How to ship live betta fish | All MY SHIPPING SUPPLIES | Shipping Aquarium Fish

- These are all the shipping supplies that I use to ship live betta fish across America. I like to ship my fish using USPS as well as UPS but you can also do so using FedEx. Unlike most fish that require overnight shipping, betta fish tend to do well when being shipped using the USPS 3 day priority shipping. This makes betta fish more affordable to ship than most fish.
In the video, I go over the different shipping supplies that I recommend.
I like to use the USPS 6x7x7 boxes because they are free and a relatively good size. I also try to get thicker fish bags (3 milliliters) because they are less likely to break when I ship my fish. When shipping live aquarium fish it is important to correctly label your box. I use "Live fish: handle with care" stickers as well as "perishable" and "keep out of direct sunlight".

I recommend you to check zoro.com you have excellent styrofoam box itself for less than $4, it’s comes $3 when you have coupons. This box goes well with USPS boxes. Just give try. Hope this help you. Look up styrofoam cutter. It heats the edge or wire used for cutting styrofoam and makes for a neat cut.

Wonderful video! I have shipped microworms last year and some snails this year, working my way up to bettas and fish soon!
Its good to practice on snails, it also helps if you have a friend to send a test shipment to. My first shipment was to Lifewithpets on CZcams and she gave me great feedback. It helped a ton

I think breather bags are the new standard. Less sloshing, less stress, guaranteed oxygen. I've received mine that way after 3 day shipping. But it doesn't work if you fill it all the way up. I'm going to do some tests this year by shipping bettas different ways to my partner (who could use some bettas in his life lol) before committing to what works for customers. breather bags while much much smaller are more expensive though and may not benefit bettas shipped within the same country.

Edit: I actually don't use that insalation I use a plastic one you also find at Lowe's, don't remember what it's called but it's A LOT cleaner!

I am watching this waiting for my 2 females from Indonesia. They were supposed to be here yesterday. I am really trying to be positive, but lacking faith in the post office. I have had 2 shipments and so far the PO has lost both. The first one, the male almost didn't make it and lost a ventral during the trip.
Oh no.. I'm sorry to hear that. So far, I have shipped over 20 fish and all arrived in good condition to their new homes so my experience so far was positive.. but unfortunately there are post office employees that will mistreat packages.

Yes, I make a DIY coldpack as normal icepacks are too cold. I show it in an older shipping video but should make a video about it in the future.

Yup! If you follow the ratio of 3/4 air and 1/4 water they will be good for up for 5 days in a bag although less is better.
I am starting a fish business at home, selling ranchu and tamasaba goldfish, I need to get a good size oxygen cylinder for fish packaging. The problem is Where do you get oxygen cylinder for fish package and what is a good size? Am I buying a empty medical oxygen cylinder and refill the oxygen somewhere else?

Just watching so I know it’s humane to do this… I’ve got a betta on the way and it makes me feel wrong to know they’re in a box in a truck the whole way… the betta is from bettasquad and I’ve read good reviews but I still am surprised you can ship live animals
How are you dealing with shipping in this crazy heat? (I'm in the chicagoland area as well). I may move out of state soon and can't decide if it's best to drive with my fish (i'll be kind of road tripping) or figure out how to ship him to me.
Right now I'm choosing to wait out the heat. I tend to pause shipments in winter and mid summer. I know a IBC breeder who lives in Texas and she perfected shippping bettas in hot temps with her diy cold pack which I will share in the future.
I understand that this is a hobby, but do you make any profit selling online?
I don't breed/sell enough to make a profit.. but some breeders in Asia use it as a way to make supplemental income
