I have used Quick Performance several times now for my 9" oval track rear ends with full floating axles...Always great quality
Thanks for watching and sharing Gary. Seems like a quality product from a solid company. I cannot wait to see how it performs!
Enjoyed the assembly of the QP 9" rear end!! Your struggle and ultimate victory is always fun, lol. Nice work Brad!! Cheers!! 🤓
Thanks Paul. Why does there always have to be struggle though??? Such is life I guess. I'm glad you enjoy watching.
I just ordered my qp 9in for my gbody cutlass. So excited got mine with the back brace n internal gussets.
My wif3 love me... she got it for my 50th bday and i made sure i THANK HER.. REAL PROPER LIKE...21YRS N SHE STILL LIKE MY TRICKS!
That is one hell of a birthday gift! Looks like you've got yourself a keeper! Good luck with the project and thanks for watching!
@@MontanaGarage 21 yrs she been putting up wit my sh it. And she still sround..around... other then my craftsman metric wrench set....ain't never had anything or anyone stick around..
Yep she a keeper. Last yr she brought my 85 el camino.
And I try to spoil her like she does me. Except she don't have the expense hobbies I have lol
I really enjoy your channel , you and Moose are hilarious and I do believe that you're going to install the Calvert suspension package .
Thank you Mike. I really appreciate you saying so, and thanks for playing along!
I'm digging the progress. Great video. Enjoyed watching ✌️ 😎
Thanks Stanley!
Great video...I'm working on a Ford Gran Torino 9 inch right now...good insights.
Cool man. Thanks for watching and commenting. Good luck with the project!
I ordered one from them as well. I got great customer service and really felt they were interested in helping me build what I need for my '57 Chevy truck.
Sweet. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. Huge help! About to put mine together and install in my 64 Chevy II project. First time with a 9” so much appreciated .
Thanks for watching. I am glad it helped!
LOVE this review, thanks!
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watcing!
I watched the Cal-Trac video!!!
Thanks for playing along!
Good to see your progress.
Thanks Doug.
Yep I love my Quick Performance 9 inch that I put in my 55 as well. The price was better than anyone else and quality stuff to boot.
Thanks man. I can't wait to see how well it actually performs.
I guess the shop supervisor "Moose" gets to sit wherever he wants!!!
He generally gets whatever he wants...
yeah buddy!
Thanks man!
Looks great brad ,nice job putting it together…
Thanks man!
Nice 👍 looks like this car is going to be awesome 😎
Thank you Michael.
I happen to have one on stands in my garage ,,sizing it all up. I do know one thing you may not have covered,,,,the housing is maybe 50Lbs and add the center section and its now no longer a one man lift,,,put the axles in,,and now the "two men" better have good backs,,or use hoists and jacks as its pretty damn heavy.
Ha yeah that beast was heavy. I was able to wrestle it by myself, but a helper would have been awesome. Hopefully you've got yours in place by now. Thanks for watching!
Boy , you could make a big pot of soup in that housing 👍😜
You could indeed. I hope it doesn't make any kinda gear soup in the future....
I agree with your seal method.
Thanks Brad. Good to know at least someone does. Unfortunately, I probably should have left them out for now. I assume I should probably remove the axles and seals while welding on the perches. Oh well, I'll just add it to the list of things I get to do at least twice...
@Montana Garage I don't think you will have to, but if a seal is damaged you should be able to get them locally. I believe those are torino seals. Could be wrong my wife seems to think so.
@@bradreeves7534 Yeah my wife says I screwed up for sure... I assume I can get the locally, just wish I would have thought ahead and just left the out. Hopefully they'll survive the heat.
Great video as always. Thanks for taking sharing your adventure. Takes a lot of time to film, edit, and dress up the video for uploading. Put a sheet over the back seat so Moose has a good overview and can supervise the activity while keeping you out of trouble.
Thanks Terry. It does take a ton of time, but I have fun with it. The seat is covered, and Moose is generally perched there keeping an eye on things...
Nice rear end. I have one for my 65 but went with 40 spline and a spool cause I like to party. Hope to put it in soon.
Dang, sounds like you do indeed like to party. Thanks for watching!
looks great Brad . That should handle any power you throw at it.
Thanks Randy. Yep, it should be good for more power than I'll ever afford to make.
Just spend the last 30 mins kicking my 3rd member into the housing under the car on jack stands 😂now watching you hammer yours in
Why does everything have to be a struggle? That's hot rodding I guess. I got it eventually, and I bet you did too. Great job!
Nice work Brad, what a bitchin 9 inch rear end. That is so Kool Brother, 💯🆒
Thanks buddy. Glad you like it and thanks for watching!
Brad yours mite be a little bigger but my eight and three quarter mopar has served me well thanks for the video gonna be a great 55
Size matter. That is all...
