- The timeline placement for Secret Invasion is a tricky one, but I'm here to break it all down in a way that hopefully makes sense. Ultimately we won't know for sure until the Marvels arrives later this year.

CZcams need to add "masterpiece" button to your videos or let only you to make timeline videos 👏👏👏
That’s very kind words. While I don’t ever wanna hold the monopoly on timeline vids, I’m very happy they’ve been received so positively over the years.
@@Geekritique Well, you are holding the monopoly by doing it best! I feel that something is missing until you make timeline videos for each title. 😄
I'm leaning more towards 2026. I think rounding down is something a lot of people do when referring to years especially when it's that long ago and the way people refer to Fury's absence feels like it had to have been more than 2 years.
It does seem like it could be more than 2 years, yeah.
That sounds right
Props to Dakota for Rewatching parts of this show multiple times, I don’t think any of us could’ve done that
I lol’d 🤣
A lot of the individual parts are just fine. There are a bunch of really good isolated scenes in this show. But, because of poor story construction, the final product is drastically *less* than the sum of its parts.
😂
Dang I get that the last two episodes was bad but I feel like the show overall was pretty good ( it also much easier to watch then say she hulk 🤣) but I get it this show had so much potential and just drop the ball
Bro wait I got pinned on a video on my favorite CZcams series?
I wanna say I very much appreciate you always taking the time to make subtitles for your videos.
Thank you for noticing! It’s something I’m very conscious of. Glad you enjoy that.
You and bhl hudson (who happens to be my second favorite MCU timeline enthusiast, after you of course) are the only two independent creators I can think of that almost always do this, which I always love to see, shows effort.
Is BHL Hudson still doing MCU timeline stuff?
@@Geekritique Sadly, I don't believe he is. His last timeline related video was around the time of release of Multiverse of Madness, I believe.
I can’t wait for you to figure out what X-men movies fit into the timeline for Deadpool 3
I can’t wait either!
Bro gonna be fighting for his life making that video
Great video as always. I think 2026 works perfectly. Thx for the kind shout out as well. Keep up the fantastic work, sir!
Thanks man! And I appreciate your work as well. I’m starting to realize, for titles like this, it’s good to balance out my findings with others’ when it’s not initially super clear. So I’m grateful for your commentary.
@@Geekritique I agree...I love teaming up with people like yourself to try to place these trickier items. Been watching you for the last year and always learn something in each vid you release. Plus, your production quality is off the charts. Your vids always look amazing!
@@AbitofEverything4U @Geekritique This conversation was my multiverse of madness haha
We gotta get the MCU Wiki into the chat and we’ll turn it into your Endgame.
@@Geekritique Great point! I do indeed chat quite often with the MCU Wiki team. They are so helpful in brainstorming timeline details and other fun facts. Love that Wiki. Yeah, we all need to do a colab at some point!
Secret Invasion was Fantastic!!
I Loved Secret Invasion!!
Another great analysis! This one was definitely a bit tougher than usual it seems. As for the show itself, I was in the middle on it. It has some great moments in the first half of the season and then the last half quickly drags for me. And yeah the writing errors stand out a lot more the more you think about it. Like how Fury (and the show)'s whole point was that they can't rely on heroes to save them but then ends with a combination of hero powers saving the day and not giving Gravik any actual resolution with Fury. And as for the year itself, I'm actually inclined to believe 2025 because all depending on what happens in The Marvels, the Ms. Marvel ending HAS to be before that, which means it also HAS to be before Secret Invasion (I think?)
Also can't wait for the eventual Spider-Verse timeline placements lol
Thanks Andres. Yeah I tend to lean more towards 2025, but we’ll need The Marvels to confirm that one. The fact that Gravik is baring his heart to Fury and it’s not even Fury… 💀
2026 seems most likely - even though, that's a lot of characters rounding up - i suppose you'd be the odd one out to say "31 years ago."
my only concern is that The Marvels is likely to place itself AFTER Secret Invasion - but not long after Ms.Marvel. i could see it taking place just a few months later. perhaps early 2026 (or spring?)
i think this will shoehorn Secret Invasion back into "November 2025" which, yes, places it ahead of the holiday special. though, maybe the good folks of California are immune to the president's xenophobic warmongering when it comes to killing aliens.
