- Here it is, how to make money with plants in your living room. Learn how to propagate, grow, and sell plants for cash. It's like having your own money printing press right in your own home and you can hit the print button any time you need some extra cash. This is an excellent home based business that anyone can start on a shoestring. Selling plants from home is simple, cheap to get started, and fun. If you love plants, especially houseplants, and you have fun propagating them, then this is the home based business for you and you should start rooting cuttings to create a "backyard nursery" for yourself. This business is no different than urban farming, you're just doing it with houseplants and landscape plants. There's one big secret. Chase the value you'll provide, not the money you'll get. If you do that, the money will come.

I would love to. But, right now I can’t I live in my truck (I’m a truck driver) and use my daughters address for mail. So, I watch your channel and dream.😉
Thank you! ❤😊
I had a large thornless blackberry in my back yard for years. A skunk moved in under it when the plant was about three foot around. I never had a problem with him. He only came out at night and kept the bugs in check. 20 years later and 10 feet across. We still live in peace.
Haha, that's an awesome story. Put a smile on my face, thanks Patricia!
Love it
Aww I love this story!! Thanks for sharing 🦨💚
I had the same thing happen in kentucky with blackberry bushes. The only trouble was it got a little scarry when the horses came up trying to nudge their noses into the bucket and didn't want to go away. Thankfully they never made enough a bother to upset the skunk.
20 yrs with a skunk? Wow. Awesome. We love our wildlife, too.
Money is not the root of all evil, it's _the love of money_ that's the root of all evil.
Exactly!
Indeed. 1 Timothy 6:10, "For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. By craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows."
@@ianmensik8245 that translation butchers the scripture sooooo badly. It makes it sound like every single sin is caused by the love of money, when it’s not. Get a KJV.
That's EXACTLY RIGHT!
Oh shoot you beat me to it! Religious people don't seem to know their own book of evil :-)
Thanks for the encouragement.
Last year I even sold dozens of plants to people like taxi drivers who were driving me home and saw my garden. Neighbors are my customers and even my medical doctor is coming here to buy my products regularly now.
Awesome! It's a lot of fun, isn't it.
@@MikeKincaid79 yes, there is a minivideo about my garden which a friend made in September. She was completely surprised because I started that garden just in April 2020. Now I will start selling in the internet.
@@katipohl2431 Have fun growing your business, Kati!
Do you need a license or anything like that to sell plants you grew from seeds? I started about 20 tomato plants I want to sell at our yard sale?
In Pennsylvania we see growers sell by the roadsides, farmers markets, flea markets, road side signs by their house "tomatoe plants, bell pepper plants, cucumber plants", just my opinion, if you can sell your plants, fruit or flowers at a yard sale, I would go for it! Maybe if you visit a farmers market and ask, they would know, (or greenhouse?) By the videos I've seen so far, he's mentioned using heirloom plants and looking up if a particular one has a patent (roses video), so that says something if you make it your "buisness"... good luck in your endeavors! ❤-John's wife
Mike, Your enthusiasm is addictive. Found a way to get lots of material for cuttings and wanted to share. I saw an older gentleman triming his crype Myrtle's so I stopped. Asked if he would like to get rid of his pile. Man was he happy. I loaded my truck. He also let me take cuttings off other plants an trees too. Stuck hundreds. Helped him an me both.Win/win. We're retired. Extra money would sure help but what I enjoy most is meeting an talking to the people. My wife makes wreaths. Betty's burst of creation...Facebook market place. We meet so many nice folks. Plants are coming along nicely an should have some to offer in a year or so. Good things take time. Proverbs 3; 5&6. Thanks Mike !
Correction... Bursts of creations by Betty
That's great, Dean. I've done the same many times. People are always very friendly about sharing their cuttings if you ask. The videos I did about the english laurel all started with me driving through a nearby neighborhood and seeing a man trimming his hedges. I stopped and asked if I could take some trimming and he was more than happy. We talked for a while and hit it off pretty good. Those are the people I always remember. Thanks for sharing your story and I'll be sure to look for your wife's store on Facebook.
