Cassie Lang's Impossible Age Changes EVERYTHING - MCU Timeline Breakdown

- Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is a difficult film to place on the timeline, and we originally placed it in 2025. But new evidence, or rather, a reevaluation of the evidence, leads us to conclude that we may need to move the film to 2026 on our MCU Timeline.

What if Cassie turned 7 in Ant-Man 1, so when she does quick maths in the car in Quantumania she thinks she would be 6 in 2015 since her birthday is at the end of the year.
Turns 8 in 2016, turns 9 in 2017 and 10 in 2018 (but at the end of the year, so Scott is kind of right about her being ten, she’s almost ten). Turns 18 in 2026 at the end of the year. Idk why she would be thrown in jail with adults at 17, but the writing is messy in Quantumania anyway so.
That was something I mulled over, but considering her birthday was thing highlighted when she’s first introduced, it seemed like 6 was important to that film. Obviously it doesn’t really work.
@@Geekritique Considering that Iron Man has shifted from 2008 to 2009 then 2010 and eventually back to 2008 over the course of the Infinity Saga, I think the shifting age of Cassie is just another one of those things. However, when I first saw the film, the jail scene was what sold me on her being 18 regardless of the previous films, so that makes the most sense to place the film and the others are just victims of circumstance now.
@@Fuzzyfoot88 unless they started throwing minors in cells after the sokovia accords and the blip got everyone paranoid...
@@patrickparadis8623 There's also the fact that she has her own Ant-Girl suit so maybe they decided "screw it, she's as dangerous as any adult" and threw her with the adults.
Age: embiggened.
Basically 😂
Maybe in the MCU you're legally of age at 16...
Hopefully the upcoming book will help fix issues like this
We’ll see.
Hopefully it's not a mess
HA!
4:40 "We need to go back in time." Of course! That ALWAYS works :)
Haha! Thanks for watching man
I was thinking Cassie’s birthday was in July when Ant-Man started. Also, any thoughts on when Janet’s Quantumania flashbacks occur, or will that be in your later Kang video?
I chose to keep this video on the shorter side or I never would’ve been able to finish it. It’ll have to be in my Kang video eventually. As for Cassie’s birthday, yeah I originally thought July, but this film doesn’t lend to that possibility very well.
I think July works perfectly fine. With a July birthday (so born in July 2008), Cassie can end up turning 7 in Ant-Man (only being a couple weeks off when she says she was 6 later in life), going on 10 in Ant-Man and the Wasp (9, but quite close to 10), 15 in Endgame (the film's script states she is 14, so only a few months off), and recently turned 18 in Quantumania. In the epilogue of Quantumania, the cuts on Scott's forehead indicates it's been a few weeks since the climax, meaning it's now around mid-August 2026. This places a decent amount of time between Cassie's real birthday and the make-up birthday Scott throws for missing previous ones. In fact, it's amount the same amount of time even with a late September birthday.
- Epilogue is a month after Cassie's birthday if she were born in mid-late July
- Epilogue is a month before Cassie's birthday if she were born in late September
So we now have another issue: do we agree that two films are incorrect as to her age, or just one? By placing several months post-July, which isn’t devoid of reasoning (see Ant-Man), we avoid making multiple titles imply incorrect ages, in favor of just the 6 years old line.
Since time passage in the quantum realm is inconsistent; it's only possible to track it by direct comparison to outside events. We know the main action of Quantumania was only a day because of the San Francisco scenes. We can't know when Kang was exiled, though, unless we see it happen from the outside.
@@Geekritique Glad to hear you'll cover those flashbacks at some point. They are really confusing as Kang enters the QR prior to 2023's time heist (since it has to be before 2018), which seems to mean he was sent there by the original kang council, yet the new kang council seems to remember sending him there. Ugh.
As for Cassie's birthday, I guess I can't see how her birthday could have been more than perhaps a week or two after Scott leaves jail in mid-July. The WHIH Newsfront newscasts from July say that the unveiling for Darren Cross' new breakthru are in a few weeks, and that's basically the end of the movie. So I think her b-day has to be prior to that, and thus in July.
But I agree, it's all a big mess. Peyton really hosed this one up, contradicting his own movie. Sigh.
