Five nights at freddys review ❤🎉
Editing that as we speak. Will most likely be the next upload. Will be a treat for those who enjoy the rare occasion Jack & I don't like a movie, haha!
I cannot believe I missed the manufactured poverty.
Honestly I'm kinda proud of myself for catching that even if I didn't know there was a term for it
I cannot believe my favorite influencer for the past 6 years watches the same Videos I have been watching for 7 years!
#octoberboy Rule 303!
Not normally a horror movie person, especially the super gory kind, but I had to hear more discussion about this movie's plot and themes after Beau's discussion of it. It's cool to see how much fun people with less nervous dispositions like you have with these movies, though, even if I can't stomach them! Happy Halloween!
Same
You two are adorable ❤. Love the pink dreads lol. Great video, guys. I had fun watching this movie as i didn't read the book either. Probably will read it now lol. Keep up the great content, i am looking forward to more! Cheers!
Thanks for the review #Octoberboy! Now you need to make Jack watch Bloody Mucsle Body Builder in Hell
On my nth rewatch, a few more easter eggs / tidbits showed up. Bud describing how he saw Sawtooth as a boy, on the porch at the old Partridge place (has to be a nod to the book's author!), was after "the family moved to the West side"...implies that year's Sawtooth was the Partridge boy (must have 'won' the run) and just like Jim did, the Partridge boy stopped by his old house. Near the end of the film while the winner's check is being handed to Ritchie on the front steps of the hall, there are four silhouetted men in dark suits inside the building behind them. Their shadowy appearance certainly points to them being some core part of the Guild. Was blown away, as I hadn't noticed them on earlier watches! This movie could use a sequel or even prequels. I wouldn't mind seeing the story of Kelly's folks, or even a future vengeful Sawtooth who teams up with Kelly and goes on to stop other Guilds in other towns. If David Slade makes those I'd watch em😊
Loved this movie!😊 and your review ❤
some continuity was definitely funny at points lol. disappearing popcorn in the Kelly- Richie first meeting, a couple of times times while they talked in the car outside HG.
As has been said, felt like a combination of the purge, lord of the flies, hunger games, pumpkin head, and I'll add Thriller too (styling of Kelly and Richie characters just gave me that vibe), ..... so much fun and heart too ❤
What the ending of the film promises is essentially happens in the book. Jack himself is one of the main characters of the book, knows what happened to him and wants bloody revenge. It's significantly more satisfying an ending.
This sounds like the hunger games prequel we all wanted
#OctoberBoy
It´s the great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. And he can breathe fire!
So where does the #OCTOBERBOY Scale of Evolution place Linus' The Great Pumpkin?
Metaphors, allegories..I enjoyed all of them in this film. The sacrificial creature on the cross, the eating of his body as part of a ritual communion (midnight mass), the Mexican kid locked out of the bunker (border). There are others I'm sure I missed. The film left me with questions, which I don't mind at all. Means I'll be thinking about it long after the credits roll 😊
Happy Halloween horror guru and count jackula were all #octoberboys
You still gotta watch the barn and the barn 2 they are great slashers
There's an obvious theme of repeat cycles of violence just creating more violence but there's also trauma causing more trauma. As another commenter pointed out, Sawtooth stops by his old home. When he does this he can cause trauma to those who witness him. There's a little boy in the window yelling to Bud that Sawtooth is behind him. It mirrors exactly the scene Bud describes earlier, except he was the little boy in the window. If this allegory is about war, then war damages the innocent and the bystanders.
#OctoberBoy
It wouldn’t have been the Vietnam war…. This movie takes place before the US was “officially” involved.
Maybe the Korean War.
#Octoberboy Haven’t seen it yet but I’m digging the social commentary
Hi Josh! Is there a Fall of the House of Usher review coming?
We recorded one, not sure when it will come out though. We recorded a bunch of videos in a row when we did it haha
I rather enjoy the first two acts of the movie, but I felt it fell flat by the third act. But I still found it original and very interesting, as I love horror movies set in in the past.