I collect my seeds and sell them on FB Marketplace @ $1 or $2 for a generous quantity. Morning glory, zinnia, cosmos, cleome, larkspur, hyacinth bean, etc. Easy to grow and a zen moment for me to collect from my yard.
I also propagate hydrangea, wandering jew, birds' nest plants, and especially spider plants to resell.
I enjoy teaching others how to care for the plants I sell. I've learned so much from your videos, Mike. TY!!
That's so awesome to hear, Brenda! Glad you've found success and thanks for being a part of the family here!!!
@@MikeKincaid79 Thanks! You are a wealth of great info. I will be propagating hydrangeas in a tote again this year. I was very successful last summer.
I’d like to do this do I need to get a nersery lisence?
I am from Eswatini (Swaziland) in southern Africa & doing same, should also start selling online, got a lot of plants that strives this part of the world. Thank you guys.
That is such a cute idea 🥰 🌱I sell my own diy shrimp and baby fish foods for break even too, if people can enjoy the hobby at the start and some want to go deeper into it they’ll likely remember you and come back to purchase something more substantial down the road, every interaction can start a domino effect over time ✨❤️
Mike, you are such a true motivation and inspiration! :) I'm about to start my own nursery, the job I always wanted to do, and now, after 15 years of office job I'm going OUT! Can't describe the happiness and excitement, and to watch your videos and see you being so passionate about plants and propagation, makes me truly courageous and inspired to follow the same. Thank you for that!
You are so welcome, Ana! Congratulations on cutting ties with your job and seeking what you truly love. Good luck in your new endeavors.
@@MikeKincaid79 Thank you, and also, besides wonderful ambition and inspiration, thank you for sharing all your know knowledge and experience, your channel is a real treasure for us learners.
I have been working with plastics many years. It's been about 12 years with employers and 32 years self employed. I have some decent yard and always loved nature and planting my property. The end of this year I stop taking orders for plastic and often with a timeline attached. I will be propagating plants. I have started to. For me then it will be hobbies that fill my heart. Plants , shop creations , from wood mostly. Some camping and fishing as well. I love to start plants and see them in the landscape. I have a lot of plants in my yard I can propagate. I kept their plant tags to be able to identify them. I have lived at this home for 32 years. I really like your passion for plants.🙂
Hi Mike! I love your videos! I’m one of those seniors without much money. I figured it up and I need to make $200 more a month and I can retire. At 70 yrs old, I’m ready. But I’ve always loved the job I do helping people. Your approach is so relatable. I have plants, I love plants and your videos are teaching me so much more about them. Please don’t stop!!!
You can absolutely do this and make up that difference you need. I'm rooting for you!
I have been a horticulturist for 20 years. Propagation is my passion. Tropicals/cacti/succs. The free info you give out on these v logs is an asset that only needs to be plugged in to in order to get there. Knowledge of your product, a solid (but tweakable) plan, a lifelong passion for learning and willingness to do so are keys to success. Thx for the online sales info, as online is a new frontier for me. Looking forward to learning more from ya--
Glad you're here Andrea! We've created a family of plant enthusiasts over the years and I cover all kinds of topics in my videos. Have fun learning from them and welcome to the family!
mike is my master of propagating Blueberries :'D last spring i was successful from 800 ..rooted ~600 :) propagating are soo addictive ....this spring i need to plant them and next year will have some berries thx to mike
Wow, thanks for the compliment and thanks for sharing your success! Great job!!!
Wooaah❤
Hi Mike, thanks for this video. Retired and 74 years old I have started a very small home based nursery. This does work. On Thursday night I advertised coriander plants in a 14 cm pot on the local Facebook buy and sell groups. Within hours the enquiries started coming in. By 6 pm Friday night all 23 pots had been sold at $2 per pot.
That's awesome, Graham! Proud of you man. Keep building on that momentum!
I am 73 and have so many extra plants from divisions or just triming plants and sticking them in water to root and then plant! Selling them sounds really good!!! Am working on a shade room and protection for seedlings from the birds.
Love your videos and all of your followers and their stories and comments too. I'm learning so much, getting many ideas, reading others experiences and stories and enjoying the good company here along the way. thank you everyone!-John's wife
Wonderful! And I'm happy that you're reading the comments and finding great ideas in there as well.
