Vložit
- čas přidán 13. 10. 2023
- Almost a year ago I bought my Wife her first Lexus! A 2023 Lexus GX460. Fast forward almost a year later and we've had our first accident with the car!
Luckily it was not body damage. But some interior damage which we will fix in this video to make Mrs. Car Care Nut happy.
I also share with you an update on our ownership experience for the past year. Some good and some not so good.

You're not only a great mechanic but also a great husband and father. Thanks for this update.
Family cars and making money with an honest days work. The world needs more people like this. Love this channel.
💯
This is how a family should be, not so alienated where every member treats others like just strangers who are forced to have a relation
Ditto
I want to be his friend. He’s such a good dude.
I went and bought this suv because you bought it for your wife!!! I hope I will have good luck with mine!! I went from an RX to this 2024 GX!! 😊
AMD, as a fellow mechanic, I salute you for your honesty and humility.
As a GX owner myself, I love the GX content on the channel. Keep it coming. 🙂
Agreed 👍
Agree
I agree. '23 owner here and I plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off
Same here, 2016 GX
Remember people, The Car Care nut is making thousands of dollars from his CZcams channel. If that wasn't the case he would repair it without question. By the way that part is almost $400. Fixing it properly would be around $10
From one man to another, I can appricate how lovely you speak of Mrs. Car Car Nut. You are both very fortunate to have such a loving spouse.
The most beautiful thing in this life is to see men who respect, love their families and at the same time they respect their job, and you’re a one of them. God bless your family and i wish you all success.
I wish I was local to you. You are informative and honest. I can tell that you are humble and take pride in your work. I wish there were more master technicians that share that same work ethic and honesty as you have. Keep up the good work and I enjoy your videos.
You are a true example of what a husband and family man should be. God bless my friend.
“Leaning tower of Japan”😂 I love this guy!😂
When u said accident I expected a loose bumper.. Broken front end.. Thank god it was just the scratched up arm rest 😂
I just purchased a 2023 GX; so far I love it. I appreciate your comments about build quality which significantly influenced my choice. I am surprised that yours did not come with a trailer hitch; almost all of the GXs on my dealer’s lot (including mine) had one which I think was installed at the port; appears to be a nice clean installation.
I got my GX in June and it didn’t have a hitch, nor did any of them that were available at the time. I was told they were out of them, but it looks like they are now back in stock.
Love love love my 23 GX 460 premium plus . 10 months of ownership, 18.000 miles and zero issues
TO The Car Care Nut- you have a 3rd option (17:10)- add velcro from Home Depot to attach the mat to the velcro on the back of the seat. Your mat will stand up in the aid, but will not fall down.
You need to apply several strips to increase hold. 1 strip is too weak. Type in velcro strips 4 inch x 2 inch industrial strength strips.
That flaw would irk me to no end. Especially since it’s in view as soon as you get in the car. Glad to see it was an easy fix.
WOW, ok... Another dealership has totally screwed me over. Have a 2019 we bought used, but still under factory warranty. Took it to the dealer with the complaint about the lean. They did NOTHING, and you're telling us that it was supposed to be a warranty repair? Now that it's out of warranty, what, I have to pay for the fix? Looks like my wife's gx is getting a lift kit instead!!! Damn, I'm sick of dealerships ripping people off. This is why I picked up my first wrench at 18 and do everything I can on my own vehicles. Now I'm 51 and need channels like this to keep me informed. THANK YOU Mr. Car Care Nut! You have a new subscriber!!!
I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. CCN and she is a nice lady. She deserves the best.
Thank you Ahmed, great console fix. Thank you for the heads up on the KDSS. Just got mine about 2 months ago and have 450 miles on the truck. First high end vehicle and I’m 69 yrs old. Drives like a dream.
This is why it's so important to make sure whatever you're carrying in the vehicle won't be a projectile by securing it properly.
Objects flying around in the vehicle can kill.
Absolutely. Even though I have like some bottled water and an umbrella in cupholders and stuff, I aim to keep everything minimal in the car for this exact reason.
You were so "corrected". When "Things" happend, those things (like someone sticks the bubble-head or else on the dashboard by the double-side tape) can take-off as a rocket/rock and slam to someone head/face ... Omg imagine that. Ok, I rest my case (yes, the odds is slim...but sure can happended).
I like the way you talk about your wife, God bless your family.
Thank you for a fantastic channel! Because of your reviews and recommendations and my love of Toyota products I bought a 2023 GX460 three weeks ago. Couldn’t be happier.
How much did it cost overall? Whats ur car payment?
such a caring husband .. thumbs up
Mrs. Car care nut means the world to me!!!!!!!! that is real love 😍 hope his lady give the place this real men deserve 🎉.
