Russia's New Monster Vehicle Created to End War Fast

  • Since their emergence after World War 2, infantry fighting vehicles have become an indispensable part of modern warfare, combining the mobility of transport vehicles with the protective power of light tanks.
Despite their impressive capabilities, IFVs have been plagued by some of the shortcomings of both conventional fighting vehicles and light tanks. They tend to be slower, bulkier, and less maneuverable than a Humvee while also being more vulnerable than a tank. However, the Russian army is making strides toward addressing these issues by introducing a new, robust solution that boasts unprecedented speed.
Enter the VPK-7829 Bumerang, a direct competitor to the American Stryker. This innovative new vehicle promises to deliver the same level of firepower and protection as its counterparts but with the added speed advantage. In fact, the Bumerang is set to be the fastest IFV in the world, with a top speed that surpasses even the most advanced models currently in use.
If the claims are valid, the Bumerang’s deployment is expected to send shockwaves throughout the military world…

Fielded in in impressive numbers just like the Armata and the Felon no doubt.

    • @AlexKarasev
      @AlexKarasev Před 11 měsíci +44

LOL. Probably :-) In truth, both the Armata and the Felon are just stepping stones to the next generation, and as such make no sense to scale up. The Armata suffers from the same top attack vulnerability as any other current tank, and it's clear to everyone the next generation design to be fielded would have to have that vulnerability addressed. It'd be stupid for the Russians to widely field the Armata without taking that combat experience into account.
The Felon - nice plane, but a bit late to the 5th gen. fighter party. Stealth is a perishable asset given how rapidly the radars and other electronics are evolving. As someone in the US airforce had said, speed is the new stealth. So I expect Russia will keep playing with the Felon in small numbers but will focus on the 6th gen aircraft. The Felon was late by a decade or so because in the 1990s and 2000s the Russians saw no urgency. This time around, for Gen 6, things are quite different.

A small correction. Not all western-made IFVs are "tracked" vehicles. There are about a dozen existing and battle-tested western-made floating 8x8 wheeled IFVs with armor-armament specs and speeds similar to or much better than VPK-7829 "Boomerang" can offer (most of them equipped with the famous 30mm Mk44S Bushmaster II autocannon and ATGMs) e.g. Finnish Patria AMW, Polish "Rosomak", Candian LAV, or Austrian "Pandur" (105 kph), etc. There is more. The Finnish Patria AMW is considered the best construction among them. All is presented upside down. The "Boomerang" is just quite decent and the most modern Russian-made equivalent to them, an answer to those existing constructions. The truth is that the "Boomerang" is a prototype or perhaps a pre-production vehicle, was not field tested yet, and only if properly funded has ever a chance to see the battlefield.

Taking into account the chest pounding that came out of Armata T14 tank pre-launch, the one that stopped during the Kremlin parade etc, we should be careful about what the real capabilities of this burperang are. Same as with the Russian claims about their t-72 etc., etc. On top of that, whatever happens, I doubt that with the current production difficulties they will be able to roll it or perhaps, if they do at all, they might be able to produce lower quality (lack of electronics) small batches that won't come out in time and won't be probably relevant for their scrwdup invasion of Ukraine. So, indeed, let's see.

    • @arthas640

@@RichardBaran people always go off specs since many countries like the US use specs as the minimum a piece of equipment is supposed to be able to do, so things like aircraft carriers and jets can go faster than the listed speed for example. In Russia since at least the Soviet era has treated specs as a GOAL to aim for while often falling short. T-34s often got wrecked by guns that shouldn't have been able to penetrate the T-34s armor and tanks often had varying max speeds, famously shoddy reliability, and they misfired more often then they should have.

This may be another example, like the SU-57 and Armata, where Russia builds excellent prototypes that fall flat when it comes to export sales. Without export sales, Russi cannot afford to build their new tech. Besides, Ukraine is severely hurting Russia's attractiveness as an arms supplier for several reasons.

The Armata prototypes weren’t exactly all stellar…breaking down in Red Square during a parade exposed that fact. And no one proofed the concept of the crew being tucked away in the hill. Any tanker will tell you why that is a disaster waiting to happen, especially with a drunk conscript Army at the controls. Put a 3” pipe on the hood of your car and try driving around in the woods and let me know how that works out for you.

