I’m 65 and never have seen anyone use sandpaper on a bearing. Or have to glue one in. At least not an axle bearing. Usually these fit tight enough they would never be able to move anyway. It’s hard enough to get out without doing anything. The fastener plate is what keeps the bearing from sliding out. It’s there for that reason only. But overall a great video for beginners. Good job.
Are you saying the blue towel was sandpaper? I didn't sand paper anything..and the rtv on the seal and bearing is a goid idea because they can leak..I've seen it before..thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe
@@klowny1969 @klowny1969 i think he means when you were holding the axle and said "we're gonna rough up the outer surface of this race right here" and then proceeded to sand it.
I recently ordered a 9" from Quick and spoke with rep about assembly. It is a bit of an upcharge, however its being completely assembled and then shipped. Im having the new 11" drum brake kit with lines and e-brake. Its being set up for, exact fit in 1970 Nova.
Good luck with it!! Don't forget to subscribe 😉

Many thanks for this video. My Quick Performance rear end assembly didn't come with much for instructions. Your video answered every question that I had. Thanks again.
Awesome..glad I was able to help out..dont forget to subscribe and click that bell to be notified of future videos
Question: Does the rear brake caliper install with the parking brake spring in the UP or DOWN position? Brake line tonthe top or bottom of the caliper? Insee that you have yours installed with the springs on top. Can you verify that for me, please?
Thanks for the video Klowny. That back axle is a work of art. All the best for 2019 .
Hey man..thanks! It was a nice rear, they make nice stuff..happy new year to u as well!

What year vehicle would you use for ordering rear wheel seals? I ordered the same kit but mine didn't come with seals.
How do the bearings get lubed if the seal goes in first?
I ordered one for my 86 Monte Carlo SS.Nice footage!!!!

thanks you for the help on the brakes. its pretty fiddly. i wish quick would spend a little time to provide actual instructions and torque specs for the bolts. at this price i expected them.
I hear ya! Don't forget to subscribe
Holy Toledo you guys really make that look easy! Course it helps to have a lift. I can hardly wait to see you guys smoke those tires.
Lol thanks man
i dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot the password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Brentley Legend instablaster :)
@Caleb Alfred Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Caleb Alfred It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!

Thanks for all the information. I know you posted this a while back but I just got mine in today and I’m fixin to install mine, but do you remember what socket you used to install the seal?
you got it! i'm sorry i don't remember..i work on alot of cars..don't forget to subscribe!
Great video. Learned something new about brakes. Nice butt plug.
Thanks sir..butt plugs sure come in handy
I also added lsd additive and it's a true Trac m I doing it wrong its a big big qp housing and the 4 quarts it half ways
Were those bearings already installed on the axle ?
Can you tell me the exact rear you got for the 79 from QP? I have a 78 Nova and it'll be this exact one but the xbody selection only goes to a 72 I believe.
Shoot them a call
Great job and video. Found out how many quarts of gear oil to add. Thanks

@@klowny1969 Will do.
nice job. are you going to paint the rear housing at all or leave it bare metal?
-edit.. nevermind, i see you painted it black at the end of the video. good
I am about to order a 12 bolt setup within the next week for my 87. having some dilemma about how to adapt my current brake setup to work with the moser housing ends. trying to work it all out soon so I can order the rear. then i'll have to bolt it in and measure for a new driveshaft as well.
Hey man..thanks..I painted it black with a paintbrush and rustoleum paint..having a good rear is a must for women and thirdgens!
Great content love the video
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
I need the part # for the brake hose coming off of the caliper, the one with the banjo connector on the caliper. Do you have that?
i mentioned it was from a caddilac, no? im pretty sure i put the part number in there too
I just insatelled the same diff and it took 4 quarts and still doesn't show that it's full need help
What gear ratio did you use
Ultra gray" vs. the "Lube Locker" gasket,, did it leak ?
Ultra gray is number 1 for rear ends..don't forget to subscribe 😉
What type of Yoke did you use on your 9" ? I was thinking about going with the 1330
It was either a 1330 or 1340 don't remember..this was not my car. Don't forget to subscribe
Hello, by any chance do you have the axle seal part number?
call quick performance they might be able to point you in the right direction
I just put one of these into my 91 Camaro. Fits great I'm pretty happy with it. Looks like your using GM flush mount housing ends on that, those backing plates are for big Ford housing ends
what size yoke did you use 1310.1330 or 1350.
First time I’ve ever seen anyone put Rtv on a bearing 🤦♂️
Oil tends to go past the outer bearing..dont forget to subscribe
👍
I am not a lady. Lol. Happy new year, peace for you, your family and all the planet of the earth.

Why would you pull out a gm 8.5 to put in a ford 9?
Planning to put alot of power through it
Now we need to see some stripes made on the pavement...haha
Yes!!
Why nit use the gasket?
Rtv is better
Looks like you used the wrong bearing retention plate. When the correct plate is used, the opening points down and all holes in the housing line up with the holes in the bearing retention plate. For a staggered shock setup, you need 2 passenger side bearing retention plates and 2 passenger side calipers. No holes are added to the bearing retention plate and they are bolted to the axle housing with 4 bolts.
I think I mentioned that in the video..thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe
Are you using too much sealant?
It's about right..thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe
Defiantly dont need all that rtv on the seals nor bearing race
They are known to leak from there..don't forget to subscribe
How much will you sell this for?
sorry not for sale
no copper crush washers?
Where would you put those?
@@klowny1969 When installing the carrier into housing.
No need
lol thats an insane amount of RTV used
That's how much is needed..don't forget to subscribe
All that sealant will end up inside with the gear oil. Quick Performance gives you a special gasket for the third member that does not the use of any RTV sealant.
Sealant on axle seals and bearings is not necessary.
Oh yes they are
Clown car driver? Is this you’re first axle swap?
Nope..check out my channel..thanks
your rear sway bar is upside down
To much silicone not necessary
Its just about right baby..don't forget to subscribe
Welding backwards 🤦🏻♂️
You can push or pull a weld..dont together to subscribe
klowny1969 sure you can weld anyway you want doesnt mean it’s correct or give you the strongest weld possible.
@@mikeeagle2653 yeah..but u are aware that u can push or pull a weld, right?