I’m thinking that might happen as well. I guess we’ll see! I have no issues moving it back to 2025 if it comes down to it.
I didn't hate Secret Invasion as a show because there were some amazing performances, particularly from Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn and Olivia Coleman but the one thing that brought everything down for me was the decision to call it Secret Invasion in the first place.
A title is more important than people sometimes give it credit for as it sets the tone for what people expect going into a film, tv show, novel etc. and calling the show Secret Invasion suggested that we were going to far more reveals of main characters as Skrulls instead of two supporting characters in Everett Ross and War Machine, only one of whom is a superhero, instead what we got was an exploration of Fury's friendship with Talos and the Skrulls which while interesting was not what the show told us it would be. Had the show been titled Fury or even closer Secret Warriors, it wouldn't have this problem
Yeah, the promise of this show wasn’t delivered on, ultimately.
I loved Secret Invasion. I mean I was sad when Hill died, but that contributed to the story. I think the show does for the Kang/Secret Wars/Multiverse saga what Winter Soldier did for the Infinity Saga: turn the world upside down. I like it.
By the way, we could also ask how long ago Ross was replaced. Was he a skrull in either of the Black Panther movies?
I realize the show runner(s)/directors/writers have the authoritative voice on this question, but my assumption has been that both were replaced in the few years since the Battle for Earth (Endgame). Absent an authoritative answer (and show runners/directors have been mistaken in the past, see Spiderman:Homecoming), an equally plausible argument can be made both ways. On the one hand, they were replaced once Gravik fell out with Fury, which was after his team collected "The Harvest". On the other hand, it could be argued that Gravik had already grown tired enough of waiting that he was hedging his bets prior to the Battle for Earth.
This is good rationale. Thanks for sharing. It’s true, they may not have been taken over until well after Endgame. Hmm
YESSSSS! I’ve been waiting for this video!
Enjoy!!
I Loved Secret Invasion and the finale was Awesome!
2 super Scrulls fighting each other was epic!
That was very cool, can’t lie
I lean towards 2025 right now simply as a practical matter. There are no MCU titles in the first half of 2026 unless you place Guardians 3 there, and it would be strange to get so many titles throughout all of 2024 and 2025 and then skip half of 2026 and proceed from there (since The Marvels is apparently going to take place after Secret Incasion).
For that matter, if we place Secret Invasion in November 2025 then it means just a few months separate Ms. Marvel from its finale post-credits scene as opposed to us having to cram over a year between Ms. Marvel's finale and post-credits scene.
I absolutely believe the show could easily fit in 2026 (and that does help minimize the issues with Ritson's speech vis a vis Guardians 3 and Holiday Special), but placing it there feels to me like poor continuity management by forcing such large gaps into the MCU timeline. But ultimately I agree that The Marvels or other future titles (a Ms. Marvel S2?) will have to be the final call for the show's placement. Maybe we'll get more early 2026 events in the MCU timeline in the future. Maybe Kamala's senior year was completely uneventful and thus fine to be skipped narratively. Maybe the Ten Rings are still sending out that beacon and have been since 2024, and it's not weird that the beacon remains unanswered over 2 years later. We'll just have to wait and see.
I’m in agreement, if only because it could fit nicely between Ms Marvel and The Marvels. Guess we shall see!
I wish they didn't switch genres midway through it. It could have been awesome if they'd just struck with the spy thriller genre.
Yeah it feels like they didn’t have faith in it at the end.
Dope video!
Dope comment!
Agree with the 2026 placement.
Just out of curiosity: when the timeline book comes out, will you adapt your timeline to it (even if it just follows the Disney+ timeline and its clear mistakes) or just stick with your own?
If it makes sense, I have no issues changing my timeline to match some or all of it.
@@Geekritique i'm willing to bet they will stick to their guns with solid explanations where they exist - and completely ignore any contradictory facts rather than struggle to justify them.
There was a discussion on the Marvel Fandom Wiki about how presidential terms work in the MCU, as we've had fictional US Presidents as characters and references to Obama and Trump. As I recall, the idea that the MCU has two-year Presidential terms seemed to account for both the IRL and fictional presidents fitting into the timeline, but I'm not sure how Ritson would then fit into it and what years his term should be.