#octoberboy I did like it overall and there were some great scenes but I really wanted to LOVE it because I find the premise so fascinating and the themes it explores are so my kind of thing but i thought the execution was lacking. Like there was something interesting for a moment about how the sheriff recalls how horrible it was in one of the years when sawtooth jack wasn't stopped which could maybe make you understand a little bit why the people are so scared and so willing to do this, but then the sheriff becomes kind of an annoying cartoon villain by the end of it and all potential nuance was lost. And then there's the thing where no one could leave the town even if they wanted to and how the parents really didn't know what was going to happen to their son when he won which is such a heartbreaking thing that they can't do anything about because the people doing this run the town, that could have been explored more in depth but it's not. But the biggest thing to me was that the two main characters are two people who don't HAVE to participate in the hunt, Richie because of his brother and Kelly because she's a girl, and there was no real acknowledgement of the fact that they in this situation were coming from a place of privilege, like they felt had to something to prove while the other boys are terrified and starving kinda made me dislike Richie and Kelly, like the juxtaposition of them being like "fuck the rules" when deciding to participate and that one boy crying for his mommy to let him in and being turned away felt very odd??? Like the only real turning point for Richie was realizing that sawtooth jack was his brother and that there was no real prize for him to win, not that even if everything was how he thought (that the winner gets to leave) it was still incredibly fucked up? It's definitely thought provoking so I appreciate it on that level but it was disappointing for me because it COULD have been so much better. Great gore though.
#OctoberBoy I did check the movie out I really love it
It's not common to get a horror movie that is both a mindless gorefest and a well thought out social commentary.
#OctoberBoy
Right?
Just so you know one of your fans with 851,000 subscribers and 66,000 views, pined a link to this video because you had an insight he missed. An in case you are into this stuff he is so good at talking people out of joining groups like the Proudboys that he was mentioned by name in Republican congressional hearings about how CZcams is victimizing Conservatives. Plus conservative reporters in major news organizations have done hit pieces on him.
I’m just here supporting a fellow ruster
I really need to find more time to watch movies every-time you put out vlog my horror to watch list just keeps getting longer, though to be fair I would have missed some classics without you guys.
I really like that Aborted shirt.
I'll check out this movie, although I feel like half of your description also applies to A Bronx Tale. That's a good thing, just odd how that clicked in my head.
#OCTOBERBOY I read the book when it first came out. I was happy to hear it got a film. It sounds like they changed the plot to improve the story. Plan to watch it tonight.
and if you survive you will live with conditions that will turn you into a social pariah 😶. fun film that doesn't wear out it's welcome even if the twist was pretty predictable #OCTOBERBOY
Man, can't wait for Dark Harvest 2: Jack Attack! #OctoberBoy
Hi! I was wondering if you took submissions to review?
I'm always open to recommendations, but it's a crap shoot whether I'll get around to 'em.
@@TheHorrorGuru thank you for getting back to me! Awesome. I can send you a screener link, or it’s free on Reveel. The title is A Man Goes on a Killing Spree.
Great review lads, loved this movie it was lots of fun even if I had a few little issues with it. Happy Halloween!
You had me at Pumpkinhead & Sam! Gotta love a fucked up town who are the true bad guys and the monster is simply a monster and victim itself.

#OCTOBERBOY
I am an #Octoberboy
Going to be honest that film intrests me a sequel where the girl comes back as part of an archaeological dig say 20 years later would be fun #Octoberboy also could we do with more
#octoberboy
#OCTOBERBOY - When this comes out free on streaming, I'm watching this. Did you guys watch When Evil Lurks yet? From the same writer-director of Terrified. WEL is my horror movie of the year.
THIS WAS THE HUNGER GAMES MEETS PUMPKINHEAD.
"IT STINKS!!!!!!!"
I like this movie, however I gotta admit that it’s a terrible film for that fact the story boarding and flow are horrendous 😂 when I realized 25 mins in that our main crew was being slaughtered, I knew right then that this movie was about to go off the rails…simply put,if the events of this film happened every year, the town would be a ghost town in less than a generation 💀 then the ending was horrible for the fact they couldn’t commit to one ending so they gave us 3 😂😂 dear Hollywood, stop preventing straight white males from living through your films 🥴🥴