Awesome video man! The MCU really need to keep track on character's ages especially if they're super young, they're doing a pretty good job tracking Peter Parker's age through the films but Cassie? Yeah.... not so much. I kinda always assumed it took place in 2025 but given how Cassie's age and even the Kangs post credit scene, it has a reasonable place in early 2026.
Yeah 🤷🏻♂️ maybe 2026 works. Guess we’ll see how other titles affect it in the future.
So do you think we should throw out the Wakanda Forever easter egg? Or do you think Scott started a book tour in 2025, stopped and started a podcast series and vacationed in Europe with Wasp (mentioned in Ms. Marvel in late 2025), and then picked up his book tour again almost a year later in 2026?
It may not even be a book tour that we see in Quantumania. All we see is him doing a book reading at a local bookstore. Could be a separate thing.
@@Geekritique Ah, fair enough!
Can't wait for your Blue Beetle DCU timeline placement, keep up the good work!
Thanks Theory!
Could Cassie have possibly spent some time in the Quantum Realm before Quantumania? That would likely affect her actual age. In fact, doesn't it definitely affect her actual age after July 24, 2026? (This also brings up a good point about Janet's age. We know she disappeared in 1987, and spent about thirty years there, according to her own account. Was this the exact amount of time that elapsed in the MCU? Yes, I know, it varies by the needs of the plot LOL)
There’s no evidence that Cassie spent any time in the QR before Quantumania, so I don’t think we can use that as evidence. But 🤷🏻♂️
Another great video from Dakota!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Another great video as always! Any plans to do a Star Wars timeline watch order?
I’d love to do one! Stay tuned.
I’m going to need more wall space at this rate. Keep up the good work, and I’m looking forward to not only adding this to the timeline I’ve got on my wall, but also version 8.0, but take your time on 8.0
Loki season 2 should be an easy placement given the post credit scene of Quantumania leads right into season 2 but I could be wrong time will tell.
Loki will always be a weird placement because the TVA exists outside the parameters of time and space. I don't believe the post credit scene was trying to say Loki S2 takes place in July 2026. It was simply a teaser to get the audience excited.
I don’t think that’s super clear though, cause like. It’s just a tease for another project, with different characters. Could be before or after Quantumania.
@@Geekritiquewell you placed Loki s 1 right after endgame because you were using lokis perspective which he jumped out of endgame, and if your still using lokis perspective, then it seems season 2 would be right after.
Not every credit scene is timeline adjacent
When are you going to come out with the video of your Eternals timeline placement?
Great video, and actually there's some empirical evidence of people rounding down their own ages to describe anecdotes from when they were younger. My mom always says I was one or two years younger than I actually was when recalling a specific event, and sometimes I do it too, so it's not like it doesn't happen in real life.
And I can't wait for you to get your hands on the MCU Timeline book that just released. I saw a pic of a page and spoiler: they correctly place Multiverse of Madness in Fall 2024.
Thanks bro. I have the book and am going through it now. Can’t wait to dive in and review it.
Yes I’ve been waiting for this one
At last. It’s here.
Followup question: Is there going to be a video about the shift on GotG 3?
THIS is CANON EVENT☝️
It absolutely is lol
I was meaning to ask you after the secret invasion video
After Wakanda forever, they save Ross and take him to Wakanda for shelter. If secret invasion takes place after, how did they get Ross?
Maybe that was the wrong Ross. OR that was actually Skrulls and they swapped him out then and there.
@@Geekritique ooooooo
So could secret invasion take place near wakanda forever?
I don’t think so, it most likely takes place some time after
@@Geekritique that’s even scarier
It means there’s a skrull inside wakanda doing anything
they took him for shelter - then a year went by before secret invasion took place...
Hello. You said the next video would be about Spider-Verse. And when will your video be published on CZcams?
It still needs a lot of work, so I’d say next week at the earliest.
I was wondering, seeing as how you keep track of the mcu timeline & all, what was your reaction back when endgame had come out & the "5 years later" appeared on screen? I would think that'd be a big surprise, since before that, the mcu timeline mostly consisted of films being set the same year the film came out. so that must've been a big change up.
I was actually in Iceland on vacation at the time. Saw it and I audibly gasped in the theater. Everyone looked at me like I was crazy haha 😂
I need to tell you that time works differently in the Quantum Realm so they could've been in the QR for a year
They claim it’s been a day, but you’re right. That said, there’s no indication it was more than a day in the real world.