Thank you Mike, I'm one if those seniors that can use a few bucks to pay off my mortgage. I'm going to try it! I always love watching you interact with your family 👍
You can do it! I’ve got faith in you.
Hi Mike, what can u teach me about my plectranthus Mona lavender I just bought 💜 in full bloom. Can I keep it
You made me cry.....what a generous heart you have wanting to help people. I am in Australia trying to live on Aged Pension, it's very hard to get by. You are inspirational, thank you!!
So glad you found this, Jools! I hope it inspired you and gave you the push to make it happen. Good luck!
A lot of us have been wondering how to sell on line, your demo made it easy.
Thank-you Skipper ⛵
Glad it was helpful! There are so many aspects to selling plants from home. If this is popular enough, I'll do more on the topic over time.
Wow! I never thought about doing this in my own home. Love propagating plants and barely have room for anymore but plants are my obsession. Love to see them grow. I will definitely be thinking about how to start this. I love doing this. Thanks for sharing. You ROCK!
Sound like a perfect business fit for you, Rosita. Good luck and have fun!
I just started loving plants as a hobby . Single full time dad . Bought a croton . Moon valley . Pathos , pepperomia I think it’s called lol . These videos are helpful thank you
Well have fun with it Alex. Glad to help inspire!
Hey Mike, Thanks for the pep 🌶talk. I wish my bosses in the garden center where I worked were even 100th as nice, honest and real a guy as you are.
I appreciate the really kind comment, John. I'll always be open and up front with you and I enjoy teaching what I do.
I feel like the plants apreciate a kimd honest attitude too. they feed on life just like the rest of it
@@cinderellie9583 this is the truth right here
While cloning my plants,Ive heard everything you said.Keep up the good content Mike and thank you.
You are so welcome!
I love it . Chase the value to others instead of chasing the money for yourself, and the money will come. Total inspiration for me . Thank you !
No problem, Michael. Glad this was inspiring for you. It's absolutely true!
Mike you got it. It's the love of money, not money itself. I just love your principles. Thank you for your heart. It's so big.
I appreciate that!
Hay Mike, this is the kind of video I need to see as I am starting my own plant nursery here in Maryland. I plan on having some product available this spring to sell at farmers markets and through ads.
Right on, Michael! Start small and build bigger as you go.
Thanks so much for this video! At last, sound, practical advise and an idea that would cost virtually nothing to set up and it's realistic to achieve! Cant wait to get started, so lucky to have a large garden and also put my horticultural skills to use!
You summed it all up, Lorraine! Good luck and thanks for your support here.
Thanks for this vid! I'm one of those retired gals on a fixed income, in an apt.. I love plants, and propagating them. I start my seeds in an aero garden, and then sell or trade extras on marketplace. Locally. I don't make much, but it helps to pay for supplies for my hobby.
Right on! Keep doing your thing. You can grow it as big or small as you want.
I absolutely Love you Mike! I appreciate your passion, knowledge and willingness to share, it has helped me ALOT in the past few years!! Thank you for all you do!!!
Man, Scott, I really appreciate the positive comment. Makes this whole channel worth it. Glad you're learning from the videos! Enjoy your summer buddy!!!
I love this video! I was just sitting in my house messing with my plants and wondered what to do with all these babies I have
Glad it was helpful! Have fun selling them
Love your witness! Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome, Ron, thanks for being here!
Ditto!
My daughter was telling me this very same thing a few days ago. They say nothing happens by accident 😊🙏🏾 Be blessed and thanks for sharing such a heartfelt video
Your daughter is a wise woman.
Had me saying amen to what you said at the beginning regarding money and what the perspective needs to be. Wise words we can use for any side hustle. I'll definitley be sharing this with my friends in the homesteading communtiy here on YT and elsewhere and actually I am hoping to be able to do this to help make money to make ends meet in the next chapter of life here. You know, I watch a lot of YT channels on propagation and honestly have found your channel to be one of the best and the instructions most approchable. So thanks for the great instruction, encouragement and all the rest. Appreciate your generousity and love for helping others. You are a great enabler for those of us who can't stop propagating! Thanks I think..lol Your propagating fool friend from Portland ~Patty~
btw, hope the hand is doing well.
