I get asked all the time how I package and ship live plants through the mail and in this video, I'm going to reveal all of my secrets!
I came up with a great method for packaging live plants that ensures they will arrive at their location in the same condition they left.
The best part about this video is that I was able to collaborate with the recipient of the package and he filmed the unboxing!

With your enthusiasm, I have somehow gone from being anxious about shipping my plants crosscountry to feeling pumped and excited. Thank you so much!
Awesome, Vince! Good luck and have fun with it.
My favorite thing about this video is Mike’s enthusiasm! Kinda wanna get a fig plant now..
Thanks for watching, Aurora! Glad to inspire.
Hi.. do you think it will last for 18 days? I was planning to get calathea from Singapore to Philippines.. do you think it’ll survive? Thanks
Hoping to get a response from you 🙏
Mike Kincaid notice me 🙏
Oh yes.
We don't want to hear a boring person talking lol
@@valerieaikopalileo1769 I noticed you just now! I had a plant last for almost 3 weeks in the package like this and it came out just fine. It was a fig tree that was shipped to me and got lost in the mail.
This is the absolute best video on how to ship plants! You can feel the love and passion through the video! Thanks for this video Mike.
So glad you enjoyed it, Samantha!
I sell trees to and I just learned a lot!! Thank Mike!
Wow, what a nice compliment! If a fellow plant shipper is learning something then I must be on the right track. Thanks for that!
Hi please help me how I can select plant category on Amazon
Awesome
I'm about to start growing plants and video is so helpful.
Wondering what is the name of that cardboard a D where do you get it from?
Did you wrap the trees just like that... that must be much harder :-)
Mike Kincaid agree mike
It just shows how much you care and I love you for that! 💝
Keep carrying, no matter how busy the deliveries get!
🤗
Awe, thanks Julia!
Mike, I followed these instructions and shipped a delicate plant from NC to Ohio in June. The plant was shipped Priority Mail, but took a detour through Texas and 8 days in transit, however, the plant arrived perfectly and the buyer was thrilled. Thanks so much for this video!
That's a great technique you used for packaging, Mike. I will keep this video as a reference, if and when needed.
Thanks for your support, Steve! Hope all is well with you guys on the other side of the mountain.
Nice to see people like you care enough to go the extra mile. That is awesome!
I pack care packages the same way when using the flat rate boxes at USPS. You are right, the USPS does play football with packages. So does UPS and Fed Ex because my Amazon packages are beyond recognizable sometimes.
I've shipped several seedlings and plants to my son who lives in a small port town in Alaska. There are a lot of herbs and vegetables that he can't get locally so I've been sending him plants that he can grow. Using your method here everything made it to him safe and sound. Thank you for sharing your idea
Awesome! I'm so glad to hear that, Ella.
Thank you sir. I'm starting Green Arm Gardening and I'm grateful for your videos.
Doing research for my etsy house plants shop set up. This video was number one in the youtube search! So very, very helpful. Thank you, Mike. Another well done video. Really enjoyed seeing the buyer's reactions 😁
Thanks Joan, glad you liked it! Good luck with your shop!
I'm going to be mailing my first plant this week and this video was so much more helpful than my basic google search. Thank You for your quality info and you just got a new subscriber too
UPDATE: Both plants that I mailed arrived safely and in PERFECT condition!!! One traveled to California while the other traveled to the tip of Florida and I'm in Utah so that's great to know that this method works well for close and longer distances!
Awesome! Thanks for the sub.
nice and healthy looking fig shoots
GREAT Job Mike 👍.. I think this video of you showing how to pack and ship a plant should go VIRAL for all those sellers that are out there selling plants on line...I must say this is the Best packing method of a plant that I have seen....Wish all of us buyer could receive our plants that we purchase in the condition as this young fig tree did...The gentleman when he started opening the box he had a look of Surprise and was Very impressed with the care you gave his fig tree in shipping..I think he just fell in ❤ with his little fig tree 🌱
Thanks for the really nice comment! I sure hope it goes viral. I agree, we should all be able to receive the plants we paid for in the condition the picture shows and hopefully this will give some sellers some great ideas!
Thank you Mike, I live in CT and I am moving to SC in a couple of months and I have three house plants that I want to mail there the day before I fly there. You made my day so I know how to package my plants so they will be safe and not fall apart. Great video and presentation. I learned so much. Thank you again.😄 Made my day!!

