    The US mail usually sends weekly flyers, which is great packing material. If you live in an apartment complex and know what day the flyers come out, put out a box that says "Unwanted Flyers go here". Your neighbors will love you, and you will have all the flyers you'll ever need!

    • @Fishtory
      @Fishtory  Před 2 lety

      Yeah! Tuesdays we get similar "junk mail" but it's now only 5 or 10 sheets surprisingly. I think things are going digital more often these days. But I should find a complex or housing development nearby and figure out the day they get those mailers

    Thank you, this is awesome! An additional tip for anyone shipping snails - they do well wrapped in damp paper towels in a small container with a few holes in the top. Most need access to air so a breather bag won’t work, and I’ve found that their shells are less likely to be damaged in transit when packed this way.

    Very nice, step by step and the reasons why. Your packing system is actually better than my southern state major supplier. I've never had an issue with their system for plants, I'm confident your customers will have no issues with your stock👍

      Right on... those templock padded/bubble wrap mailers are great for plants...I shipped some plants in the small box that way...I'm curious how they'll arrive to folks honestly...but if it works, then it's a very easy way to do it for only 10 bucks shipping and about 4 bucks in supplies

  • @Smalltimetanks
    @Smalltimetanks Před 7 měsíci +1

    I know this a older video but would you still recommend sending hornwart in that same way ? I see alot of videos where they don't have much air ! I'll probably put paper towel wet but was wondering about the air part ? Send something to a friend for first time Nebraska to Wisconsin ha ha trying shrimp and a few fish in same box lol got 90 something heat packs waiting on bags fun learning experience!

    • @Fishtory
      @Fishtory  Před 7 měsíci

      So i still do it this way, but its never a bad idea to fully submerged a plant in water...its just that some post office screeners will flag certain things if they sense liquid over 3.5 ounces ( i think is the amount.) But if it has a live fish/live animal sticker then that may save you the hassle.
      Also you could just put the hornwart and shrimp in the same bag possibly too . The shrimp need something to hold onto when being shipped or theyll get stressed and even sometimes hurt one another

    • @Smalltimetanks
      @Smalltimetanks Před 7 měsíci

    How many fish would you recommend putting in a breather bag ! I got guppies and small plattys I was going to send to buddy if mine !

    • @Fishtory
      @Fishtory  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Id put about 5 to 7 inches of fish usually... in a small bag... and 9 to 12 inches depending on size of each fish in a larger bag. But basically enough room so each fish can have an inch of water around themselves if you put them in little cubes. You just have to worry about ammonia build up, and fish pooping/fighting ...so fast the fish for a day or two before bagging...and they should do fine

    • @Smalltimetanks
      @Smalltimetanks Před 6 měsíci +1

    🤔 how would you ship bugs lols someone wanted peanut beatles that I have but I have no clue on shipping them

    • @Fishtory
      @Fishtory  Před 2 lety

      I would get a yogurt container and a smaller container and just place one container in the other with air holes as needed... then use the larger container to have some shredded paper or crumpled newsprint with the smaller container inside all that...and more crumpled news print around that. I don't know how much humidity they need or what temps they can handle, but they sell that templock back stuff in wrapping paper type rolls too if that helps! If they need humidity, just put damp paper towels in the outer yogurt or Tupperware container and that should keep them in moisture without too much condensation in their container