The presidents are confusing as all hell. Just not enough information at the moment.
Great video Dakota!
Thank you my friend!
Secret Invasion feels like the first show where I could really wait to watch. I don't think I started watching episode 1 until episode 4 was out. As far as a year, I'm unsure but I'm leaning to 2026.
I watched the first three as they aired, but then only caught the rest once episode 6 was out.
@@Geekritique Exactly! I think that people just weren't talking about the show so I never felt like I needed to avoid spoilers, but I also feel like there's too much good stuff to watch and Secret Invasion wasn't a high priority on my list.
Sadly there was nothing to spoil 🤣
I don't trust the Disney+ timeline. There are regional differences and they just seemingly tack on all the newer titles at the end of the timeline.
I am in favour of keeping this in 2025 because of how it will tie in with Ms. Marvel. Ms. Marvel takes place in September 2025 but if we move Secret Invasion up to 2026, then you have to Ms. Marvel up to 2026. This would mean that The Marvels would have to take place in September 2025 or September 2026 before Secret Invasion or it will take place after Secret Invasion in November 2025 or 2026 which in turn would retcon Ms. Marvel's placement a year later.
This logic only works if we conclude no time passes between Ms Marvel and The Marvels. It could be a case of Ragnarok and Infinity War, where the post-credits scene takes place much later than the bulk of the film. But again, we have to wait and see.
Well Nia Dacosta did just state Kamala is 16 in The Marvels, and given Iman did film the movie right after Ms. Marvel, it does lend gravity to the idea that very little time, if any, passes between the marvelous projects. @@Geekritique
I saw that interview! Very, very intriguing stuff. We could be looking at an immediate retcon, and one I’m totally okay with!
One hint to support 2025
We know Secret invasion is before the marvels and from the trailers and credits we know when Ms. Marvel ends, The Marvels begin
Since the marvels is in fall 2025,secret invasion has to be in 2025,only problem is that doesn't fit with unity day
Do we know for sure that The Marvels is in Fall 2025?
@@Geekritique this is just me assuming because of credits of ms. Marvel when Carol appears which is the start of The Marvels, so both projects seem to be back to back in fall 2025
But we only be sure when the movie comes out
I’m begging and praying that the Marvels gives us more info
It better!!
@@Geekritiqueok ok ok
I think this might throw things off the rails but President Ritson being called a term president really complicates this for me.
President Ellis was a 2 term president from 2012-2020
Does that mean Ritson is president from 2020-2024?
@that-1-boi That would mean he’s president from 2025 to 2028.
@@Geekritique
so president Ellis was in office for 2012-2020
Unknown president was in from 2020-2024
And Ritson is in office from 2024- 2028
@that-1-boi as far as we’re aware, yes.
I probably liked the show more than most, but I can't lie and say I wasn't disappointed by the commentary, specifically regarding Gravik and army. The show was constantly leading the horse with a carrot there, but it felt like the driver wasn't paying attention and gave the carrot to the horse without leading the horse anywhere. I didn't feel like the commentary we got was bad, per se, I just don't think we really got any commentary at all. The surface level stuff was there, but they didn't explore it.
Though given the incredible amount of runtime cut from the show, I think I know where most of it went. Whatever the reason, I hope they include deleted scenes somewhere, either as extras on Disney+, or as special features on the eventual Bluray release. Actually, I kinda hope we get to see every deleted scene from every show. So far Hawkeye is the only one of the shows that has placed its deleted scenes on Disney+, and I'm frankly confused why the same hasn't been done for the other shows. At the very least we can see how certain plotlines were supposed to go, and at the very most we can get fan edited versions of the shows with the deleted scenes included if they feel vital or if they greatly improve an episode or show.
Awesome video amigo! I always assumed that it took place around 2026 especially when Marvel confirmed that it is the “Present day” and GOTG vol 3 also taking place in 2026 as well. When it comes to my thoughts on the show, I’m not gonna lie it was disappointing, and it definitely should’ve been an Avengers film (after multiple set ups), also the show feels rushed. That said it has its moments like the performances and a few good episodes here and there but that’s about it tbh. Still though can’t wait for your Ant-Man 3 Timeline video (take your time with it) 🙌🏾
It definitely felt like it should’ve been an Avengers level movie. Just feels like a wasted concept now. 🤷🏻♂️ You’re right about the current present day is in 2026 though.
