True self confidence. Changing oil on a completely clean concrete floor. Not a drop spilled. With my luck, I'd never try that.
Purchased that tube and installed it today. Used the same paste for the threads as well. The only difference was that I used Royal Purple and added 1 1/2 oz of Motorkote to the mix. And did a thorough clean up of the engine bay and regreased the front axles and rack. I used 1 1/2 quarts plus the 1 1/2 oz of Motorkote, and ran it for a bit and it topped off perfect. I will check it again tomorrow to see if it settled any. Thanks a MILLION for the great tutorial! And Happy 4th to ya! And to add, I actually was able to unscrew that original drain plug with my fingers, that's how bad mine was! My Kohler is an older model than yours. My oil filter is up in the back of the motor facing up and down, not sideways like yours. But everything worked fine and the tilting tip was spot on!!! True life saver!
I'm glad it was helpful and thank you for the kind comment. Please give this video a like, subscribe if you haven't already and share my channel to help it grow! It would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for watching.
@@JohnsonsSmallEnginesDone and done! Thanks for your reply sir!
Love the quick text edited in, makes it much easier to screenshot something.
Glad you like it! Thank you for watching and supporting my channel!
I just did a replacement of this part on my YTH24V48. It has 3604 hours on it. This damn part has driven be crazy for 2 solid years.
3604 hours, wow. That I haven't seen. You must maintain your machine meticulously!
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines I love it and it is easy to work on. Next item is the transmission needs rebuilt.
Just changed mine on my XT1. Very simple to do as you well demonstrated! Thanks
Really nice video, I have had several of those original oil drains leak where they are screwed into the block, and several are lose. Need the crow foot wrench to tighten them. I agree with you and change the original ones. Thanks
Well, it looks like I'll buy the drain tube for the boy. Hey, has that old yellow style. which does get everything messy. Thanks for the help
I have an 2017 XT2 and my oil drain is a black hose with a nut on the end which works great as it clears the frame as well. Also, my service manual it came with says to change the oil every 100 hrs which I think is nuts. I do mine at 50 which is about a seasons worth of use for me. Thanks for the video. Cheers.
I got an XT2 from last year and the manual says 300 hours, which feels insane to me. The machine is new (never changed oil) but the quick drain valve is already leaking.
great to know about the JD replacement oil drain fix!! Thanks!
Glad to help!
That mower is still in great condition as far being a clean I put the back of the mower on a set of ramps to get the front end being pointed down to get the oil going to the front of the engine
I have a Husqvarna with a Kohler 7000 series and instead of a quick drain there is a square head plug I ordered the drain pipe from Walmart when it comes in I will make a mess then thanks for the video
Great video ! ! ! ! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Respect!
That mower looks like it's right off the shop floor!
Yes just got the tube.
Thank you, Mr. Johnson. I was curious about what my, 2018 Cub Cadet XT1 Enduro series, tractor, oil plug looked like. I looked and it was different from the one you were working on. I have a Kohler engine on mine. It has the filter hanging down and a 6 inch rubber tube from the motor, with an oil plug on the end. But I want to Thank you because, I had changed the oil about 10 running hours ago, and had not tighten the filter tight enough, it was leaking a little. So, Thanks. BTW I Always check my oil level before starting my engine.
You most likely have a Kohler Courage engine? The one in the video is a Kohler 7000 series.
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines Yeah Kohler courage.
Nice, enjoyed the video....what did you use to clean the engine off that clean ?...
Mr. Johnson do you have any tips on removing oil filter from a Husqvarna Z 242F? It has the Kawasaki FR 600V engine. It is a mess trying to get the oil filter off without making a big mess. Thank you for your videos.
yeah clear tube came with the XT1 LT50 I just got
❤ love Canada Merci Québec M.T.L 😮 wow
I'm glad it was helpful! Thank you for the kind comment and for supporting the channel!
I just got mine andthe tube came with it
My tractor came with the plastic tube
The drain fixture on my CC actually jiggled out of the block and stripped the female threads (block side) on its own. Unmitigated disaster. 4-mo old and I'm taking the mower to the service shop today. It appears to me that the fixture was not properly installed at the factory. Let's see how this goes.
Great video. My oil drain wasn't leaking through the drain, but from the threaded end. Couldn't be tightened because it's too close to the frame. Replaced it with the John Deere drain, very simple operation. Thanks for the advice. Also, you're using the high dollar Kohler oil filter, but not the equally ridiculously priced Kohler oil. What's your opinion on using the STP S 3614 or Fram PH 3614 filter?
My opinion, as long as you’re changing the oil and oil filter at regular intervals, you do not need to use the most expensive oil filter.
same replacement drain for Kawasaki FR691V??
Good afternoon Brad I'm Brendon imagine Husqvarna put 2 non adjustable hangers on their decks how would you feel?
Sir, I have a 2019 cub cadet xt2 efi but the oil drain is on the right side. Im unsure the manufacturer of the engine but it does have the same yellow drain plug. I assume the new drain would fit? Thanks.
It should fit.
Great video. Got a John Deere oil drain ordered. What about the air filter? When changing the air filter, do you recommend oiling the pre-cleaner, as the instructions advise? Some oil it, some don't. What do you think?
Watch this video starting at the 23:18 mark and I go through how to "in my opinion" properly oil the pre-filter. czcams.com/video/JNj_MRdH33E/video.html.
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines Thanks for the suggestion. I think the mistake I've made in the past is using too much oil.
Any chance you could do an in depth video of trans fluid change on those? My 2018 XT1 46LT is coming up on 300hrs, would really like to change the trans fluid, sucks you gotta pull the trans to do it.
I’m sure there is a video on performing that task but in my experience with the transmissions. As long as your using your machine as designed the transmissions that have no drain plug in my opinion are as they say ”non serviceable “. I have a loaner Craftsman lawn tractor that has over 1200 hrs on it and the oil has never been changed in the transmission. The transmission is fine. I have not performed a removal and transmission flush due to cost. A customer is not going to pay hundreds of dollars for that service in a shop. The machine normally will wear out before the transmissions in most cases. This is my opinion and my experiences through the years.
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines Thanks for the reply. I'm big on maintenance, do my own, change stuff out, probably before it needs to be, lol. Always take my leaf blower first, then my air compressor for harder to reach areas like the trans fan, I keep all debris off it. And maybe you know what I'm talking about, but that dang channel, under your foot for reverse, dumbest design ever, lol. Learned long ago, when I thought my trans was going bad cause trying to reverse was no bueno, lol, got to feeling around and dang grass clippings had built up in that little, hidden channel, been perfect once I put that into my clean-up routine👍
Great video, I just changed the oil and filter on my 2006 CubCadet GT2544. When I started the engine it read on the display “500 hours, CHG, OIL” in sequence. What does this mean?
It is just a reminder (oil change). Unfortunately most of the time you cannot reset it. Check your manual to see if you can.
My 2019 XT1 LX50 came with the tube. I threw away after the first oil change when it leaked more oil then went into the drain pan. :)
Do you happen to know what thread size and type the replacement Deere pipe is? I want to remove Old Yellar and just install a pipe with a 90* elbow and a plug. It'll be quick enough for me. Be real cheap if it was NTP but it doesn't look like NTP. MIP? Maybe...
I'm not good with pipe thread size so I go with what I know works.
Hay, could you be? Would you be, my neighbor? Would be nice having you live next door.
Dear sir I would like to know if the drain pipe fits my craftsman t1100 riding lawnmower thank you, and I have subscribe to your channel
Depends on who makes the engine. 95% yes.
