I got a couple female from them. They all had huge stomachs full with parasite worms. I tried to treat all of them, but they didn’t make it. I suggest looking at bettasqueusa, jvbettas, bobstropical fish, and prime bettas! 😃
THAT IS SCARY.... oh gosh
I received 5 females from them about 1 month ago. Huge stomachs and a couple of them had what I believe were parasites. I’ve lost one, unfortunately, and have one that’s not doing so well. 😕
Or get them from betta thailand
I was thinking of ordering the wild type bettas from coast gem. Good luck on your bettas🙏
I should have my second order coming next week or the week after. They do have a great selection, I give them that.
Point of clarification on ammonia spiking in bags once opened: The ammonia itself does not suddenly spike, rather low oxygen and high CO2 levels like those in a sealed shipping bag that has been sealed for quite a while create a low pH, and ammonia is less toxic at low pH than at higher. So it is the gas exchange that drives a pH increase that causes the ammonia to rapidly become much more dangerous than it was.
I live in SD and met the owners, they are super knowledgeable and have great quality fish. Fish doa is always something else all have to deal with, even on Aquabid as well.
Im lucky that live close to their Shop in San Diego and you're right in what you are saying at the end of the video, about how they ship, the owner is a very caring honorable man, the staff also but they are understaffed and hard to find workers with extensive knowledge of fish keeping, They quarantine and medicate them as necessary, but I do notice how busy they are with shipping out, so when I visit the shop(often) Patience is key. BEST SELECTION OF BETTAS FOR SURE
That’s awesome! Wish I was close too. Heard they went through a remodel not too long ago. I don’t think people give them a fair chance. I have another shipment coming in from them hopefully next week
@@JKFishKeeping I got 2 bettas coming to me on next week. Did urs arrived safely? Hope my fish woulb be shipped to me with no damage next week.
I got a video I just posted today with my second shipment 🫣
@@yiqingchen2600 my second video has my second shipment which arrived 100%
I almost bought from coastgem but they won't let you pick your fish. I wanted to pick the one I'd get. So I ended up going with JV Betta. I'm hoping he arrives safe. They're sending him USPS and I've had a time getting USPS to deliver normal mail on the regular. I have a tank full of tannins due to the manzanita wood so I'm not in a hurry for botanicals but it's on my list. I'm brand new to the hobby and collecting every single thing one needs for even a small aquarium is like this endless shopping list. I have bettafix but I will pick up more meds, good suggestion. I knew about the salt so was going to use that, dose the tank before he got here. I still don't have plants but eventually. Hardscape was killer expensive already. Tank is full of wood so hides can wait. I'm very excited for my new fish.
Interesting. The photos they have are the exact fish they are selling unless stated otherwise. I have ordered a dozen from them on two separate occasions and haven’t had an issue. I did order a couple of “sellers choice” but the majority was “you get what’s pictured”
@@JKFishKeeping If you're speaking about coastgem, they do have some individuals buy what you see, but the majority state you'll receive a random fish of the same breed type. I wanted a black samurai but not just any old one. Many other sites take a video and say this is the fish you get. But yeah, sometimes obscure searches on google led to harder find options on coastgem, but I just didn't see them as being a buy what's pictured place for the most part. JVBetta has a video of the fish you get posted on their site, here on CZcams, and it's there via the shipment tracking app too.
Are your bettas using their hides? Trying to decide if I get some. Thank you! My beautiful halfmoon girl in my community tank likes to sit in the floating plants🥰😍
They rarely do, sometimes I think they use it because it’s more of a hassle to avoid it. Who knows, maybe they use it more when I’m NOT around 😅
How would you rate Fritz complete compared to Prime?
Both are great products that do the exact same thing. I believe both treat roughly the same gallons per measurement as well except Fritz is half the cost. The main con for both is that they smell strong in a bad way. I’ve used API for a long time and that doesn’t smell as bad
Que bacana gostei do canal.
Gracias 🙏
Where do you buy your aquarium supplies I want a set up like that 👀🥺
I have a video on how I made the dividers!
Has anyone had GOOD experiences with Coast Gem? I’d like to hear about it. Even the bad ones, what ya got?
I've ordered 8 Bettas from coast gem I've ordered 4 times from them in total no issues with coast gem. just got a recent order I got a new pair of bettas and I've just spawned the new pair last week.