@@Geekritique Completely agree man
Great video dakota, but i got a question, since spider-verse is mcu canon since andrew appears, ms chen from sonyverse and the mcu is mentioned, are you going to include those movies? if not ,will you add them if holland makes a cameo in the third movie.
I’m adding these films to the multiverse timeline, yes.
I believe Secret Invasion is set in 2025 because of the presidential terms. In real life Obama was elected in 2009 and had 2 terms but in the MCU Obama must have only served one term and was succeeded by President Ellis who was first seen in Iron Man 3. President Ellis’s first term would have lasted 2009-2017 and presidential terms are 4 years meaning if Ellis wasn’t reelected the next president's term would have lasted from 2017-2021. I believe Ruston was elected in 2021, plus he was referenced in Wakanda Forever signing a treaty with New Asgard and Fury said that Ritsons actions were one term prettier than stuff. Meaning in 2025 he was serving his last year in office which is perfect setting up Thunderbolt Ross to be the next president. I’m just giving you my input on when I think Secret Invasion takes place.
This is logical for the most part, but you have Ellis as President for 3 terms on your thing.
@@Geekritique Your right Ellis could only serve 2 terms as the 45th President and the 46th President who is unknown would have served one term leaving Ritson as the 47th President if my math is right.
I can't wait for the video about "DCU/Arrowverse" timeline .
I can wait
So a few points why I am certain this is 2025:
1. I very much doubt the Ms. Marvel post-credits scene is 1 whole year after the series. It just feels implausible to me.
2. If SI is set in November 2026, Cap 4 takes place in 2027 or later and considering Marvel Studios very consciously decided to set so many projects in 2024 and 2025, probably in order to quickly catch up the MCU's present day to our own, I doubt he will have like 4 projects jn 2026 and then immediately move yo 2027 while our world is back in 2024.
Having the show in November 2025 and Cap 4 in 2026 will reduce the gap between MCU time and real time to only 2 years and with the ongoing strikes causing delays, I think Secret Wars has a real chance of coming out on the year it actually takes place in.
One could argue that while Cap 4 will be set in 2027, other titles releasing afterwards might be set in 2026, but considering how much of an huge movie (plot importance wise) it seems it will be, I doubt they will set future titles before it.
Ant-Man post-credits is a whole year after the movie, Doctor Strange post-credits scene too, same with Guardians Vol.2, why couldn’t Ms. Marvel?
Excellent rationale. The only thing I might suggest that I disagree with is that Marvel Studios is trying to catch up with the present day. Covid caused a bunch of projects to be pushed back, many of which were set to arrive earlier than what we received. So that idea that the we are catching up is mostly due to the projects being released too late.
Ultimately, we’ll have to wait until Marvel clarifies the placement of the post credits scene.
@@Geekritique yeah, I feel like we might get our answer in The Marvels. If Kamala says something like: I've only been a super-hero for a couple of months or something similar, then we have our answer.
Hi, any update on your next MCU timeline???
will u include Fox Xmen and other MCU movie like Daredevil and Elektra
I don’t think I will be including them in v8, but possibly v9 if we find out how they’re connected to the MCU.
@@Geekritique nice, looking good 👌🏻
So Peter Park graduates Highschool in May 2025 and Kamala Khan graduates Highschool in May 2026. Riri Williams is in college during Ironheart as far as we know.
Yeah, Riri is in college during WF
Well, acording to the Marvels trailer it picks up right after Ms. Marvel so Secret Invasion is before Ms Marvel
Well that would make sense, but as of yet, we don’t know how much time passes between the main events in Ms. Marvel and the post credits scene that leads into The Marvels. Impossible to say other than it looks like the scene takes place soon afterward.
This show was very very far from perfect. I absolutely hate the Rhodey twist if its true because it erases a critical part of a key story point in Tony’s death. And if its true they dont reference it at all. Overall i think 2026 is narratively the best place as that part of 2025 would be extremely muddy with titles. Great vid as always man!
Thank you, Jay! And agreed. Not the worst, but far from great.