🤣😁💕
Thanks Patty! You've been around here a long time and I appreciate your support. It really feels like a family we've created here and I wouldn't have it any other way. Glad to help infect the world with such an addictive hobby, lol. Thanks for being here, more to come! By the way, I really need to get down there and visit some of those beautiful gardens you guys have. I live just 2.5 hours north and have never been to them.
Well said. You are awesome! Thanks for sharing 💕
You are so welcome
Wow, thank you! Didn't realize it is so easy fo sell on these sights.
It's very easy! Have fun with it, Karen.
Thanks Mike!!!! Thank you for sharing with all of us your love and passion for propagating plants and encouraging us to give this a try!!!!! You have inspired me to give this a try!!! Thanks!!! Matt
Awesome, Matt! I'm happy to inspire you. Remember what Yoda said, "Do or do not, there is no try." LOL Have fun with it man, start small and just get 1 or 2 plants sold, then build from there. Eventually, you'll find your niche and get your system down.
Yes i agree on you, there is money in the plants...i start planting when i see how u propagate roses, and thank u bcuz i follow ur how to do it and it was successful...i relly love planting so much and now selling roses, and small income...thank u very much...from philippines...
You are so welcome, glad to help!
I'm in highschool and love growing stuff. I am thinking about doing this cause it can be a really easy way to get money.
Go back and watch the video. Don't chase the dollars, chase the value that you provide for the buyer. If all you're looking for is an easy way to get money, you'll never find it. Also, quit thinking about doing it and just do it. That's my advice for the day young grasshopper.
Well done Mike thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching, Alex!
Good for a pastor. Absolutely!!!!!
God bless you my brother for sharing this knowledge. Twice I've started a nursery and had decent sales, I climb trees for a living, but every day I'm getting older and one day I just won't be able to anymore. So I've been considering selling plants now to establish my business so when that day comes I already have a business I can make a living off of, that I enjoy, and that won't put me in danger. I super hate the internet but alas these are the days we live in. So I'm definitely inspired to stop stalling and get started already. I live in an apartment so I don't have the land right now, but hey God Provides so I'm confident that once I speak with a few associates a way will be opened up for this venture. Thank you once again, keep up the great content. 👍
Glad to inspire! Start small and prove the process to yourself and expand from there. Work with plants you love and expand from there. Good luck!
Honestly this was a geat video.
Wealth do not come fast, but comes gradually. And we need to enjoy the ride bro.
God bless
That's it!
This is so awesome. Thanks soooooooo much.
Glad you're enjoying it, Brenda! If it's a popular topic and people want to hear more then we'll keep going with it.
Mike where u been, I've missed your stuff! I so sick of winter I'm ready for spring and following your stuff. Love ya man.
Thanks! I'm still here. Spring is on the way and I'm getting excited!
Found your videos by researching how to propagate oak trees. I really enjoy your positive and enthusiastic outlook and willing to help others. I started training/growing/pruning bonsai trees this spring (Hemlock, Azalea, Juniper, White Pine to name a few) and now want to get into growing my own trees. Making a little money on the side by selling some of the stock that I propagate (if I have success in growing them hah) would be fantastic! Thank you for the knowledge and encouragement! Subscribed now and have a lot of videos to catch up on :D - Thanks Mike!
Hey, thanks for the positive comment and good luck on your adventure!
Hey Mike! Awesome! Thanks! Hugs🤗💜
Hugs!!!
I feel like you would be an amazing podcaster. I would for sure listen!!:)
Thanks! Maybe I should just turn all my videos into podcasts, lol. Of course, then you wouldn't be able to see anything.
You are very inspiring, your enthusiasm is contagious!
Happy to inspire! Good luck, Susana!
You remind me of my dad, funny and realism. We can’t grow plants to make money, but we can definitely grow plants perfect to ketch the eye to make others love what we have to sell!
That's it exactly!
Finally made it! Time to relax and soak it all in lol.