This is just what I was looking for. Brilliant idea! 👍
Thanks sooo much! This was awesome! I mailed my sister rooted cuttings of rosemary, a variegated mariesii hydrangea, and canna lilies using your method! Everything arrived beautifully. Thanks!

This genius!!! Thank sharing your method for shipping a plant. My family thought I was crazy when I said I was send love plants through the mail. It’s easy enough that o can come exactly what you did! 👍
It's so easy and really holds the plants really snug in the package. Good luck and have fun. By the way, when they start thinking you're crazy, you're on the right path.
Best plant shipping method I have seen yet, Also, your enthusiasm is contagious. Great videos man.

Love your energy and very detailed video! I'm moving and need to ship some very precious plants cross country and this helps so much! Thanks.
So glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching and good luck with your move.
Thank you so much for demonstrating how to wrap a package with a live plant. I am shipping an Angel wing begonia tomorrow. Now, I don't have to worry about the leaves being damaged during shipping.🤗😄🌞
You never know what the postal service will do with your box but this method ensures extra protection and that the top of the plant doesn't get smashed. Good luck!
I totally agree with you, people pay alot of money for their plants they deserve to have a good presentable plan🌷👍
Your enthusiasm is SOOOO CONTAGIOUS!! I LOVED watching this! Thank you again!
You are so welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it!!!
Awesome vide, Mike! Thanks for sharing!
What an idea!! 💡 U r genius Mike❤️❤️❤️❤️
Just wanna say thank you so much for this video! I’ve now shipped 12 plants using method and have gotten great feedback from buyers!
Awesome!
I also sell plants online and I can make one improvement in that which will reduce shipping cost.
You have put plant in between of cardboard length.. put it towards bottom and not exactly touching the bottom. Then there will be a small gap at the bottom of box and pot base. Just fill it with either bubble wrap or balls and then tape it.. thus the total height of the item with packaging will get reduced which will make volumetric weight way less than present.
Thanks for the idea.
Another great demonstration, Mike!
Thanks, Charles! I made this one a few years ago when I realized this was a genuine problem, lol. I kept having this idea pop in my head and had to try it. Worked out beautifully and I've been shipping plants like this ever since.
Brilliant!
Heck yeah!! Thank you for sharing this video - I absolutely love how much thought you put into your packaging and care for your customers' experiences. I'm moving across the country soon, and while I'll likely be gifting some of the houseplants I've enjoyed here for years, but the few plants I'd really like to keep are much more likely to arrive intact now that I've watched your video. Yay!! Thank you so, so much!
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it. Have a safe trip and enjoy your new home.
Cute puppies!!! And thanks for the packing inspiration!
Great job, I've got some tomato plants to send, and I've been planning and trying allsorts of ways!Your way is the one I choose.

Thanks, Connie! Nothing for sale right now but I appreciate the support.
Thank you for showing the unboxing, I needed that!
My pleasure! Gad you enjoyed it.
I'm not a business type; just wanted to send my out of state friend a mango tree sapling from my yard this summer, but this looks so good and safe! Great ideas, thanks so much for it, I'm sure it'll work out wonderfully.
It occurs to me that if you're less worried about appearance you could also use unfolded cereal boxes or regular thick cardboard (when sliced/scored vertically every half inch inch or so on the outside, to allow for easy curving) instead of the thick cardboard paper to get the same stabilized effect too.
Sounds like a great idea!
'Figgin' genius wrapping idea.👍😁
Thanks, lol
You may want to try 1 gallon twist tie close plastic bags from Wally World.
The Twist Tie Bags (1 gal, w/ twist ties, $0.032/each) cost less than 1 qt Zip bags ( $0.038/each).
They should be large enough for you to pull it up over the quart pot and use the twist tie to secure the mouth of the bag around the stem of the plant.
This would eliminate all the messy, sticky taping or the need for the paper towel, unless you want to keep it for moisture and to keep the soil from moving around.
Admittedly, it may require some repositioning of the tape to hold the cardboard on, but the time and cost savings for someone doing this for profit should be worth it.
Great video and thank you for all the hard work you put into this channel!
God bless.
That is a fantastic idea that I hadn't considered, thanks!
You are the man!!👍🏾 Thank you so much for sharing!