I think secret invasion it was OK They definitely could’ve done a lot more with it they-really need to stop doing the six episode format and they need to add more I feel like that was one of the only problem. I really would dare at least one of them but I think where it is on the timeline for me I have a MCU timeline format on my notebook app that goes from 1942 to 2026 and I put it to January to March 2026 before guardians of the Galaxy, volume three
It definitely was weakened by the 6-episode format.
In my opinion, 6 episodes ain't that bad when *they all are +50 minutes* long. :|
I liked secret invasion as a whole, but the ending was a bit weak because the villains character motivation changes from caring about his people to a purely selfish one. I think it happens in 2026.
Dakota I have a question, what is the first? Love and Thunder ? or Moon Knight?
I place Moon Knight before Love and Thunder.
what troubles me is that, Secret Invasion has to occur before Ms Marvel because Ms Marvel ties in directly with The Marvels where Fury is already back in space after the events of Secret Invasion... right?
It doesn’t need to occur before Ms. Marvel, just before the end credits scene.
@@Geekritique maybe I read things wrong online lol, I really thought I read somewhere that The Marvels occurs after Secret Invasion and that Ms Marvel occurs a par to SI or after… let’s wait and see! Really like your videos dude
Thanks Eric. I’ve heard that too, about the Marvels. Basically, the reigning theory is that Ms. Marvel comes first, then Secret Invasion, and then that scene at the end of Ms. Marvel which leads into The Marvels. We just don’t know how much time passes between Ms. Marvel’s primary time period and the end credits scene.
When the few years have been mentioned I think he showed up at starks funeral then left so I’m in favour off 2026 you working on quotmanina ?
I’ll explain my new Quantumania placement soon!
@@Geekritique no worries yeah I think fury left earth after Starks funeral
I think that it is definitely 2026 because that is where Disney + places it and where I believe the timeline book will place it. I can’t see the timeline book and the Disney+ timeline being different, it would just admit the disparity between Disney+ and Kevin Fiege. This means that the Disney+ timeline is right.
Btw have you seen the awesome detail that places Guardians 3 in august 2026. On the newspaper, there is a sign saying that a festival will go on. Now there is a festival in that area that occurs in august every year. I saw it in a video from A Bit of Everything.
I will reserve judgment on the D+ timeline until the book comes out. As it stands, it cannot all be accurate with the internal logic within its many titles, but we’ll see.
I spoke to a A bit of everything about the festival, but I don’t consider it conclusive by any means. If that was meant to be an indicator of time, they’d have named the festival. For comparison, that same newspaper details a local dog show. The only local dog show in the area is early in the year, in the Winter. It doesn’t add up for me.
Are you sure that the dog show isn’t just a joke to do with James Gunn’s Dog. It had Gunn’s dog on so I think it is just a gag. I think that we need more information on its placement before we can just place it in August 2026 or anywhere else.
Of course, but that gag should be taken just as seriously as the unnamed festival. 🤷🏻♂️
I think that we will need to continue looking for details in places other than this newspaper that is designed as a gag and has conflicting pieces of evidence
Good job! I will try to contribute with something.
But first I apologize for my English, I don't speak English as well as I should.
What if we consider placing all of Phase 4 between 2013 and 2014?
Wandavisión just after Endgame and maybe Eternals before the end of this year. Hawkeye's Christmas, Spider-Man's finale, and GoG's Christmas special on the same date. She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel would take place in the same year, in 2024. Etc...
The "few years" Nick Fury spent on SABER could be 2013 and 2014. It could make sense.
I think Marvel Studios' original plan was to set Secret Wars in 2025 (the same year they hoped to release it) and, for example, MoM's post-credits scene with Clea would connect directly to the event (or the Kang Dynasty).
What do you think of this possibility?
Interesting ideas, but the dates and time frames in the other titles don’t seem to match up neatly. Also, it might be too much happening in too short a time.
Thank you for your comment, your English is better than most.
@@Geekritique Thank you very much for reading and answering. You do a great research job. For my part I will try to continue building a timeline with this premise. Soon I will review Far From Home and No Way Home to see if I can put it in parallel with Ms. Marvel, I think it could work if the trip of Peter and his class was a Spring Break instead of a summer vacation.