Glad you made it, lol
Hi, Mike: I’m a recent subscriber. I love the passion you bring to your videos!! Thanks for the inspiration....you’ve given me lots to think about! I’m happy to learn that “money grows on trees!” This is also great life advise. Keep up the great content!!
Glad to inspire! I'll keep bringing the videos if you keep watching!
Wow Mike, awesome video, and just what I needed to hear. You truly have the gift of getting to people. This video truly inspired me, I have so many things growing and was planning on my start this spring, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it, and I'm really glad it inspired you Uncle Paul! Good luck in your endeavors!!!

Awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You're awesome ! Love you're videos! And all you're great information !!!!!!! Don't know if I'll ever sell my plants I love giving them away lol
That's fun too! Thanks for your support Ryan!
Glad I found this video. I've been growing my own house plants for years and I get pleasure from knowing my plants have gone to live on somewhere with someone else. Thing is, I still don't know how to turn my passion into a sustainable job for me ✨
Glad it was helpful. Everybody finds their own path. Take the tips and apply them to your situation. The best thing you can do is break it down to the smallest step. Just grow one plant that you like and sell it. When you find a winning formula for you in your area then expand on it. Good luck!
And love spending time with you ! Thanks for sharing!😊
7:05 Henry is like your cash register "cha-ching" sound: three times you mentioned money/value.
LOL, he sure is a good rooster. Maybe one day he'll start laying golden eggs. Wait a minute, that's not how that works, lol.
Thanks for sharing Mike! Loved the info! Very helpful. Cant wait for the next video👍👍 keep em coming 😀
I appreciate the feedback and glad you enjoyed it. More to come!
Thanks for doing this video! And you're 100% right. Do something you enjoy and are excited about.

🤣🤣 Well I bought a small pothos & took 5 cuttings & set them in soil 🙃 Wish me luck 🤞
Good luck, Kristy! You've got this, no problem at all. If you have any questions, just ask.
Thanks for the encouragement and all the tips. :)
You bet!
Like all of your videos, this one really inspired me to start selling plants. Keep up the good work that I can tell you love and are passionate about. 👍
Woo Mike well said brother 🙌...thank you for your knowledge. I'm excited I transformed my dog kennel into a 10x10 greenhouse. It's a start until Lord sees fit to help me get a bigger one. This is my dream , thank you for inspiring that..blessings to you guts
You're doing it right. Don't spend what you don't have, just focus on selling plants. Before long you'll be able to afford that dream greenhouse.
This is a dream I've wanted to do, thanks for sharing!
Awesome! Start small, don't spend money to get started, sell a few plants and prove it to yourself. Most important, have fun with it!
I'm truely inspired. Thank you so much much for this. I've got rasberry seedlings shooting up in the grass, I may start with those. AND yes I did watch your vid on that, how to prise them out carefully, which is what lead me to this video. I moved from London uk to Plymouth uk last year and the garden is full of plants I can do this with.
So glad to inspire! You've got a spirit of "I can do it", and you will make it happen!
Thank you sir. I hate when people say money is the root of all evil, you made me smile when you educated on the correct verse. Look forward to watching more of your videos and subscribing.
Thanks so much Richard. Yeah, that one bugs me too when people get it wrong. The money itself isn't the problem but what the person is worshiping is the problem.
Thanks Mike. This is just what I needed. Long time fan. I will make a add today. I got a Longevity Spinach (Gynura Procumbens) Last summer, it is growing in my garden. I took a few clones this fall and decided to make it my winter indoor propagation project. I now have 14 plant that are in gallons that are cranking out clones (100 last round) and a meal every three or four weeks. I am sure I can make more then I can sell. I have 120 additional rooted plants and its time to take clones. Ebay low price, $9.99. I will let you know how it goes. I have friends near Lacy and would love to meet you one trip up there. #I Love Plant Propagation.
Awesome, Robert! Glad to inspire. Sounds like you've got a sound plan, just start small and build. You've got this!
I grow plants and give them to friends. I produce tomatoes, courgettes and beans to give them away. It’s the growing I enjoy. I grow flowers for pleasure and pollinators.
