*What fish should I breed next in my 10-gallon tank?* Some ideas I have include Endler's livebearers, hillstream loaches, pygmy cory catfish, German blue rams...
Colony breed some rarer higher end guppies or endlers that you can sell for profit.
Pygmy Cory catfish would be great for a breeding project . It would be cool if you bred both pygmy Cory cats and endlers in the same tank. 👍🐟
Your choice of Betta fish, yellow shrimp, or cpd's
you should try apistos
Cardinia shrimp
The moment she knew she messed up made me 😂😂😂😂😭
😂
Happy New Year!! Thank you for sharing everything you've been learning about our hobby! I just got into the hobby last year and your videos and articles have helped so much!
Re: Duckweed/Frogbit and the like; control them using feeding stations (plant separators), 8mm is just about the perfect diameter clear tubing needed. 👌
Happy New Year AGW and family. Thank you for taking the time to publish totally helpful video on our favorite subject!
I went back through some of your most recent Videos this morning as I was having a coffee, thinking about how you always produce clear and educational videos. I actually found one I missed!
I really enjoyed and appreciated your video on shipping live animals, very well done and very thorough! I believe a person could start from scratch with your video work as a guide, though I am not sure you have done one on cycling your tank especially the first time you set one up, I shall look back.
It has been a year of turmoil health wise for me and I cannot stress enough how much having fish has helped and how much you have added to my knowledge base, that allows me to enjoy them. My best for 2020!
Oh my goodness, you are so sweet! You're right, I haven't done a cycling video yet. I conducted 3 cycling experiments and then had to take a break because it's so hard keeping up with measuring water parameters multiple times a week. Very interesting results so far. So glad to hear that fish have been helping you get through this season of health issues. Praying for you right now and wishing you and your fam a happy new year! 🎉
So interesting to watch all your videos...I started our first little tank for my grandaughter during lock down. We have progressed to two tanks now. Both tanks are planted. Every day is a learning curve!
Your daughter is adorable:)🐟🦐🐌
For my stem plant, Ludwigia Repens, I don’t use any fertilizers, no fancy lighting, and no fancy substrate (just basic gravel) yet it’s flourishing! In 2 weeks, it has grown 9 inches on each individual plant! I just sold my first bunch of clippings of the Ludwigia and now it’s time to clip a second bunch! Good luck on growing your new stem plants!
I think you should breed Gold White Cloud Mountain Minnows in your 10 gallon! They’re fairly easy to breed and they’re really fun fish!
That's crazy - my ludwigia hates me for some reason! If these next changes don't work, I may try changing out the substrate and see if that works. Ooo, I've never had white cloud minnows before; that would be so fun!
@@GirlTalksFish You should try Niloc G Thrive liquid fertilizer. The plants in my 10g have never done well with just a betta and 2 nerite snails (0 nitrates). Tried Flourish liquid fert and Easy Green liquid which don't raise my nitrates and create a ton of algae after just 1 dose. Not until I tried Thrive did my nitrates go up and DID NOT create algae.
Happy new year!! As always love the content!
I would love seeing updates on the gecko. Thanks for the great videos. Happy New Year.
Really enjoyed the video !
I always enjoy your videos so much! Glad to see your channel growing so fast 😊
Thank you so much for watching! I'm so grateful when long-time veterans like you visit my channel and appreciate the content. :)
The dwarf lily will also starve your stem plants as they are nutrient hogs, especially in combo with floating plants. I have a lot of those "Ah ha!" moments myself. 😂 Too bad about your betta tank, it was looking awesome. I'll have to try Cory's liquid plant food. I'm hooked on his new sponge filters.
Looking forward to more awesome videos in the new year!
I enjoyed your video and learned a lot. It would be great if you could record a video of how to sew moss to the mesh you mentioned at 1:40.
Awesome I Love your channel and you have helped me learn some good tricks. I'm slowly getting ready to get into planted tanks. I will test myself with betta fish ( candy koi ) and hopefully I can perfect some of the handling parts because eventually I would like to get into breeding top quality bettas. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
That sounds amazing! Best of luck with your planted tanks and betta breeding projects. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and your loved ones!