@@Geekritique And, The Shop Owner that let Scott get a coffee for free at the start, asks him to pay at the end of the movie
@HeroEdits01 Yep 👍
This is tough, because Cassie clearly looks like a 6 year old in ant man 1, but to be logically in line with the jail scene in ant man 3, i agree that 2026 is the only choice. This kind of sucks though because narratively it feels better if it's around the time of black panther 2.
Coming back here with a thought. I have had fast food jobs, and on at least one of them, they found a way to get me into the system and put me to work before all of my paperwork was officially filed. Basically a day or two after I told them I wanted the job I was working there. Is it possible that Scott got out of prison on July 17th, got hired at Baskin-Robbins on July 18th, got fired on July 19 when his background check came through, and Cassie's birthday was around July 20th? If she was born in 2008, then she could have just turned 7 years old in the first Ant-Man movie and could have turned 18 just-in-time for Quantumania in 2026?
Baskin Robbins was a last ditch effort. It was the only place that accepted him. Which means he had been looking for work for a long time.
So will 8.0 cover Loki Season 2 I could also expect 9.0 next year to for sure covered Deadpool and all the movies that connect to that also, weird you haven’t placed Spider-Verse on the MCU timeline despite the second movie making references to the MC also, when the MCU timeline book comes out, which will include secret invasion, will you do an update to the timeline video and cover that again with the new information and where the timeline book says it’s taking place also Armour Wars will connect to it and if they reference Secret Invasion and say it been this amount of times, sense Secret invasion happened, and if they give an estimate time to when that took place and an Armour Wars if they mention when that’s taking place then well that works out
I’m waiting for the timeline book before my next big update. As for Spider-Verse, my next video is going to be about that.
When are you going to do when gotg 3 take place
Hi Dakota, good afeternoon, I have a doubt, why disney doesn't take advantage of this Disney+ idea of having a catalog showing the Chronological Order, and expands to other franchises in which there are also doubts about their Chronological Order, such as the X-Men Saga?
Would it be possible to move the date of ant man 1 back a couple years to make everything make sense? Or is there concrete evidence putting it in 2015?
They reference the events in Sokovia that occurred just a few months earlier.
@@Geekritique ah so it really is just a mess, oh well at least it's not Homecoming lmao
Yeah, it’s not nearly that bad
Ok, you've convinced me.
The movie wasn't very good, but it was better than the hype. I think one more pass revising the dialogue would've fixed a LOT of the story problems, & more time to work out the lighting in the Volume would've fixed _almost all_ of the visual problems.
I herd you changing your mind in love and thunder for 2025 ? Is there going to be a video on that ?
I did not change my mind about Love and Thunder. I mentioned there’s some proof that leans in favor of 2025. But the majority still fits in 2024.
@@Geekritique ahh okay my bad you have a great day
You too!
Considering Cassie’s age has just never made sense (like in AntMan 2) wouldn’t the book crossover with Wakanda Forever still be the bigger piece of evidence, keeping it in 2025?
Well I thought that initially, but the fact that Cassie is coming into her own character and getting into actual trouble with the law seems to be more important to the plot.
Hey your website ain’t working.
Will you do spider verse timeline
I have begun working on a Spider-Verse timeline, so yes. Soonish
according to like those old news shorts in reference to the first Ant-Man, her birthday is in August, right?? idk, not super familiar - I know you'd be more so
All we know is Scott was released from prison in July, some time passes, and then he visits her birthday.
Have you seen the new timeline marvel posted? Everything always did a video about it?
Yup!
Yeah.... all you can do is the best you can do with this stuff. Maybe Disney SHOULD hire you to keep their interconnected universes straight...
Makes sense to me
Thanks for watching!
This was a stupid film but it is very entertaintaining when you're in the right mood to watch it. You get exactly what you paid for, the people who expected a serious MCU story from a film called Quantumania should have read the title more carefully and I honestly think it fits better tonally with the other two films in the Ant-Man trilogy than if it was a serious film.
This film's biggest mistake was using Kang the Conqueror as its main villain as he is an Avengers villain and therefore when he is inevitably defeated by Ant-Man and Wasp on their own it looks like they nerfed Kang and he is now a less threatening villain. If they made M.O.D.O.K. the only villain this criticism wouldn't have been as much of a problem
Actually, you kinda nail it here. MODOK wouldve made for a far better main villain. Oh well.
