      It's an IFV, not really an APC. So some carrying capacity is sacrificed for its ability to traverse and provide support right up to the frontline compared to lighter and faster vehicles with less firepower but more carrying capacity. Imagine if you will, troops being carried 8-12 at a time in trucks or APC's like the US Stryker from cities up to a forward base near a battle. Then being carried from the base to the battle about 10 miles away in IFV's like the Marder, with the many Marders staying to provide fire support for the infantry after unloading them.
      That's how they're supposed to be used.

    I'm not so sure you can call this thing "well-armed", carrying only an intermediate-length 20mm cannon and freaking Milan missiles from the late 1900s, when the vehicle that was supposed to replace this thing ten years ago has a 35mm cannon and Spike missiles, and its competition has long 30mm cannons and things like the 9M117 missile. I get that you want to hype up anything that Ukraine is getting as the best NATO is fielding, and the Marder 1 isn't terrible, just old, but calling this thing powerful in today's climate is a little disingenuous 😆

      I for one, am absolutely happy about the aid being sent to Ukraine. I won't be able to get into much detail without going into extreme length, but I want you to rest assured that:
      1. The aid being sent to Ukraine is not the kind of money can easily diverted away from military spending anyways.
      2. The aid being sent to Ukraine is being used VERY well and to the great benefit of US foreign policy goals.

    • @thekiatty6953
      @thekiatty6953 Před 8 měsíci +1

      Well firstly, I'm pretty sure the US isn't sending any Marders to Ukraine...
      Secondly, that's a false equivalency. Most (not all, but most) aid being sent to Ukraine by the US is from old stockpiled equipment "worth" how much they cost to build back in the 70s 80s and 90s, not what a new version would be worth now. Most importantly, those old stocks of equipment and ammo were most likely not to be used by the modern US military but are costly to maintain and dispose of in the case of ammunition. So, the US is actually saving money in a way by offloading all this stuff and spending the savings on maintaining or purchasing newer kit. Though it does cost money to ship it over to be fair.

      You need to throw out your prejudice and actually take a look at what was happening in the Donbass back then, since 2014, and now.
      Look at the entire situation. During that entire time. Using more than just the sources that you LIKE.
      Don't be lazy, use your brain, realize that the Azov Battalions are hardly worth talking about anymore compared to the Russians they are fighting against now,
      and make the humble admission that perhaps you were wrong. And have been fooled by another kind of propaganda all along.

    Ukraine should stop being given handouts and should have been preparing themselves for the inevitable for the last 30 years since the fall of the USSR. The money and aid sent to them isn’t being reasonably accounted for and it’s getting ridiculous.