Love your channel!! :)
nice update, hope all is well, Happy New Year (in a few days)
Thank you so much! Happy New Year to you and your loved ones as well. 🎉🥂
Love love love the new reptile 🦎 please do make videos on it so beautiful
Really Nice video! I enjoyed it. 🙂
You should consider breeding bristlenose plecos, they are fun and easy to breed. 🔥
You are always amazing! Love your videos.
But girl, you are mostly right about the floaters. Huge tip, make yourself a corral to keep them in. Once it gets crowded pull out the extra. I normally take out until about 50% capacity of the corral. Also dont let the corral cover more than 1/4 of the tank. Also don't expect much to grow underneath them. Huge bonus for keeping them wrangled up in a corral is that it becomes an awesome space for breeding.
Anyhow hope you and yours have an awesome 2020!
Ooo, I like that idea of only 25% of the tank. Thanks so much for the suggestions!
@@GirlTalksFish , good luck! I learned this the hard way. I almost had your exact same problem, then the lightbulb went on too. The corral thing totally fixed my problem. And hopefully, if you try it, it will fix yours too.
@@GirlTalksFish you can make the corral out of airline tubing! I saw THAT in a video too! :)
All beautiful pets happy new year
Awesome name for your gecko! Dax is one of my favorite Star Trek characters. 😀🖖
Leopard geckos are literally so cute !! In. 2019 I started out with just a betta and knew like nothing about anything, now I have 3 tanks and a snake hahaha a lot changes in a year
LOL! That sounds like me too. What kind of snake did you get? I would love to get a Western hognose, but due to my state's laws, I have to either catch one myself or have one gifted to me. 😫
A Gamer's Wife I got a banana ball python, pretty easy to care for & are slow moving they’re probably the best for people that like to handle their pets, they tame so easily 🥺
Not sure if you can breed these in a 10g, but if you get a 20 long breeding tank, these guys are the coolest!
Microctenopoma ansorgii, they breed like Bettas and Gouramis (mainly because they're in the same family) but they have the coolest coloration and get 2.4 inches! New Subscriber
I only saw the plants for a second but think I saw crested java fern? I'm always fascinated by any kind of loache or catchfish, so that's what I'd like to see. Video was great, lots of helpful links too. Thanks AGW.
Yay, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I used to have some windelov java fern, and it sold for pretty good money too!
Would love to see an update on what you did with the Shy Guys and how they are doing.
I'd like to see a celeste pearl danio breeding project. Awe...the lil gecko is so stinkin' cute. For sure looking forward to seeing updates on him/her.
👍💕👍
Yay, I'm glad someone is interested in her! :)
In the ten gallon you could probably breed danios or tetra or you can make a new beautiful addition to your house with a miniature reef tank with a small goby and small corals
Your doglet is beautiful!
Your aquariums look great.
Thank you so much! Haha, the 20-gallon is still in progress but I'm cautiously hopeful for the next year.
you watch star trek? super surprise
Sad to hear about the shy guy tank, I actually kinda am modeling my betta tank to be similar and while all my plants have been doing pretty good I just have some crazy brown algae problems 😅 Last night I deep cleaned it so let’s hope that helps with the problem a bit!
Otocinclus and floating plants both worked really well in getting rid of my brown algae! Luckily it seems to be one of the easier algaes to get rid of. Best of luck to ya!
Nice update. GBRs or CPDs and CBS for a twofer.
Ooo, I like all those suggestions!
Hey AGW, in response to your chonky Soundwave, my betta has gotten old and was having trouble eating his food before it sank and then he'd never find it. I trained him to swim into the cup I bought him and feed him there. If you trained Soundwave, you could feed him in a cup and then let the other fish eat in peace and let him out after dinner time. Just a thought! Haopy nee year!!
Ooo, interesting! That is so cool that you trained your betta to do that. Thanks for sharing your trick. :)
Good update
Yay, glad you enjoyed it!
love gouramis and love them and have many of them and are going to try to breed them sometime....
