    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We're giving this 1970 Chevelle some modern import flare this week! With a twin turbo LSX in the engine bay, we needed some features on the outside to match the power plant. On our first sheetmetal episode we unboxed a set of GTR door handles, and now we're finally ready to do the necessary fabrication to get them installed! We have to cut into original door panel to make some room for these new handles, fab up some new mounting plates, and figure out how to make the GTR upgrade work with the old latch mechanism. There are some debates among the team whether or not the doorhandles were mounted the right way, but Khalel sets the crew straight with a quick google search. In the end, these GTR flush mount door handles give the exterior of this LS Swapped Chevelle a much cleaner and sleeker look that's definitely going to help with the other big surprise we have in store for this muscle car!

There are a lot of people making how-to videos like yours. I have seen a lot of them. I can honestly say, yours are some of the very best. I'm totally shocked that you don't have more subscribers and views. You are not only doing everything right, but you're doing it better than most.
Thank you for this extremely well made video. It was as informative as it was inspiring. I will be using your video as a reference when I do this very same mod on my 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner. I can't wait to see the diehard Mopar fans loos their minds when they see what I'm going to do. Many years ago I took my Plymouth to the Fall Fling Mopar show in CA. More than a few people completely lost their minds. They went on most of the show telling how wrong I was for using a fiberglass hood and saying things like "That car didn't come with a digital distributor from the factory. Or, "You do know that's the wrong a/c compressor" and "That color was never offered on that car in 68". Calling them "fanatics" would be an understatement.

Looks awesome Tim. I have a huge suggestion for you however. If you do "remove" the key hole lock from the driver's door, it will look sic. But if the battery on either the car door or the key fob battery dies for some reason, I presume you're goin with upgrade to keyless entry, there will be no back way to get into the car.
Suggestion: The key hole should remain on the trunk. If in the case of a dead battery, you open the trunk and pull a secondary mechanical handle to pop the drivers side door for entry. The handle could be tuck up the upper left of the rear deck near the trunk hinge.

The whole time you were fabricating the door handles I was thinking that you were going to get pissed at the mods you made and you were going to just buy Kindig handles. I'm glad that you made your own. I thought that you would use 2018-2022 Camaro handles, but yours are nice too. But what about the sharp edges from the door skin?

The fab work isn't 100% done. There will be a good amount of clean up and body work once everything is all roughed in!

I’m so loving this build… man the custom work is just insane it’s like watching an artist… my thoughts on the door could be pins replaced or the lack of use on the passenger, water rust pins degraded shes an oldie but a beauty 👌

I believe they're aftermarket Vette seats. But we'll do a full rundown on them when we go to do the interior!

Any way I could get more info on where you got the new door handles? It's a GTR but what year and model, also are they Japanese direct or are they available in the US? I would be extremely grateful for any information you're willing to share with me. Thank you.
Mush respect for all the work you are doing and the content you are sharing. 🙏 🫡

I don't know why Tim didn't just download the PDF for installing these modern handles onto a 70 Chevelle. Pretty straight forward. Only took him 9 minutes per side. Right? 😉

Love it! Question what's the deal with the orange wheels? I have seen them on a truck for sale in fl. Are they placeholders to keep the finals from getting wrecked while under construction?

They keep the final wheels safe, but it also makes it a bit easier to maneuver the car around the shop as well!

Could Tim tell us who is the maker of his Tig cups? I have been using a gas lens for many years, but those clear lens must have come out since I retired. I noticed him using them on titanium, but didn't realize he used them on sheet metal.

Would have been legit to put the handles vertical, that would have filled the keyhole too and probably fix the ergonomics
