn’t anything effective for tropical fish. Animals like axolotls and goldfish can be shipped with cold packs with overnight shipping but they can tolerate cooler temps. Bettas can’t, and ice packs would melt before it arrived 2 days later. The best way to do shipping in summer is having people pickup from the post office, and not shipping over 95.

    • @pnwbettas
      @pnwbettas  Před 2 měsíci

      I source my boxes much differently now, as I’m shipping in much larger quantities and have a commercial space :)
      I order from glacier pac (only ships to commercial locations I think), or Uline molded boxes in the skid lots. Then I order the outer box part separately from them as well.
      I have the uline ones linked under my axolotl shipping video!
