- Vintage Story Desert Life is a desert-themed survival playthough in version 1.19, with a large list of mods to speed up the process of building and chiseling. While our builds will all (or at least mostly) be in the desert, we are not restricted to hot and arid climates for the purposes of gathering materials and resources.
This series exists as a series of VODs, as well, but for people who prefer their videos in a more manageable length, the VODs will be cut into these shorter episodes and released throughout the week after each livestream, provided that there is enough desire for this format.
Want to play along? You'll need the world files and all of these mods (likely) in order for it to work. Download links below.

This is going to be a bit personal. I just got out of the hospital, I collapsed at work and they called an ambulance. I'm taking a new heart drug and it almost killed me, long story short. The reason I am telling you this, is that after 13hrs in an emergency room, I turned on my pc to find something to watch as I fell asleep after this horrible day, and your video popped up. It was perfectly, exactly what I needed in that moment, and I was really grateful for it. Thank you for doing what you do. You are doing more good than you know in the world.
Oh wow, I'm glad you made it out of the hospital, and I hope you're on your way to better health! Thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm really glad this series could be there when you needed it! :)
On the og rpg topic... Earthbound is fantastic! I adore the music most especially because its insanely good and complex while having a stupidly limited note pool to pull from because of the technology at the time. Its also has a fantastic story to it.
Id also recommend going back and giving Chrono Trigger a try again, it too is fantastic!
If you arent opposed to a good emulator then id recommend the Gameboy Color game Dragon Warrior III, its a MASSSSSIVE game in comparison to anything else of the time. Its got a great class and prestige system and the story is awesome. Right when you think you finally beat it you soon realize you just finished the first 1/3 of the game... xD
Earthbound is great. I didn't finish it but the sound tracks is definitely funky.
I tried to get into Earthbound a LONG time ago, probably before I was ready to appreciate it. Might need to give it another go sometime!
If you used those quarry plugs to dig out huge chunks of ore, could you process it back at base like normal? I got the impression you could pick the appropriate chisel to break it down whichever way you want, would that work?
@@PhilBoswell Actually, you can't even collect ore with the plugs at all! If you use them to quarry an area containing ore, you'll get whatever amount of stone is in the area, but the ore will be left behind.
Yeah i wish Tyron would go for a bit more publicity, a decend influx would allow him to hire some people to fast track things.
Plus is it really a bad thing to publicize a game thats far superior to Minecraft, there really needs to be a true competitor against MC and VS is so close to being just as good if not way better. It just needs a few aspects fleshed out more and a bit more lore content like actual villages, caravan camp for traders, more ruins akin to Better Ruins, and a few more of the current mechanics added to a bit like cooking and fishing.
At this point, honestly after just like 6 months of playing VS i find it insanely hard to go back to MC, its just so basic in comparison and the atmosphere just isnt nearly as good as VS.
Minecraft has better mods, but VS is a better game, and it is not even close.
There's definitely something scary to sudden growth like that, and being forced to grow from a small, indie community into something more mainstream. I suspect Tyron may be grappling with how to handle that transition.