Very good my new friends
For BBA, you can treat them with a combination of fogging with Florish Excel and Siamese Algae Eater.
When you fog, turn off filters and air stones so the water is as still as possible, then take up your daily dosage of Excel according to the instruction on the bottle and instead of just shooting it into the water, get a syringe with a long blunt tip (the type you get for refilling inkjet cartridges) and gently squirt the Excel right into the BBL. Then leave the water still for 5 minutes before turning the filters and any airstone back on.
it can start to work as quickly as within 24 hours. You will know it's working if the BBA turns from black to this pinkish colour. Keep fogging that area for a few more days. Once the BBA is completely dead animals that normally don't eat BBA will start eating it.
Fogging only targets a fairly small area though, so if dealing with a lot of BBA you will have to treat one area at a time. Siamese algae eater would help a lot because they're like the only thing that eats BBA. My SAE seems to prefer the dead pinkish BBA and green hair algae if he has a choice, but I've definitely seen him also eat the living black BBA.
happy new year, so the betta is doing fine with these fishes?
"pretty penny"
Try Breeding Boraras Brigittae even more Tinier
Ooo, that sounds fun! Yeah, I have no idea why I said that twice; so embarrassing. 😳

You can try breeding killifish! There are so many species and different types, some living annually etc
I don't know why I'm scared to try killifish! They're so beautiful and unique.
YES DAX you better come on!
What plant do you have in the shrimp cup?
You score extra points for naming your pet after Jadzia Dax :)
Please do some Axolotls! They’re so cute!!!
Just picked up some Pygmy Corys. You should breed them, plus they are adorable!
Pygmy Corys breed very easily, at least I've found it to be so, and I am not a breeder of fish. There is a good video I've watched which makes it clear how to do it, but I found that video AFTER I found baby cories...I only watched it to see what I had done. Turns out water changes really help the process along.
0 dislikes, now that's what i like
You're too kind. 😁
I LOVE YOU SOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!
YOU'RE AWESOME!!!!!!
you my inspire person and I just a kid using her dad's CZcams account
When I heard you say Happy New Year i wanted to cry hahaha no it isn't!!!
Lol every time I hear that in a video from January I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry
New subscriber here. Really enjoying your videos. I'm a Guppy person myself, but I vote for breeding Golden White Cloud Mountain Minnows or Longfin (Golden if you can find them) White Cloud Mountain Minnows. I just got some Golden ones for the first time ever and I'm absolutely falling in love with them. They're so adorable! I even saw mine breed, though I'm not sure I've got any fry yet. My first time breeding anything other than livebearers. 😊 So I vote for Golden or Longfin (Golden) White Clouds!
I love the look of long fin white clouds! Gotta see if my local fish store can order some for me.
Nice work!! Try breeding Ottos
Ooo, that would be a challenge for sure, but I might be able to try it!
@@GirlTalksFish It will be a challenge for sure. Just try it and you never know...
I'm a reptile keeper and now I'm thinking about getting into fish.
I made the same mistake with my duckweed. I let it cover the top of my tank and it slowly started Starving my bottom plants. This is great tip for anyone getting into planted tanks. Too much top water plant can be bad thing too
Yeah, it was such a "duh" moment for me. Gotta clear out some more today, but I've got a local fish auction coming up soon too so maybe I can hold off a little and sell some of my red root floaters then.
I have just about all of to friend for he’s goldfish. It’s was great for fry cover. And algae control. Listen learn
I suggest trimming the unhealthy leaves of your anubias to help promote new leaf growth
What filter do you use with this tank?
Are you still selling the Christmas moss? Id love to buy some !
back when we all thought 2020 would be the best year yet
do you still have the kuhli loaches?
What substrate is that with your Cory cats? Is it sand?
U could try and breed killifish!
How about Golden lined pencil fish? I wanted something different so I got these. The color of these is amazing after they matured. 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿
Ooo, you're the first person to mention pencilfish! I wonder how hard they are to breed.