That looks like the way to go vs rounding up individual parts and working with a 30-40 year old housing and third.
Yeah, plus I'm not smart enough to do it that way...
Nice rear end.
Thanks Cory. I get that a lot...
Hotchkiss?
Looks great buddy!
Thanks for playing along Carmelo! You ight want to watch or guess again though....
Thanks for the video I've never said this to another man but you sure have a nice rear end their going to be a killer 55
Thanks man. I'm getting used to hearing it, even from dudes haha. I appreciate you watching man.
Awesome video buddy
Thank you David. I appreciate you always taking the time to help me out. Hope to see you in Kearney!
@@MontanaGarage I’m planning on being there
17:00 min mark, that’s why I’m here. Thanks
You bet man, glad it helped you out. Thanks for watching.
Looks really good Brad. I got my 9" from QP and I've been very happy with it. Just ordered gears and a spool for it from QP as well. For the trivia, you are not using the supplied u-bolts because you are using Calvert Racing Cal-trac bars. Mob on!!!!
Thanks man. Good to hear that you've liked the QP rear, and thanks for playing along. Mob rules!
Great video, too bad about the Go Pro. Most of the channels I watch have similar problems. Caltrac traction bars for the win.
Yeah, every once in a while I loose a bit of footage. Usually I get a heads up and see somethings goofy. This time, just missing like 5 clips for no apparent reason. Weird. Thanks for watching and playing along!
You are using the Cal-Trac suspension! Looks like a nice set up!!
Thanks for playing along!
Man, it sure is fun to get to this point and hang that beautiful hardware! I wished the GoPro's would cooperate better, mine is doing glitchy things too! Poor Moose, the life of a cat! It's too bad they sent you hardware from cheena too but, grade 8's and some hot rodder ingenuity fixed that! It's all progress! Keep up the great work Brad and see you on the next one!
Thank Jeff. She's coming along!
That rear end is going together nicely Brad. My buddy and I are off to the states next week to pick up his for his '55. Your video will come in handy when we do his install. I believe you used Caltrac bars to answer the suspension question. Thanks for another great video. PS. Get yourself an old Ford seat for big Moose.
Yeah, Moose needs his own dang seat! I covered it up, so now he's welcome up there I guess. Thanks for watching and playing along!
Now to weld the mounts all that comes back off again?
Yep. I'll set the pinion angle, tack the perches, then pull the rear to fully weld and paint. One step forward, two steps back. Story of my life... Thanks for watching.
I got mine from Strange in the states, built and shipped down under to my doorstep here in Australia for $5100 Australian dollars. Luckily they built it spot on and it bolted straight in my 57. Different to yours as mine was 31 spline, eaton trutrack and went with 11" drum brakes. I know you were using the Calvert racing caltrac suspension.
I heard Strange are really good as well. Thanks for watching and playing along from way down under!
I am thinking ladder bars and floater mounts. Thanks for the update.
Thanks for playing along Bob. You might want to watch or guess again though...
Great video The whole time I kept on thinking why didn’t you paint that thing before you put it together ? I would’ve did the same thing and those T bolts they must’ve got a bad boxes those great video 👍
Haha yea I bet many people were thinking that. I'll be taking it back out soon for a coat of shiny goodness!
Really nice setup Brad. Should hook up great with the Calvert Racing traction bars.
Thanks Tim. And thanks for playing along!
You are using the Cal-Trac suspension to hopefully prevent wheel hop
Thanks for playing along!
Great looking rear-end you have there. You're using Calvert racing cal trac suspension.
Thanks for playing along Gary!
KalTrac if I recall correctly for traction aid. Pretty damn solid rear axle setup. Something that will not be the weak link in the powertrain.
Flip the seat over and Moose won’t be sitting on the exposed springs v
Thanks for playing along Eric! I ended up covering the seat with a blanket for now, because he will not stay off of there!
😅one thing I do is pick a car that would have had a nine inch like a 69 mustang Mach 1. Then I look up torque specs for that. I haven't even opened my boxes yet. Enjoyed the show keep up the good work.
That is a good idea. I just trusted other folks I saw on CZcams, which is a bad idea. Never trust anything you see on CZcams....
Wow, that will get the power to the ground. Think it was Cal-Trac?
Thanks for playing along!
I’d used a 3 link in my 48 Anglia ( torque bar & traction bar each side. I’m planning on watts linkage but may use a panhard bar
Sweet. I like those old Anglias.

Cat's don't care! But you know that!
True dat.
Was just putting together my Tri-Five Quick Performance 9" this morning. I went with the same housing, but 58" width, 35 spline, Yukon pro N case, Detroit locker and 4.30 gears. I opted for 11" drums though. I'm running a 525 hp stroker smallblock and TKX 5 speed and same as you only wanted to do this once...overbuilt is peace of mind. I had the same fun getting the third member to seat on the studs.