08:08 uhm, Quantumania video spoilers I guess
🤫 🤫
So I'm glad to see you agree with my theory that Kamala has traveled in time in addition to space with her bracelets (as when she traveled to 1947 Pakistan) since you have Ms. Marvel as set in 2025, and Marvels is after Secret Invasion (which you have in 2026). Wow! That means that the scene from the Marvels trailer where Nick (and Monica Rambeau) show up at the Khan household is also set at least a year after Kamala disappeared in the Ms. Marvel post-credits scene!!! Good luck in making sense with all of this! LOL
I don’t subscribe to that theory actually, considering she came back to her present day. But that doesn’t rule out the possibility that the post credit scene takes place a year or more after the bulk of the show itself.
Please across the Spider-Verse and into the Spider-Verse
My next video will be on Quantumania, but after that? Spider-Verse.
I loved the show Secret Invasion.
Glad you liked it!
I enjoyed Secret Invasion until the finale. It was just... Not very well done. This is the first time I ever agree on an MCU Disney+ show having a "rushed finale". I hated it. The only think I liked was Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman, and Martin Freeman's cameo. However, in regards to story, writing and cinematography I hated it.
And now, I still think that it is November 2025. There are many reasons of why it fits in 2026, not that many reasons of why it fits in 2025, but for now it's just wishful thinking.
I guess I'm just *hoping* it's 2025 so it makes sense with a short timeframe with Ms. Marvel and The Marvels and it doesn't push the timeline that far away :(
I would be happy to update this to 2025 if The Marvels warrants it!
Will we ever have a timeline for The Walking Dead?
I don’t personally follow the series, but maybe some day.
So how long was "Rhodes" a skrull. Because his accident was in civil war you don't see him again until Infinity war? So does that mean he was a skrull since CW. And does that mean skrulls did not get affected by the blip?
No, Skrulls were affected by the blip as well.
A bit of everything made a video a while ago with some proof of Guardians Vol.3 taking place in August 2026. Do you agree?
It’s interesting, but not really. The “proof” is very circumstantial, it ignores weather, foliage, and other things featured on the newspaper.
Wait ehy did you also move quantumania in 2026?
You’ll find out soon.
I was one of the people who was really enjoying Secret Invasion until the last couple of episodes. Episode 5 even had some excellent stuff in it, but definitely felt rather rushed. I was willing to forgive that if they stuck the landing in episode 6, But They Did Not. What Secret Invasion had that I absolutely loved was several really well written and acted scenes in which two actors sit together and discuss their problems. I adore these kinds of scenes.
The video game-like finale was sickeningly counter to this and might be the worst episode of MCU material that Disney+ has yet produced. It was a huge disappointment to me, given how much I liked the first few episodes.
Like you, I loved that we got scenes from earlier in the timeline. I always look out for scenes like this because I have an imaginary version of the MCU that is edited together in roughly timeline order (allowing for flashbacks that would otherwise be spoilers to be used appropriately as flashbacks for better storytelling). I will always be thinking about how I would ideally do this edit if I had the time and money. In this case, having scenes that could be intercut after the first Captain Marvel movie and with the scenes from the beginning of the Black Widow film as well as one that would be mixed in with Item 47, Loki's sentencing from Dark World, and Adrian Toomes' cancelled clean up after the Battle of NY is really fun to me.
Thanks for your well articulated comment. I too liked the two actors in a room approach. I just never found the show surprising, especially for a show about spy craft and shapeshifting.
That’s amazing that you have an imaginary timeline in your head though 😂 love that.
I honestly really liked secret invasion and the implication it has for the whole series and what it sets up for both fantastic 4 and the next captain America movie. The only actual problem that i noticed is it felt short, but that isnt the shows fault, that is disney, like what happened with doctor strange 2. I dont even get why people hate it so bad, it is probably better then wandavision
It certainly was too short for the promise it gave us. Needed more fleshing out.
@@Geekritique at least the next few films seem like they might continue ideas set up in this movie.
I thought it was a decent show. I liked what I saw, but thought it left much to be desired. However, I am not fond of the implication that Rhodey was replaced after his spinal injury. And I hope the Armor Wars film retcons that.
Yeah that seems to be the consensus with the Rhodey reveal. Most people genuinely dislike that choice.
Good video, I don’t the mind the show but the last episode was kinda a let down. I would love for you make a timeline video for The Spider-Verse movies if that’s okay. God bless
I can’t wait to make a video on the Spider-Verse films!
