  • Vintage Story Desert Life is a desert-themed survival playthough in version 1.19, with a large list of mods to speed up the process of building and chiseling. While our builds will all (or at least mostly) be in the desert, we are not restricted to hot and arid climates for the purposes of gathering materials and resources.
This series exists as a series of VODs, as well, but for people who prefer their videos in a more manageable length, the VODs will be cut into these shorter episodes and released throughout the week after each livestream, provided that there is enough desire for this format.
Want to play along? You'll need the world files and all of these mods (likely) in order for it to work. Download links below.

Lol yeah, those Better Ruins ruins are amazing! That one obliterated castle with the meteor yielded more than just a crapton of meteoric iron... i found a Black Bronze Helve Hammer, i have ZERO use for it as at the moment i have a Tin Bronze and an Iron Helve Hammer, both setup in tandem next to eachother both with an anvil. I also still have my Tin Broze Anvil so for the lols i have under the Iron Helve Hammer where as the Iron Anvil is under the Tin Bronze Helve Hammer.
I do wish there were more things a Helve Hammer could do. Imagine if we had Helve Hammer Dies that could be attached to the anvil. Then when smashing an ingot with specific dies would yield different items that are also a pain to smith by hand. Kind of like Molds for pourable crucible metals but for Iron and Steel as well as the pourable if they are already in Ingot form.
In real life blacksmiths use dies on their power hammers to restrict how far down the ram can smash towards the anvil base. This helps speed up and increase accuracy when crafting multiple things in succession. There are also dies for things like Fulers, the indented rounded grove down a sword and some other bladed weapons/tools.
Now lets take that and add it to VS in a way that makes sense game wise. Maybe with a set of Fuler Dies the helve hammer can no longer craft ingots or plates but now has the option to make Knives, Falks, Short Swords (if metal permits), and any other bladed tool that has fulers.

You can put up to 4 helve hammers around a single anvil, so that black bronze one could find a job in your forge! ;)

exactly 33 views in 33 minutes of being up, very impressive coincidence though its a shame you don't have more for such good quality content

The protective suit could be an interesting end game item, made with jonas parts and giving some temporal resistance or as an "invisibility cloak" for drifters.

Such a great idea, and maybe next to cupronickel and jonas parts it would have titanium plates for protection. Whenever i see it in the ruin, i always imagine as somekind of armored hazard suit, and it would be so cool to wear 😅

@leventevig7457 I've mostly seen them near a group of broken translocators, like it was ready for going through, half-life hazmat suit style.

Or very clumsy plate armor! ;)

The stars must be aligned or something because I just got my hands on iron for the first time, and not only are you starting it in this series, but I also happen to be hitting the episodes from series 1 where you started iron in the south. So I’m getting the tutorial twice over. lol

I'm just waiting for 1.20 to start playing again... I hope they market the crap out of mounts and sailing to get some more players to this masterpiece of a game

Tyron doesn't seem very interested in growing the Vintage Story player base any faster than it currently is. Maybe that will change eventually, but... who knows?

Those Cows are totally breedable, i dont think they become domesticated but they do yield a TON of Meat, Hide and Bones... and they can be fed grass. So they are super easy to take care of and yield far more than most other animals.
Honestly though, i havent bothered with the cows yet in my world as i dont have that mod lol but i plan on getting it soon for my next world. Anywho the point im getting at is, ive actually found that the naturally spawning Gazelles in the nearby desert yield a CRAP TON of meat. Like 12-16 per including the babies! After a 30min hunting session i walked away with 9 and a half stacks of meat. My cellar is now STUFFED FULL of preprepared meat/veg and meat/fruit meals. Im stocked for like nearly a year and a half lol and all from ONE hunting trip. I dont know why im even bothering with raising pigs when all those gazelle are just over the ridge...

      @Kurazarrh  Před měsícem

Yeah, the sheer abundance of meat on the hoof is why I'm not bothering with breeding/raising/domesticating any sheep/pigs/goats/cows. I've got soybeans and peanuts for protein, and hyenas for hides and fat!

Haha, well... this was sort of a casualty of the recording issue I had, but I did a "measure once, cut once" instead of "measure twice, cut once" while doing screenshots for thumbnails. I thought the flax farm happened in the 1:30 - 2:25 portion of the recording and got this thumbnail before I knew for sure. XD Whoops! At least we started getting ready to build the farm in this one, even if it didn't actually happen until the first couple minutes of the next episode!
