It is not comparable to modern IFVs like the Bradley. BUT it is much better protected than a BMP1 or M113. And that counts more than fire power in Ukraine. But the 20mm can still destroy most vehicles Russia fields. All in all better than M113 with a 50 cal.
It's an IFV, not really an APC. So some carrying capacity is sacrificed for its ability to traverse and provide support right up to the frontline compared to lighter and faster vehicles with less firepower but more carrying capacity. Imagine if you will, troops being carried 8-12 at a time in trucks or APC's like the US Stryker from cities up to a forward base near a battle. Then being carried from the base to the battle about 10 miles away in IFV's like the Marder, with the many Marders staying to provide fire support for the infantry after unloading them. That's how they're supposed to be used.
I'm not so sure you can call this thing "well-armed", carrying only an intermediate-length 20mm cannon and freaking Milan missiles from the late 1900s, when the vehicle that was supposed to replace this thing ten years ago has a 35mm cannon and Spike missiles, and its competition has long 30mm cannons and things like the 9M117 missile. I get that you want to hype up anything that Ukraine is getting as the best NATO is fielding, and the Marder 1 isn't terrible, just old, but calling this thing powerful in today's climate is a little disingenuous 😆

Well firstly, I'm pretty sure the US isn't sending any Marders to Ukraine... Secondly, that's a false equivalency. Most (not all, but most) aid being sent to Ukraine by the US is from old stockpiled equipment "worth" how much they cost to build back in the 70s 80s and 90s, not what a new version would be worth now. Most importantly, those old stocks of equipment and ammo were most likely not to be used by the modern US military but are costly to maintain and dispose of in the case of ammunition. So, the US is actually saving money in a way by offloading all this stuff and spending the savings on maintaining or purchasing newer kit. Though it does cost money to ship it over to be fair.

@@jeckyhauhnar Ukraine is defending itself against the russian invasion. the russian invasion failed and now it's about taking back the occupied border regions. For that ukraine needs equipment. Every military needs equipment all the time. Even during peace time militaries order equipment non stop. During war with the build up of larger armies and attrition from using the equipment the demand is even higher. It's really not rocket science. If you try to use your brain you might have figured that one out yourself without embarrassing yourself here with these stupid questions.

Ukraine should stop being given handouts and should have been preparing themselves for the inevitable for the last 30 years since the fall of the USSR. The money and aid sent to them isn’t being reasonably accounted for and it’s getting ridiculous.
You really have no idea about Ukraine's situation within those past 30 years do you? Much less the past 9.
I suggest you read up more on their history during that time, and a LOT more about not only what sort of aid has been sent to them, but also how it is being accounted for.
