    If you consider T'Challa's death to be on April 29, there's some similarity with Chadwick's real-life important dates: T'Challa died on a Monday 29 (April 2024), whereas Chadwick was born on a Monday 29 (November 1976). This happens because those months are identical on the calendar, which adds more weight to the deleted scene's date and the few days Shuri and Riri were prisoners of Namor.

    I'd just view their seeming anger at all sides in _Falcon & Winter Soldier_ as their grief or lack of doing so, while still trying to show the world they are doing their jobs, and the rest of the world may not yet know of T'Challa's death.

    9:35 It makes sense that they cut this scene; the audience needs to oppose Val, but this scene is the only time in the film that Everett _actually does_ what Val accuses him of later on. We need Val to be wrong; the scene had to go.

    Great vid Dakota!
    I watched that deleted scene a couple of times after that guy in the comments of the Quantumania video said there's a date in it and didn't notice it. Great attention to detail by the script supervisor and so glad someone caught it! I don't think it's fair to give too much weight to the script though considering how much it changed during filming and also the fact that Coogler probably wrote in some estimations just to give the cast some idea about the time passage. It's obvious that the dates he uses are estimations considering he even contradicts himself with Riri's age.
    As for Nakia, this is how I see it:
    She gets pregnant in Spring 2018 when IW takes place, a couple months later, she finds out (let's say around July 2018) and when her pregnancy starts becoming obvious by ~4-5 months (around Fall 2018) she leaves Wakanda. That's relatively shortly after Thanos' attack, since people would still be in mourning by then and the world would probably be in chaos and it's also ~6.5 years before Wakanda Forever, so it can easily be rounded down to 6.
    Then, for the actual date of T'Challa's death, I believe it's late April and Shuri spends ~5 days in Talokan. I know it doesn't seem like it, but there's a lot of stuff that happens off-screen that we don't see that support this. It would take half a day for Okoye to go back to Wakanda and inform Ramonda about Shuri, then some thinking and strategizing by Ramonda, then another half day for Ramonda to go to Haiti to talk to Nakia, then some preperation by Nakia and then a lot of travelling around and asking around until she eventually finds a person who can tell her about Talokan. It's perfectly reasonable to say it was 5 days for all that to have occured.

      @Geekritique  Před rokem +3

    Once again brother, another banger! A lot of the projects in Phase 4 (and maybe Phase 5) requires a lot of guesstimates when trying to pinpoint the dates and year of each projects especially compared to Phase 1 - 3, but I genuinely think you made a great effort trying to pinpoint Wakanda Forever and I think May 2025 is accurate, even if I personally think T'Challa died on April 29th as I think it makes the most sense with the "Tuesday" line from Shuri plus Chadwick being born on the 29th (November), it also great to know that Namor's backstory matches up with the real world timeline. Hopefully now that Marvel Studios are slowing the amount of movies and films they are putting out, it will allow them to more accurately pinpoint when each project takes place and I also hope their timeline book that's going to be released later this year doesn't contradict anything 😅🙏🏾

    I don't see why a deleted date is taking precedence over a line in the released film. It's April 29 all the way for me: the May 7 date helps us pin down what Tuesday could be being referred to, but it was ultimately removed and doesn't affect the canon of the established film.
    Also, the script that was released was not the last draft, and there could be decisions made by even Coogler himself (co-writer) during production to change the script. It could fully be the "writers' intent" that there are no hidden days - it just so happens that the writer changed his intent when he was directing the movie.
    I think you came to the right conclusion, it just doesn't have to be quite so complicated :)

    Okay, so... here’s my interpretation.
    The Upstairs Toilet is dated on-screen to "2025-05-07", so we can at least date the film’s main action to the days shortly before and after then, beginning with the ambush at the Wakandan Outreach Centre to 1st May 2025 and ending with the attack on the Golden City on 8th May 2025. The screenplay describes Ramonda’s funeral as occurring “DAYS” before the start of the montage in which Shuri recreates the heart-shaped herb, making it no later than 9th May 2025 (the day after her death on 8th May 2025), if the montage is taken to begin no later than 11th May 2025, the day Everett Ross is arrested. Namor (named in the script as Ch'ah Toh Almehen) presents his ultimatum of one week before Talokan attacks Wakanda again on the same day as the Golden City is attacked (8th May 2025), which would date the ambush on the Talokanil as no later than 14th May 2025. So, the time-frame is roughly 1st - 14th May 2025.
    This would also date T’Challa’s death to May 2024. The script says “2025 (ONE YEAR AFTER ENDGAME)” but that could be taken to mean “between one and two years”.
    If Nakia left Wakanda “six years” prior, that would be c. May 2019, a year after Thanos’ attack, though, as you explain, this would still be soon enough after for it for feel like a recent event.
    There are inconsistencies with this but I prefer to go by the intention of the creators rather than the dates implied or required by the actual film (though I would rather they be the same thing).

    All the live-action DC universes? That's a lot of content right there. If you did the Fate Series that would be wild. You would be bored with any straightforward timeline(s). It would be best if you had something big like the MCU again. Keep up the great work! Get that timeline job at Disney!

    I placed "most" of Wakanda Forever after She-Hulk. When She-Hulk enters the real world Marvel Studios, the production droid tells us the CGI crew left to finish working on Wakanda Forever. 4th wall breaks still count as a story , these things still happened. So story wise.....Wakanda Forever doesnt even exist before She-Hulk . Naturally elements do take place a year prior, but the She-Hulk easter eggs falls flat if you watch BP2 before instead of after.

    • @Geekritique
      @Geekritique  Před rokem +1

      The 4th wall break is a time jump to when WF and SH were being produced in 2022, so nothing changes.

    Am I missing something? May 2nd 2024 would be a Thursday, not a Tuesday. Surely the likely dates for T'Challa's passing would be 30th of April or 07th of May if it happened on a Tuesday.

    The inconsistencies with the timelines are not sloppy storytelling and surely a result of runaway micro-branched timelines resulting in each film or show transpiring in near exact universes (and some even starting in one and ending in another).

    • @Geekritique
      @Geekritique  Před rokem +4

      I’m sorry to disagree, but no, the timeline mistakes in Wakanda Forever are in no way to do with other films or shows on the timeline, as the movie doesn’t attempt to ever once navigate itself around the timeline so as to best fit other projects. The problems only arise with internal timeline logic inconsistencies. I’m not suggest sloppy storytelling, because it isn’t a sloppy story. It’s simple timeline negligence.

      @@davialbuquerque4964 "Variants" are just different versions of the same person from different universes. In MoM, for example, we saw 4 different versions of Stephen Strange, each from a different universe: The one we already knew from previous MCU installments, the one who dies in the beginning of the movie, the one who Black Bolt executed in a flashback, & the one who dies near the end of the movie.
      Kang is Nathaniel Richards, a scientist from the distant future. He discovers how to travel between universes at will with technology (as opposed to America Chavez, who can do it as an innate power),....but so do all of his variants from other universes (as opposed to America Chavez, who doesn't _have_ any variants). The different Kangs have differing personalities; some just want to study the alternate universes they find, while some want to rule them all. Some are able to ally with each other (the Council of Kangs), while others refuse to collaborate (the exiled Kang in Quantumania).
      Does this help at all?