Did your fish survive okay through the plant struggles? Also, do you quarantine your new plants as well as your new fish? We have our first 20 gallon tank and I didn't quarantine my plants before introducing my first few fish; I hope I haven't doomed them!
Advance happy new year
Merry Christmas and happy new year to you too!
I'm not sure what I'm doing right but I got a tank running with some plants in no filter at all !!!!! a heater maybe 30 cardinals a few bristle nose cats and elephant snails this has been like this 3 months don't test any water always use tap water to do a water top don't use any chemicals. this is holding my fish while I set up a new tank it seems to be taking forever (dry start bio culture plants 1 week and counting maybe 3 more weeks ) using this method don't want any snails apart from the ones I add elephant and maybe nitrite
How about breeding Bettas (the pricey ones)?
Belate Christmas and happy holidays
Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and your loved ones! 🎉🎉
You should breed livebearers....try to show a generation or two as an ongoing thing for 2020.....should prove interesting...and entertaining....Thanks!
All the fish are chunky haha
You should breed apistogramma panduros. The females look like bumblebees and the males look stunning
6:28 is the oto trying to eat his slime coat?
Try breeding mollies
you should breed Kuhli loach's
Ooo, I love that idea! Would love to see a tankful of tiny water noodles. :)
You should start a guppy breeding, high end or common either one is good, that’s what I’m currently doing and so far it’s going alright you can see a bit in my videos, you’ll love breeding guppies
Im nature zone, I changed my name. You should breed dwarf Pufferfish. Guppies would be fun, shell dwellers would work. I’m really getting into fish, I’m planning on getting a colony of pea Pufferfish, and breeding them. I think that the fertilizer made the algae grow in your tank.
Ooo, dwarf puffers and shell dwellers! I believe you're the first person who has mentioned either of them. Thanks for the suggestions!
Omg where did you get your betta tank from?????? What is it called??
Isn't it gorgeous? It's the Top Fin 5-gallon Retreat from Petsmart. www.petsmart.com/fish/starter-kits/top-fin-retreat-aquarium-5230342.html
Did something happen to the axolotls? They weren't included on the list...
Yes, she unfortunately lost them both
You should breed brisel noses plecos or you should breed cray fish
Ooo, I've never kept either before! Thanks for the suggestions. Baby bristlenose plecos look sooo cute.
A Gamer's Wife yeah I breed brisel nose plecos for a bit and I made a good amount of cash 💵
Maybe try breeding platys. There really easy to breed and can sell one at the least 2 dollars. At the most like four dollers
And there are so many beautiful colour variations.
Try Panda Garra they are brilliant at clearing up algae
I looove the look of panda garras! Thanks for suggesting them. :)
I cant wait to get mine. There awesome.
Have fun with your leopard gecko, I keep mine with loose substrate and a heat light, in a pretty controversial way but he is doing well.
Forest Oasis I definitely recommend a heat mat! I’ve read that they absorb the heat a lot better through their stomachs and my leopard gecko loves hers. Also, impaction does not always show physical symptoms, so I would be cautious with loose substrate. I’m definitely no expert, but I hope these tips help! I’m glad you have a happy leopard gecko. :)
I’ve had mine for 2 years. He has a heat pad on the side of his tank, I’d recommend checking out the biodude Josh Halter and his leopard gecko setup. Bio active is definitely the was to go.
And I don’t think you should keep a baby leo on lose substrate though.
Oh okay. I was worried when you said “loose substrate” that you were referring to sand, but I agree that bioactive setups are great for adults. Props to you for taking good care of your leo!
The soil is a mix of my old tropical soil, the tank used to be for frogs, it contains very little sand. He doesn’t eat substrate thought.
