Vintage Story Desert Life Ep 46: Adventure in the Northeast

- Vintage Story Desert Life is a desert-themed survival playthough in version 1.19, with a large list of mods to speed up the process of building and chiseling. While our builds will all (or at least mostly) be in the desert, we are not restricted to hot and arid climates for the purposes of gathering materials and resources.
This series exists as a series of VODs, as well, but for people who prefer their videos in a more manageable length, the VODs will be cut into these shorter episodes and released throughout the week after each livestream, provided that there is enough desire for this format.
Want to play along? You'll need the world files and all of these mods (likely) in order for it to work. Download links below.

It's a Trail Ruin from the other block game!
Just a heads up at that last big ruin with the nightmare drifter, there is a bunch of copper and meteoric iron in the bottom mine area!
Thanks, but no spoilers, please!
That's quite a healthy amount of creepytap for an episode. Nice quick tour through Chateau le Browndown, BTW. :D
:D Always a pleasure to explore Browndown!
Pineapples are i believe the only crop in game that has TWO harvestable maturity stages. I think it goes to 16 and is harvestable at 15 and 16 but 15 doesnt have a full yield chance like 16 does Or however many stages pineapples have, so its best to wait for the final stage.
Oh holy crap! You got STUPID unlucky... a few of those Pineapples were between growth stage 11 and 15, when broken they have a 99% chance to yield a Pineapple but NO seeds... so the fact that you got seeds from all of those later stage pineapples means you hit the 1% chance not once, not twice, but 3 times IN A ROW!... depending on how you look at it thats either really really lucky or the worst possible luck ever(3 hits of 1% in a row, stupidly improbably) lol.
I'm looking at the pineapple JSON file, and I think you have it backwards there--there is NO chance for a pineapple at all until maturity (stage 16), at which point there is supposed to be a 100% chance (though I suspect that when growing on regular soil, this chance drops significantly). Stages 11-15 all have a 99% chance of dropping 1 seed; at 16 the average number of seeds is 1.2.
I realize your probably already moving to the desktop at this point, but if you're going to have to lower the resolution anyways is there a reason you can't just lower the resolution on your laptop? I'm sure that would help with the heat. I do kind of remember you saying why you couldn't when you originally got the new laptop, but maybe I'm just imagining things.
Changing the resolution doesn't really help with draw operations; if my graphics card had less RAM, it would help with performance. But also, it would be really blurry and I wouldn't enjoy playing it that way. :\
Hello great videos, you seem to know allot about the game is there a way I can shorten the winter days on an existing game ? Thanks
Thank you! There are some commands to shorten the months, but not specifically the winter months. You'd need to change it back in spring. I don't have those commands ready off the top of my head, but the /worldconfig section of commands on the wiki should point you in the right direction!
Kur!!! So sorry I lost touch with you. I've been ill and had a back injury that caused me to have surgery.
Oh no! I hope you're recovering well! Glad to see you around again, though!
