Its about the process and the skill you develop after years of being a mechanic and not just a parts changer. Theirs also the pleasure that comes with working on a quality machine and putting it right again. If you are like me you go to sleep thinking about a problem and wake up with a solution .Its going to be beautiful car and I'm sure you enjoy it. Yes it will likely never be 100% done, but that's OK. With your skill set, garage, training and access to Toyota and Lexus networks, I think this is a fascinating adventure in owning one of the best-built and practical luxury cars ever made. Thanks for sharing the journey with us. I recently purchased a 2005 Highlander Limited with with only 100K miles and excellent maintenance records. It is easy for me to work on and very sturdy, as well as a pleasure to drive. I plan to keep it stock as much as possible. I found a 2007 in the salvage yard that had a front-end collision. The interior/exterior was same colors. I harvested a wheel borrow of parts of of it and they are bagged and marked on a special shelf in my basement. I hope to have it through 400K.

    I have learnt so much about how to pull things apart with this series. I have a 2003 IS200 that was nearly perfect when I purchased it from a 95 year old lady. I have almost done everything it needs and now I love driving it. I'm a bit paranoid about something happening to it because it has to be a daily driver. Thanks again for your great videos.

    TOTALLY WORTH IT. ON THE ROAD, THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THE FEEL. IT GOES FROM 50 TO 110 MPH FASTER THAN JUST ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE! And you roll on, totally relaxed on the road. Relaxed, alert, and ready to drive on and on and on! Wow!!! Everybody is jealous!!!

    I’m in agreement. If there is a car that you have always loved and has been part of the family, then cost doesn’t count. It is the love and memories that the car has brought to you. I always enjoy your videos and learn ways to maintain my cars. Thank you for taking your time to make them and sharing your knowledge with us.

    I bought a 2017 LS460 brand new… I never wanted to drive it, a rock chip HURT deep in my heart. I sold that on, bought a 2007 LS460L for $8,500, sank about $20,000 in repairs into it over the course of 4 years but I drive that thing EVERYWHERE. So I understand why you are doing this. The other day, I had my Mom in the 2007 LS460, I wasn’t paying much attention and drove over a parking block with the right front tire, it didn’t do any real damage, but I was mad for about 2 seconds and got over it, if I had done that on my 2017 I would still be mad! Haha my 2007 isn’t perfect, but I certainly love driving it.

    It's not about the cost if you love it. It's a beautiful restoration ........... one that could only be accomplished by a master mechanic who admires the pinnacle of LEXUS engineering and craftmanship. I've been to JAPAN many times and, I too, admire their attention to detail, customer satisfaction, and meticulous pursuit of perfection.

    This car is a classic beauty, you inspected everything and replaced everything that needed replacing along with non oem junk parts which you couldn't live with and neither could I. You wanted this car to be as perfect as possible within reason and you wanted to do all the work knowing it was done right. Like you, I am a car fanatic and I totally understand why you put the time and the money into this wonderful Lexus. Look at it as a gift to yourself for achieving one million subscribers during the rebuild. Congratulations, the car is a Lexus masterpiece.

    3 battery manufacturers are Johnson, Exide and Eastern Penn. Eastern Penn makes Deka and Napa batteries. Johnson makes Interstate, Diehard , Duralast, Optima and many more.

    I thoroughly enjoyed watching you work on this beautiful car, and I admire your attention to detail. About 55 years ago, I was on a training course at work and was told by the trainer that "small things make perfection, but perfection is no small thing." At the conclusion of your video, you mentioned perfection, and you reminded me of that. Thank you for your great videos.

  • @lindanelson8400
    @lindanelson8400 Před 2 měsíci +3

    Amd, you asked the million dollar question. Is it worth it?
    The answer is that it depends. Every car, every situation, and every owner is different. I understand up north where you have salt, that is a big issue structurally. Down south where I am, that's not as much of a concern. At the end of the day if the structure is sound, the drive train is ok, may require some work, and you like the vehicle, or it's a family heirloom, then it's not about cost as much.
    I know I've spent more on my 02 Silverado than blue book says it's worth for resale. But that's not important to me. I love my truck, I love it. So, my motivation is way different from anyone else.
    So in the case of the 430, I get it. It's important to you, it's worth it to you, there's a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction in knowing that things are done, and done right. It's as if in a way, the car has earned what it's now received.
    I think it's absolutely beautiful. 😊

    Your LS430 is looking great, even without a full paint job! I am wondering if you can remove the trunk weatherseal and grind/file down the "lip/pinchweld" that the seal is pressed onto so that the trunklid will fit more flush with the top of rear fender? This would be a whole lot easier than placing a 2X4 in the fender channel and wailing on it! Of course, if the new trunk hinge solves the problem, you are home free.
