Vintage Story Desert Life Ep 35: Farms and Paths

- Vintage Story Desert Life is a desert-themed survival playthough in version 1.19, with a large list of mods to speed up the process of building and chiseling. While our builds will all (or at least mostly) be in the desert, we are not restricted to hot and arid climates for the purposes of gathering materials and resources.
This series exists as a series of VODs, as well, but for people who prefer their videos in a more manageable length, the VODs will be cut into these shorter episodes and released throughout the week after each livestream, provided that there is enough desire for this format.

Peat has become my go to fuel for anything that doesn't need coal to fire, cook, or melt.
My current settlement in my ongoing save has some massive peat deposits under and around it, and I have filled several crates with it already
Oh yeah, peat is an excellent fuel (in-game, not so much in real life!). Down here in the desert, though, we're not going to find much, if any, peat! It requires damp, cool climates to generate.
personally Id like to see some new crops, but not a ton. Potatos, Tomatoes, Bell Peppers, for instance. I think those would be a really good addition. I agree that adding too many would just be cluttered.
And meal types... like we have Bread, Cheese, Cooked Meat, Onion, etc etc... but we can't make a freaking Sandwich or Burger... >_>
On October 6 of my current world I woke up to a 1/2 block of snow in my front yard.
Oh yeah, that can happen in temperate climates! Especially if you're even just 20 blocks above sea level or so!
If you want an extra crop you could have Aloe Vera and use it for loads of things, including healing poultices and the like.
Ah, yes! That would actually be a great addition for playing in the south, since horsetail can be difficult to find.

I got stuck inside a trader's chest after sleeping in their bed. It ended my run.
Ahh, shucks, that's rough. Were you playing in hardcore (1 life)? If not, you could always use the death command and then come back for your stuff; you could also go into creative mode to get out.
You can usually also get out either by crouching your way out of the accidental trap, or by repeatedly sitting and then moving in the direction you want to go. Like sit, tap W, sit, tap W, and so on, since sitting makes you 1 block tall.