I love these videos.
Thanks for all those tips. Much appreciated.
Great video, I have actually made a couple hundred selling plants out of a downtown apartment this year thanks to you! I also presold about 100 pepper plants so thanks for the ideas and inspiration!
Awesome! That's great to hear, Adam. Glad you've been successful with it.
@@MikeKincaid79 Right after I commented that I got a call from a farmer who wanted to order 2500 plants which I unfortunately had to turn down, but just goes to show this works people!

🌿Good morning! Happy gardening! 🌿
Good morning, Barbara!
I have a big garden that it is not used and this is a great way for making some mini trees to sell! I am away for work 12 hours a day 5 times a week so i think this is a great way for me to work a bit in the weekend and gain results with time that i have :) Many thnanks!!!!
Glad it's helpful and good luck with your projects!
Hiya Mike! From Epsom, South West London 🇬🇧
I'm retired Mum of 4,
I do this but give them all away to friends and my local cat rescue in the summer to sell to cover vet fees for injured/ill cats and kittens. Wouldn't disregard seeds so much 😉 get much more for your money, easier to keep space wise and can always grow on to split later so cheaper to start out!
Love your enthusiasm as usual, I'm missing my garden in the winter here and am struggling with covid lockdown to do something useful.
Plants are a lot cheaper here it would seem than in the States, especially from our numerous supermarkets, hope you and the family are well ❤
We're all well, and yes, lockdown is getting a little old. Looking forward to spring and summer.
totally agree on your philosophy Mike, great sharing :) love all your videos
Thank you! I appreciate you being here.
Thank you Mike! That was very enlightening! Keep up your good work.
Thanks, will do!
I've been considering this since 2019 - I retired July 2020 (stay-at-home) and was searching for something to do to make money but something integrated with something I love to do. Has to be either plants or quilts. Plants are quicker and less expensive to finish to point of sales, so that's the answer!
Great! Hopefully this will give you a starting point. Have fun with it, Sue!
Mike this is another great video! I always enjoy your videos because of your energy! Thank you and have a great week.
Glad you enjoyed it, much more to come!
Dude, I love your passion brother. Thanks for keeping us on track.
Thankyou for the encouragement!
I'm gonna go for it and start selling plants this year.
I have so many perennials that are crouded in my garden that I'm going to divide and pot up this spring and I've been propogating my houseplants all winter, currently have over 200 potted plants in the house and I'm working on creating listings on etsy that I'll put live as soon as its warm enough to safely ship plants.
I'm excited for the possibilities, I've always loved propogating but had to make myself stop when i ran out of room in the house and garden.
Now i can propogate to my hearts content!
You've got this!
Mike, thanks for changing my life.
Ive been planning on doing this and propagating redwoods like crazy for 2 years and collecting baby cedars and dwarf alberta spruce as many as i can find.
I just had no idea about the sales part.
I had ideas etc but im an artist and a grower NOT a businessman. But once you mentioned value for cash it all fell into place.
Thank u for making it so sublimely clear.

This is my first video. I like what I've saw. I recently feel inlove with plants. Last spring & summer I ended up with around 60 plants. I am looking forward to spring this year. I have thought about turn my love into $. Your right, don't chase the $ chase the joy & it won't be overwhelming. Just enjoy it🌷❣
There ya go. You've got it Suzanne! Have fun this spring.

Haha, happy to infect.
Mike you making me say Amen!!!
Great! Thanks for watching and good luck in your endeavors!!!
Great video Mike. My wheels are turning so hard. I'm selling vegetable plants in spring and summer, and house plants fall and winter. Roses too. I was gonna grow and propagate them all anyway. Lol
That's what it's all about, Treva, get those wheels turning, lol. Have fun!
Well said Mike you always speak the truth 👍🥇

Mike thank you for this video and it's nice to make a little extra money but I get so much satisfaction and enjoyment doing this, that is where the value is. Also i live west of Charlotte NC and I have heard that the reaper pepper started in Rock Hill SC that's about 30 miles from me. Thank you again Mike.
Amen!!! May God bless for every helpful advice on your channel