Grade A for your dog training skills! Want some fancy guppies for your ten gallon? ;) lol
Breeding a betta fish is a big challenge as you can’t keep the fry together when they grow up
Yeah, that's definitely one of the main reasons I haven't attempted it yet. :P
Happy New Year. I have a 29 Gallon planted aquarium, with anubias, java fern, some crypts, a couple of amazon swords, and some frogbit, which I made a corral for. Since I added the frogbit, I have noticed that my nitrates are between 5 and 10 ppm before a water change, which I do once a week. I am currently fertilizing with 3 pumps of easy green once a week. should I increase the easy green in an effort to raise my nitrate level? I could add an extra pump mid week and see how that goes by testing the water mid week as well. Do you have a suggestion? Thanks.
I should add that i have 4 otos, 4 cory cats, 3 gold ring danios, 4 white cloud mountain minnows, and a nerite snail. The tank is 3 months old. Ph is 7.2, ammomia is 0 and nitrites are zero.
The tank is 3 months old. Ammonia is 0 and nitrite is 0. The tank is about 60% stocked according to aqua advisor.
That sounds like a beautiful tank! Yes, I found that the frogbit is _really_ good at sucking up nitrates, so I had to increase my dosage to 3 pumps twice a week (to get up to 20 ppm nitrates) because my other plants were starting to suffer! I would say do a combo of increasing by 1 dose at a time during the middle of the week (and measuring the water to see its effects) and also removing a lot of frogbit so that it only covers 25% of your water surface. I've noticed that by doing that, my stem plants have really started to take off again. :)
@@GirlTalksFish thank you for your reply. Have a great week.
Can you breed fancy guppys
I totally should! Thanks for the suggestion. :)
Hi there!! I'm new to your channel and the fish keeping scene (kind of thrown into it) and I need help! I have a few questions on how I can take care of the fish I have and what I need to change as I don't feel like what was given to me is going to help them thrive. Can I contact you?
Congrats on your new aquarium(s)! Unfortunately, I got overwhelmed with requests for personalized help, so I now offer help for my Patreon supporters. However, I often answer questions in my CZcams comments (especially from my subscribers like you), so feel free to post it here! I also like to get help from Facebook groups like Aquarium Group Support. That way I can post pics/videos and get lots of people's advice. Hope that helps!
😂 I’ve had moments like that 💡
Sorry I was a little late this time
Can you breed blue neocardinias???
Hehe maybe! I was also thinking of trying caridina shrimp but I'd definitely have to make RODI water.
@@GirlTalksFish True, they are known to be a lot harder to keep. I have been told that you can use destilled water and add minerals later since the TDH in destilled water is 0
Guppies you should breed them
im from the future and i dont think you ưant to end 2019
Omg lol, my name is Jadzia also named after Jadzia dax from deep space nine
How cool!

Endlers livebearer
Ooo, I should get some ladies for the males I already bought.
Water sprite!
Ding ding ding, you're correct! 😁
It’s likely the opposite. I believe you beyond overdosed your substrate with fertilizer. You may also consider dosing iron and potassium rather than nitrogen-based fertilizers
That was java moss not Christmas moss
🖖
Siamese algae eaters will take care of the black algae
OK RANT TIME... A tiny square of moss for 8 dollars? I live in the central US and I got some java moss which I couldn't hardly get to grow. I grabbed a patch of moss from my freaking back yard, threw it in the tank, and it grew like Jack's bean stalk. Anyway, my issue is: It would be nice if aquarists would stop pretending that they're trying to be nice when they're actually trying to get rich quick. Maybe more people would be willing to do planted aquariums if plants weren't ridiculously expensive for what little tiny bit you get, so that by the time you've planted your small tank up you've dropped a $100 easy. Go to any local greenhouse and you can get a hell of a lot more of almost any terrestrial plant for $8, so what's the aquarium hobbiests' excuse when their plants grow super fast and easy can often be grown out of water? Are they all living paycheck to paycheck, or is it the other way around and they have a different understanding of the value of a dollar than I do? Shipping costs aside (I understand it's going to be higher for living things), it's still pretty ridiculous.
How are u not famos
Lol, probably because I wore sunglasses for 1.5 years on this channel (for privacy reasons). People tend to trust more when they can see your eyes. 😎