But they literally _did_ nerf Kang in this film. That was a major driving factor in the plot, that this version of Kang was _weaker_ than the others without his time tech.
@@CaptHayfever He was weaker in comparison to his other variants because they exiled him to the Quantum Realm in the first place. He was only weaker during the flashbacks with Janet, during the events of the Kang was still more than a threat to Ant-Family and Janet was terrified of him and for good reason, that is not being nerfed that is set up for the plot. The reason why Kang can be defeated by giant ants is because he had to be written in the style of an Ant-Man villain rather than an Avengers villain
So Cassie suffers from SORAS (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome) despite the MCU not being a Soap Opera.
Lol, I didn’t even realize that’s a real thing. Amazing.
@Geekritique Neighbours is a repeat offender particularly but other Soaps have done it. Usually when bringing back an old child character as an adult with a different actor later so long time audiences can be like 'Oh I remember him/her/them"
Ahh that’s amazing. I wonder what the worst offender is haha
Seems like R Kelly managed her timeline
How to watch Phase 4/5 (From my point of view) :
Part 1 The Post-EndGame.
WandaVision
Eternals
Shang Chi
The Falcon & The Winter Soldier
Thor 4
Moon knight
Part 2 The Multiverse
Loki 1
What if 1
Ant-Man 3
Loki 2
What if 2
Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 3
Doctor Strange 2
Part 3 The M She U
Hawkeye
Black Panther 2
She-Hulk
Ms. Marvel
Secret Invasion
The MarvelS
Echo
I would change Falcon & The Winter Soldier to be after Moon Knight
Ant Man 3 after Dr Strange 2
@@HeroEdits01 Ok, but why F&WS after Moonknight 🤔 ?
@@TheMerchan Falcon & The Winter states it's been 6 months after Endgame. So that means it starts in April and its stated it finishes in June.
Moon Knight takes place in April-May & Thor L&T also takes place around the same time.
I really feel like the continuity of Marvel has fallen off the rails. I am really concerned that when their timeline book comes it is going to contradict so many of the details that you and others have been so careful to discover. I really enjoy all the work that you go through to make it all fit, though. Keep up the great work. PS it's jail, not prison
Hello. I want to watch Marvel but I don't know where ITSV and ATSV are chronologically. Both of these Spider-Man movies have a tie to the MCU. Please put them in watch order too
My next video will go into this.
Thank you 😘🔥
Jesus, what a mess, marvel needs to keep track of their characters age
Yeah it’s all over the place, occasionally.
Dude she identifies as Korean, so when she was born she was age 1. After every new year her birth increases by 1. Duhhh
You’ve nailed it.
When making your next major MCU Timeline video, I think you should include Marvel Television’s series into the main timeline, they will always be canon. Also, the MCU is Earth-199999.
Kevin probably working with his team on destroying the timeline and earth so they can jump into earth 616 with a proper timeline
If they need some help, I’m always available 👀
I appreciate those who pay attention to continuity but the age of a little girl growing up a few years faster is hardly relevant when the main story is humans and other creatures fighting each other in a Who-ville setting. Plus, there's also the possibility that Cassie befriended Wanda's kids in some alternate universe Avengers Christmas Party and they taught her how to age up a few years. Duh! Furthermore, there are all kinds of problems with Iron Man's timeline as, apparently, Tony was drinking beers for months with the Hulk while his daughter was an infant leaving Pepper by herself. Although the level of stupidity of the She-Hulk final episode should make that entire series null and void.
Well she ain’t that little anymore.
I agree with your video I was 15 during the events of Ant-Man 2015 In in 2018 antmon and the wasp came out. I was 18 years old 5 years later, I am 20 years old In 2023😊❤ 2026 I might be 21 or 25 or 24 or 23 by that time So I will Say ant men and the wasp Quantumania deserves to be in the year 2026🤔🥰❤
Dude, I agree with your video just some parts of it I don't agree with And by the way, I have an idea for your next time. Line video and it's about Call for duty cannon Timeline that will be an interesting video Not about MCU🤔🥰🐺 I mean, you never really touched on games. Before universe, you should do that😊
Thanks for the tip