Another lesson learned by Russia, re SU-57...don't go into developing next gen technology with India. (Of all the countries out there...India?? Really??)
They don't offer any history once so ever in terms of competent aircraft design, specialized factories or workforce that could contribute to its construction, or any materials that could be used.
India would literally just be a financial partner...and an unreliable one at that. (As proven in this very case)

Way back in the late 1980's and early 1990's South Africa fielded 8wheeled IFV's as light tanks in their conflict against the russian backed cuban forces. The Rooikat had a top speed of 120km/h on paved surfaces and it was very manoeuvrable and highly effective against T55/T62 and later model tanks. It easily outran the Landrover defender i was issued with as a camera vehicle and I had to request to be deployed and embedded with the command element of the unit, just to keep up. So, in effect I had a Rooikat as a camera platform during a cross border strike. Wondeful camera platform. At the height of the cuban/russian conflict in that theatre, the south african forces were numerically outnumbered 15 to 1. More than 15 thousand were deployed agains fewer than 1000 south african forces. The speed and mobility of the 8 wheeled ifv's were the significant factor in the south african's halting the advance of an overwhelming numbers of opposing forces. That was in the late 1980's already... unbelievable that the rest of the world still has not caught up.

Good comment. Yip, they were good, as well as a bunch of other equipment such as G5 155mm artillery, G6 self propelled and many more. I know this because I was there.
But ...... this Ukraine war has brought valuable lessons to modern conventional warfare. Armor is not invincible, it has to used as part of a combined unit. The South African border was was primarily a bush war for decades, and only in the last year or so became somewhat conventional. The Rooikat was never used in bush warfare, and sparingly used in a more conventional role toward the end. And just like today's war .... needed support from other units and importantly, needed effective air support, which the SA air force lacked while deep into enemy territory. So, it was used very effectively, but more in a strike capability .... hit and run.

Because of it being a drone present, it's inherently going top attack, so unless these vehicles have an absurd amount of top armor, it's gone. Not saying it’s a bad vehicle , saying it hasn’t been battle tested and I’m sure allied countries will find its weak points and exploit them and will build something better than it, everything has it good and bad qualities, but I believe it comes down to the crew , a machine is nothing without a human

You see things as black and white. Politics is a team sport. The guy who doesn’t agree with you about Russia living up to its claims, must also be vaxxed? And you disagree with this person on both issues… so you are against the vaccine? So this is how you see things, meaning… you’re a conservative who likes Russia, and Putin more than Biden, and thinks Fauci should be in jail, right? If so, it seems like you are projecting here.

Speed, mobility, and firepower. Looks like they're planning on at least some having turrets with four ATGMs and a 30mm, presumably a coax PKT, so that's no lighter than a BMP2. Probably D tier armor to make it light enough to zoom. Only way to put good enough armor to actually protect and go that fast is slapping a bigger engine in there, which means more fuel, but I'm sure they can handle it just like they handled fuel in the initial push towards Kiev.
In other news, do tractors count as military aid? Asking for a friend.
Edit: Finished the video. Kinda painful to watch. Sounds a lot like what Russian manufacturers say about everything they make and what the Kremlin spouts as propoganda. "Better in all ways! More advanced! Russia stronk!" circlejerk. No shot it works as well as advertised.
-The SU57 was called stealthier than the West by the Kremlin, but it has a radar cross section (RCS) of 0.1 to 1 square meters. The F22 has an RCS of 0.0001 square meters.
-The 6B47 was said to have better protection than the US MICH2000s and ACHs. The US helmets have deflected 7.62x54r rounds from SVDs in a few occasions and the soldiers survived. Either the Russian military issues airsoft replicas or the 6B47 can't deflect a large guy's fist without caving in.
-The range of a Kornet is a joke. Sure the missile will fly that far, but the user sure as hell won't see what it's flying at and who knows if it'll actually hit. That's why some Kornet launchers on vehicles launch two missles. The TOW can see far further and actually goes where it's pointed. There are light guided and laser guided versions depending on what's needed.
-The T14 is so advanced that it doesn't have the ability for the commander to look around and have situational awareness! Ask any tanker ever. Even a nice camera isn't enough to know what's going on, much less a periscope.
-The BMP is amphibious... as long as it's extensively maintained and prepared beforehand without the underpaid soldiers selling off the parts to put food on their table.
I would call all of these Russian superweapons paper tigers, but it'd be an insult to paper tigers. It's another showpiece at best and a mass grave at worst.
