In retrospect, the Flinstones cigarette commercial is less cursed when you think about how it was originally a prime time show. It aired at like 8pm during its first run iirc

Flintstones wasn't a kids' cartoon. Like Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, and many other older cartoons, they were meant for an adult audience. They only turned into kids' shows later when TV stations needed time fillers for cheap.

The real reason why the flintsones became a kids show it's because the series (during the 1st season when it was for mature audiences) was watched by kids more than adults.