@@opticaloffroadzz945 that’s awesome. Might be a hit or miss thing. My Koi female passed and it seems from internal parasites.
yup I visit the shop often, I even rescued some sick ones and thriving now, but remember he is not a breeder he buys wholesale and that is where things can go wrong they do quarantine and medicate them I have personally seen that
Heard bad things. I ordered from them once and they came in okay but took about 4 weeks to get. Definitely a hit or miss and I wont be buying from them again. I would go with @KingKoigoldfish
@@TimsFishShop I’ll have to check them out if they’ve got a good selection of bettas!
Out of curiosity, how long did it take from when you ordered your fish to when they shipped? I ordered some clown killifish at the end of February and they still haven't shipped. Tried contacting customer service on the website to just get a rough idea on what the hold up might be but crickets. Truly just asking
I remember when I ordered, it stated when the shipping date would be and it was probably like 2-3 weeks out. What it seems like it they post the pictures before they even get the fish in house and they are getting sent from overseas. Their communications are very difficult because before I know they only had like two staff members so that is the downfall. Double check to see if you missed a ship date or something in that realm to give you an idea
i feel like a canister filter is hindered when you put nearly solid dividers....
Normally yes you are absolutely correct but for the purpose of this set up, the spray bar as well as the power, creates enough surface agitation in each section and filtration that utilizes a single outlet.
Hi, what are the dimensions of your tank? (In centimeters)
Should be about 76.2x30.5x30.5
@@JKFishKeeping all right thanks!
lol no wonder their fish comes in DOA, the water to air/ oxygen ratio in the bag should be 40-50% water the rest air/oxygen, can even be less for bettas, and from the looks of the box your styrofoam in the box isn't sealed properly, looks like it has gaps which cant maintain temps in the box properly. Next time I would suggest sourcing out either a breeder or someone with better reputation than what they are getting. There is a a reason why they have such bad feedback, on top of that. Those of you who order wild bettas from them, especially wild betta splenden complex, key note they are not aware of the differences that each species portray, and WILL send you hybrids/ wrong species and not correct it. I have ran into SOOOO many people that I had to correct the species on of the wild bettas splenden complex type that were all bought from Coast Gem. So be very wary on what you get from them.
Yea we will see what the next shipment holds
@ 13:55 mins. "Something you never wanna do is...... you don't know what is in that water." Well, if it is in that water it is also on the fish or does he rinse the fish with alcohol????
Sometimes yes but it’s always safer not to add the water. High levels of ammonia could be something that is in the water but not with the fish. Any meds as well. Things like bacteria or fungus and parasites could very well be on the fish but adding the water would of course contaminate the tank even more. Just volume maths
Got my eyes on a cup of betta fish from Thailand and Indonesia but I live in the u.s. have you ever ordered from out of country and how did it go
I have and it went well. The issue is needing to find a transhipper. You won’t be able to order from overseas straight to your door. Ive ordered a flowerhorn from Thailand a few times, last year shipping alone was about $100. That’s for one box/one fish. Next day air from Thailand to California, then another next day air from California to me
@@JKFishKeeping that's what I was afraid of is not knowing the shipping cost once it gets here to the United States because I don't know what shipping company that will use once it gets here
Yea, usually with small fish it’s less but you can expect somewhere around $30-$60 for an overnight box. $25 if you’re lucky. Most breeders overseas have certain transhippers they use on a normal basis depending on what part of the world they’re shipping to. Otherwise you can find one and see if the seller can work with them. I know a few within the country
@@JKFishKeeping good deal I'll try to contact the seller and find out if I can pick a trans shipper or if he has one that he uses
@@stephenshanebeaty for sure! I’m always here to help out as well if you need anything!
I just ordered 350dollar worth of guppies...hope it arrives good. I want to give small business chances but used PayPal since if something bad happen, it's easier to get refund through dispute.
Tell us how it went
@@anniet494 it actually went great. however I did have ich breakout so make sure to quarantine your fish. besides that every fish came alive and ontime.
Been trying to get more into guppies myself. That’s great news
@@Ghogumang im a little worrird for this, saw someone orded goldfish that had flukes! Im new to fish and worried about this, what products to use.. have you treated the ich?
