- Vintage Story Desert Life is a desert-themed survival playthough in version 1.19, with a large list of mods to speed up the process of building and chiseling. While our builds will all (or at least mostly) be in the desert, we are not restricted to hot and arid climates for the purposes of gathering materials and resources.
This series exists as a series of VODs, as well, but for people who prefer their videos in a more manageable length, the VODs will be cut into these shorter episodes and released throughout the week after each livestream, provided that there is enough desire for this format.
Want to play along? You'll need the world files and all of these mods (likely) in order for it to work. Download links below.

This is such a legendary episode. Not just for the bountiful loot, but also for the rare occasion where we can hear the sound of brown pants being made.
Haha, indeed there was an entire drycleaner's worth of brown pants in this episode!!
Kurazarrh's scream nearly as good as Lower Decks' Boimler's scream :D
XD
Maybe one day these type of ruins will be added to vanilla VS, would love to see that!
The sawblade locust spawner is actually a blessing in disguise. Sure its hard now to scavenge all the goodies, and it might get a funny scream or two out of you 😂 But later on its so useful for jonas parts farming and gears.
Yeah, I'm already starting to see that! :) Though I did get confirmation from someone else that these spawners don't run forever and will stop after a predetermined number of spawn actions.
I was going to play solo when I bought Vintage Story about two weeks ago... But I watched so many of your videos and you made it look so easy and fun!
I got into Vintage Life PVE server and have been loving it.
P.S. I also get jump scared. Usually by wolf packs and brown/black bears. I chose my first home near a forested mountain lol 😂
Hey, that's awesome! Glad to hear you're having fun!
Those ruined claymores would make nice decor if you ever planned on building anything Medieval Europe themed, but otherwise I understand leaving them behind
I think they'd be then better if we had a means of storing them horizontally. I'd put them over the mantel!
That actually sounds even cooler
"I gotta check the taps"
Me "its been like 4 or 5 days, hes gonna drop little cubic seraph poops in his pants when he sees like 24+ from 4 trees... "
*checks out taps* "oh 3..."
Me "well damn, i guess it wasnt 4+ days that passed after all, its hard to tell watching 4 videos over the week."
Id recommend checking them every 6 days, or just be lazy and go every 8 for the bonus from the tree. Ive gotten lazy on checking my taps bit the max the bucket holds a max of 6 to my knowledge and it populates every 0.5-2 days from my understanding. So far in my experience every 6 days should yield full buckets and every 8 for sure ensures a full bucket (6) plus 1 from the trees log itself.
Yeah, I think I just didn't wait long enough. This world actually progresses slower than in the Guide series!
Those ruins ... Treasures. And so diverse. But somehow I also like the vanilla ones, where you can guess what the people who lived there long ago did for a living, what kind of community it was. It's like archeology and I really love that. This feeling is unfortunately lost with the better ruins.
Witcher 3 does that, too. The loot adds to the story. That's so rare and I really appreciate that. It's subtle but it adds so much to the world on an almost subconcious level.
The new ruins serve the player. The original tell a story. I'm not sure what I like more, but I think ... Next time I will not use the better ones. I only installed them for the TLs.
But I like the jumpscares. If it's not me. 😂
I share your opinion--the better ruins are NEAT, but they're kind of just loot pinatas, and they're too common to be special when you find them. If they spawned at about the frequency of the regular ruins (or less), they might feel more interesting and special. Instead, it's like we're wandering through a post-apocalyptic wasteland only a century or two after the calamity.
@@Kurazarrh Yes, I too think they feel random. Some are really beautiful, but there are others that simply don't fit into the world. I found a white marble temple thingy once. Beautiful in itself, but come on ... Were not in ancient Greece.
Regarding the labled aged crates you find in ruins. I want to say there are 5 or 6 variants besides the standard aged crate. Ive also noticed that the rarer labled ones actually have a higher stack capacity than the regular aged crates. They look better and have more storage, really devalues the normal aged crates to nothing more than trader fodder, such a shame.
Interesting! I didn't know the variant ones had different capacities!
With such a small amount of inventory space im really surprised you didnt leave behind your pickaxe, shovel, knife, ladders, rope ladders, pro pick, etc etc that you didnt need for plundering... xD
I use Better Backpacks which nearly doubles most bags capacity plus much larger packs to the point of 4x vanilla inventory... and i STILL have issues plundering and taking 17 trips LOL... so vanilla inventory that full while looting hurts my poor inventory management soul. xP
Haha, I'm kind of used to auditing my inventory and being comfortable with discarding or leaving behind anything that's not valuable or useful--or at least less so than the things I actually bring home. But I like bringing tools with me in case I need them!
Cleanup on aisle ruin.
XD
that ruin is from the better ruins mod?
It is! :)