Awesome! Thank you 😊
Will you do spider verse timeline because now we know that venom and MCU are connected with the spider verse
I will at some point.
7:35 I see what you did there.
_If_ Secret Invasion is set in 2026, then the statements that it takes place _before_ The Marvels are hopefully false, for one simple reason: Kamala.
The time jump to the credit scene of Ragnarok wasn't so big a deal because (a) it was only _half_ a year, (b) the Asgardians in space were isolated from everything _until_ Thanos found them, & (c) the characters involved were slow-aging Asgardians who'd show little difference in appearance over that timespan (d) played by middle-aged adults who'd ALSO show little difference in appearance over that sort of timespan.
A *full year* jump to the credit scene of Ms. Marvel does not track with Kamala Khan & Iman Vellani both still being human teenagers & not showing any signs of having aged, *and* it's a tremendous wasted opportunity to not see her interact with any of the myriad other characters on Earth for a full year as well.
So if there are no references to Secret Invasion in The Marvels, I'm gonna untether the two titles, & if there *are* references, I'm keeping Secret Invasion in 2025 unless evidence *in* The Marvels forces it to be 2026.
As for the quality of the show: It wasn't great, but until the awful finale, it was still redeemable. The twist that G'iah survived assassination by having already Super-Skrulled herself was good. The twist that G'iah now has literally every biological superpower to have been witnessed on Earth is dumb. The very _existence_ of the Harvest is exactly what She-Hulk warned them against doing, so that they did it anyway is insulting. The smarter play would've been for the vial to be poisoned & killed Gravik.
And as for Rhodey: It makes no sense for Gravik to have replaced him 2 years before he even started his plan (since we're directly told the campaign didn't begin until Fury was dusted), & it also makes no sense for a Skrull to continue faking a disability when its about to get him drowned & crushed under a collapsed building. I think the swap happened after Endgame, & Rhodey's in a hospital gown because he needed medical attention after having a the Avengers Compound dropped on him.
Wait… what did I do at 7:35??
@@Geekritique You said "the past few years" right after analyzing that exact phrase in the show. I thought it was intentional.
OH! It was actually, I totally forgot
hess back
Don’t call it a comeback, I been here for years
I think they rushed the show by having the final fight in the last episode. They should have left us wondering, like in Wanda Vision
Rhodey's been a skrull since Civil War???? Did they say that in the show? How did I miss that?
He’s wearing the same hospital gown he wears in Civil War after his accident, so… not confirmed, but definitely assumed.
@@Geekritique
So he was a Skrull during Infinity War and Endgame? I... kinda hate that. If they DID make a change that big, I feel like it should've at least had a big reveal in the show.
Damn, Rhodes was asleep during the blip. He doesn't even know Tony's dead. Dude's got a lot to learn...
I swear if Ross was a skrull during either Black Panther I'll flip.
There's just too much information to not place it in 2025 it just makes sense to me.
Perhaps you’re right!
9:05 the switch happened after FATWS not Civil War
Why do you say that? By that point Rhodey had been able to walk again, and in SI that Rhodey couldn’t.
@Geekritique Rhodey needed the leg brace until after FATWS. It's under his pants instead of above, like in Civil War through Endgame. You have Rhodey bleeding red in Endgame. Rava was always with Gravik, and he didn't turn on Fury and Earth until after the Battle of Earth and Harvest collection when Fury went and stayed on S.A.B.E.R until the start of Secret Invasion
That’s a fair point. If he’s bleeding red, that works.
i loved secret invasion for the first 4 episodes but the last 2 were a little underwhelming, i wasn’t a huge fan of the CGI fight, i feel like this should have been an avengers movie
Yeah it’s like the whole time Fury is saying this is his fight, not the Avengers, and then he just has G’iah take all the Avengers powers anyway to beat Gravik 🤷🏻♂️
@@Geekritique yeah, i noticed that, and i didn’t rlly like G’iah keeping those powers
I loved the show but needed more time with G'iah to connect with her
Yeah she was very… bland?
@@Geekritique yea, huge contrast to Olivia who I think had less screen time but did so much with it. Emilia had Short scenes only shines during action. I think she is a good actress and the director likes her subtle approach so I just think for that to translate she needed more scenes or maybe a better director.
