      Never shipped fish before so good to know. Only thing I would add is there is an insulated thick foil pad that is sold in hardware stores and a Japanese Dollar Store called Daiso. It's said to help retain heat so I wonder if lining the box with that stuff would keep the package warm enough to get to their destination more safely

    If u want, u can add a piece or two of hornwort plants instead of a plastic mesh in the shrimp bag. It will not only let them hang on to it, but also provide bit of extra oxygen and also to a shrimp or two does, it can absorb some of the bad stuff. U r also helping the environment like this as ur using less plastic :) plus the customer/buyer gets an extra piece of fee plant and if they don’t want it they can always compost it or just throw it away.

    this is literally the best shipping video I have seen, and I have checked a lot of vids. you covered pretty much everything there is to know about shipping. One question, since im using the breather bags, would affect the ocygen exchange if I wrapped the whole package with plastic bags? also, do you recommend adding some purigen in the bag? thanks for everything, im geting into shipping shrimps and im doing my research as you did.

    • @GirlTalksFish
      @GirlTalksFish  Před 4 lety +2

      I'm glad it helped you! I wrapped the insides of the package with plastic bags, but since it wasn't airtight or waterproof, I believe gas exchange still occurred. I seem to remember that Rachel O'Leary would add a chunk of sponge that removes ammonia and other toxic chemicals, but I can't find the name of it.

    Great information! I may be selling some shrimp on craigslist soon, but I want to be prepared before listing anything and this video is full of excellent tips. So do you think that I should buy some shrimp food to give away to customers? What is the protocol for a seller? I have plenty of carpeting plants that I could give away as I let the excess dwarf sag and valisnaria nana float, but I have no frogbit or mosses.
    Any advice would be appreciated Irene. What substitute for newsprint do you suggest because I don't get newspapers anymore?