I assume you're using Calvert Cal-Tracs at the very least, and maybe they're split mono-leafs? I have those sitting in my "cart" at Summit right now...
Sweet. Sounds like a cool build. I forgot to mention I have 4.56 gears in mine because race car.. I plan on a Gear Vendor Overdrive, but just couldn't make it happen right now, so highway cruising will be slow and loud... Yes to the Caltracs, and I have Calvert mono leafs, but not split mono leafs. Thanks for watching!
@@MontanaGarage I debated 4.56's, but eventually chose the 4.30's to make sure I wasn't geared out by the stripe. 120 will be 6200 with 28" tires. Gives me some wiggle room to get faster. Overdrive will be nice, this car will be at Drag Week in September...
Love your build!!
@@Zero-Fox-Garage Thanks man. My math told me I should be good at the stripe, and almost went to 4.86 or whatever the next one was. I'm still hoping to make RMRW. Gotta get to work..
Ladder bars
Thanks for playing along!
i believe you used a Calvert Racing caltracs traction bars
Thanks for playing along!
Hi again ; can you tell me what that rear end gasket is , I couldn't really understand what you said. I could use one. Thanks.
Sure Bob, it is called a Lube Locker. Her'es a link www.lubelocker.com/collections/differential-gaskets
Sorry I didn't get to this sooner.
Very cool. That's a nice-looking rear end. I bet you get that from all the guys. LOL 😅 I also have a couple of things I will take care of your cat problem... 🐕. LOL.
Haha thanks Mike. That cat can be a problem....
Cat is a hunter, takes high ground, house cat is spoiled likes comfort. Put a clean towel over seat
…result happy cat
@@kurtludwig6962 Yep, had to put a blanket on it because apparently that is now his spot.
You're going with the cal trac suspension
Thanks for playing along!
You doing anything with the DD Speedshop 57?
I should have an announcement about that soon. Stay tuned!
you are using cal tracs and the Kardashian rear end housing
Haha thanks for playing along. Looks better than any Kardashian rear I've ever seen...
You have Traction Bars to use on it .
Thanks for playing along!
Just wondering as to what gear ratio did you go with?
Thanks for watching Gary. Sorry I forgot to mention that in the video. I went with 4.56 rear gear. According to some math I did, that should work pretty good for me in the 1/4 mile with the tall tire I have. Cruising will suffer obviously. I planned on a Gear Vendor overdrive, but just can't make it happen right now. In the future hopefully....
cpp has traction control to work with pocket kit!!! i win
Well... you may not have won this time, but dang it you're still a winner to me. Thanks for always watching buddy!
That rear-end looks beefy and great. Looks like Moose has found a new perch!! Do you not specify wheel size when you order the brake kit. That's pretty minimal clearance on those calipers!! Unless your balancing weights were mounted incorrectly?? Trivia answer is you bought a set of CalTracs ladder bars and they came with the hardware you'd need. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.
Thanks for playing along Brian. I knew the clearance would be tight with a 15" wheel. I think it's all good though.
Cal~Trac suspension
Thanks for playing along!
You’re using heim joints?
There are heim joints on the Caltracs bars. Thanks for watching.
You had installed Caltracs on the bare frame… In the beginning…
Thanks for playing along!
I hope there’s a good way to remove that third member if you need to for some reason. Looks like it’d be a real bugger to get back off. You’re gonna use the Caltrac bars in your build.
It should come right out. May have to pry a bit to get it off the studs, as they are a tight fit. It'll probably go in and out easier once it is in the car, as the rear will be secure and not moving around as I try and line things up. Thanks for watching and playing along!
It's a nice rear end. Be careful lifting it. Your voice might go up.
Yeah, don't want that to happen.
YOU STILL BRAGGING ABOUT YOUR 9" Brad ???😁😁😂😂🤣🤣
Yep, finally showing it off...
@@MontanaGarage 😁😁😂😂🤣🤣
Cal tracs traction bars
Thanks for playing along!
If you don't draw blood, someone else built it. Peroxide the scratch.
I have bleed plenty for this thing, and I'm sure I'll bleed more. I'll just rub some dirt on it and get back to work. Thanks for watching Jessie!
Ready for blown rat power now.......
Ready for some sort of upgrade in power someday... I better just get 'er moving like this first.
You car needs a hair dryer that’s how you get 1000 hp for cheap $$$
That'd be cool for sure. Maybe someday... Thanks for watching.
Wow, you paid over 3 Gran for this rear end and they provide crappy bolts and washers !!! Not good for Feedback as far as I'm concerned...
Yeah, I was a bit disappointed in that...