Appreciate all the effort as per usual Dakota but I wish Thanos could have snapped this show out of existence!
Lol, well thank you! (This show needed a lot of work to live up to its promise and it just did not deliver.)
I, weirdly, pretty much enjoy all MCU offerings (including Marvel Studios shows). How I "rate" stuff is by my desire to rewatch things. Have not determined Secret Invasion's rewatchability yet.
Dakota, did you ever do the refiguring Eternals or did I miss it? Thanks
I have yet to do it, new stuff keeps pushing it back, but it’s on my to-do list.
so... Hawkeye Wakanda Forever She-Hulk Ms. Marvel Werewolf By Night Holiday Special Volume 3 Quantumania Secret Invasion Am I Right?
That’s my order, yeah.
@@Geekritique Thank you
the writing was shockingly dry and half-baked. i'm shocked that we're witnessing this from the MCU. regardless, thanks for always being so thorough with these timeline breakdowns.
Dude. I could not agree more. It felt like it was trying to go for that prestige you might find in an HBO show, but could never take itself seriously.
@@Geekritique Agreed and the episode durations are such a let down. an episode was basically 30 minutes, or half of a REAL episode of television - makes sense why the show felt incomplete
I was so let down by secret Invasion. The premise for the show has such a great Vincent I was ready for like a who's who paranoid spy thriller. And what we got was so bland in comparison. The skrulls barely changed into multiple forms beyond Giah and Gravik, some of then stayed as their human bodies for a majority of the runtime even. Normally I would assume it was to save budget, but found out recently this show spent way too much money to justify that. So idk what happened.
I was probably the most excited for this property of anything MCU since No Way Home. Because of my expecting and hype this is probably the biggest letdown from them I've had in a long while.
As for timeline. I think we will need to wait for the Marvels to definitively say. But I would lean more towards 2026. By the way people refer to Fury's absence since the blip it feels like in conversational English they're referring to more than 2 years.
Jereboy, I completely agree, and I was looking forward to this too. A huge letdown.
I truly believe this show was so bad because it got changed and reshot so many times
Very very possible.
2025
Could be 🤷🏻♂️
Secret was amazing till ep 3 but it went marvelised after that when they showed gaya revived from the extremist then at that moment the show was over for me
I knew then and there that it was gonna be super mid
November 2025 lol is more than clear
It all depends on The Marvels placement. If that’s early 2026 or late 2025, I’ll move Secret Invasion back.
Ik people aren't the biggest fan of this series but most of the criticism ive seen is because it wasnt like the comic, but i dont mind i liked the smaller scale story and it reminded me of winter soldier my favorite mcu movie, i mean i dont think secret invasion was perfect but imo its a little over hated if you ignore the comics the show is perfectly fine not perfext but good i enjoyed everything but the final cgi fight and the dumb standoff with Skrull rhodey and ritson
Super Skrulls? More like Super mid. Haha jk, yeah, the show was definitely… anticlimactic
@@Geekritique other than loki I haven't thought the ending of any of the shows was great it sucks that i was having a great time with the build up just for the ending to be Fury and Rhodey going "no HES the bad guy" sucks
Totally agree bro.
I didn't care that it wasn't like the comic; the only Secret Invasion comic I ever read was the Runaways/Young Avengers tie-in, & I knew that couldn't happen anyway since MCU Xavin isn't a Skrull & Hulkling hasn't even been introduced yet.
I dont think the show is as bad as everyone says it is. But i will admit that the finale was way too short and rushed
Yeah, it was such a strange anticlimactic ending.
Secret Invasions was such a huge disappointment for me, it was one of my most anticipated movies/shows since it was first announced however many years ago from the concept alone. So much wasted potential.
There wasn’t much “secret” about it I’m afraid. Just a let down.
I was really into the series up until the finale. They really messed that up. Now just because of the finale, its my least liked MCU series
Sometimes when shows don’t stick the landing, it all falls apart.
Oh, dude, I love secret scroll invasion. I love the show my brother doesn't even want to watch It with me. But he should, because it's gonna lead into Captain America, the brave new world😅❤
Glad you liked it!
Well, I consider it taking place. Maybe 2026 but maybe 2025 still.🤔🥰🐺😊❤
Lol. Nice.