Great video! Being an existing customer of yours I have a black RX & black GS. It is a chore to keep them clean but look so good when washed. I've always found detailing my cars to be very therapeutic and let the pros like you to service them. Have a great weekend and look forward to my next service at your shop!
Our LX 570 is black and such a chore to keep clean, but satisfying to clean. I use P&S products.
Not sure how old is your GS. Can you ask him to review your car? It is a 2GR-FSE which AMD has not been reviewing yet.
It's an 18 F-Sort RWD with red interior. I talked to him about doing a video on it this past spring when I was there for service. It's kind of hard for me to see when he could possibly do it since I'm a 150 miles from his shop. He had just finished videoing a GSF at that time and wanted to wait about 6 months to video another GS. I'll talk to him about it again when I go back there next spring. It's definitely my baby and only has 14k miles on it and I park it in the winter.@@user-ge9fh5xm2k
Your Lexus GX content is always my favorite!
I don’t blame you for wanting to replace that for your sweetheart , I would do the same for mine, we need more kind hardworking honest people like you folks
😂🤣 Don't mean to laugh, but you are such an interesting story teller. So nice to see kindness in today's world. I see more & more women taking a liking into care for their vehicles. GX looks great Mrs Car Care! 👍🖖
I truly enjoy watching your videos. It was interesting to hear about the issue with the KDSS. I've never heard about it before and believe me I've watched a lot of videos about the GX. I have a 2023 GX Luxury myself and I'm a bit shocked with your gas mileage. You must be in a very congested area with starting and stopping every block. My overall gas mileage is 17.6 since I purchased the car and it's pretty easy to get 19 on the highway. I also have a 2004 Landcruiser and the GX gets about 3-4 MPG better overall.
My 2023 GX is getting 17.3 in 90% city driving. I2 mpg is terrible.
AMD is honest. Let me tell you not everything about your family, country or car you will know or hear about. Why is it that most Toyota/Lexus owners in North America are Naive? They always don't want to Accept the flaws of Lexus or will Accept but will downplay the issue to point of owners blaming themselves for what happened to their vehicles Well, in your entire life, not everything in your car, family, country you will know about or hear about. My coworker has GX and have experienced the same problem within 8 months
@@kerplunk38880 you have no idea because it wasn't meant for you. And who cares if you're not from North America all Toyota/Lexus owners are Naive but the worst ones are from NA
That is a beautiful GX! Thanks so much AMD for all the great content you provide to educate and inform.
You're absolutely one of a kind sir, God bless you & your awesome family.
Dear AMD, first of all -- Thank You for being here, and being the way you are. Honesty, quality work, shear knowledge of the subject matter. Hopefully, you will not only secure your family's future but also inspire the next generation of mechanics along the way. My very own 14yo now is inhaling the car stuff (religiously following your channels, EE, Scotty, and a few others), and dreams to spend the summer as an apprentice in the local shop, the shop I've been going to since 2002 (Advanced Auto Sciences in Acton, MA). Not unlike yourself, they specialize (Honda/Acura but oh well, nobody's perfect, right ;) ), and got my Prelude'98 manual to 150k (sold it in perfect working order when 14yo was born) and got MDX'08 which now has 185k and still going strong. We went with MDX because that's what Dave would service, no kidding.
Now, if you will ever read this and will have a moment to reply, in the "good people know good people" vein -- have you know/heard of Toyota/Lexus mechanics in Boston area? See, after watching pretty much every video you post, we just got a GX460'23 and would love to keep it running as long as it's heart and frame allows. Ironically, the seats are the same color as Mrs.Car Care Nut but the Mrs.Evgeni has a soft spot for white exterior, so that's what it is. Hopefully, she will have many a comfortable and reliable rides to Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Florida or wherever else she needs to go; be it snow, rain, or shine.
Best of luck with the shop and please keep this channel up -- not only it bridges the gap between folks like me and mechanics, but as I said above -- it inspires the young. I hope it brings warmth to your heart to read this. Now, as you always end your videos: "May the Lord keep you".
Your car videos are always on point:)! My wife and I love this vehicle so much that we own two GX 460's, 2019 and 2023. Everything you're reporting on now and previously in your great videos is true! Thank you!!!
It's hard to believe it's been a year since you bought it. What a beautiful SUV. With your help, it will last forever.
Great to hear the GX has turned into a family favorite for you guys! Actually thought about trading up from my 21’ 4runner but decided to stay with it. Really love so much about it and the 15.5 city 18.2 highway mpg with regular unleaded certainly is welcomed! Thank you for a great update on your GX & hope Mrs. CCN loves the wonderful surprise!
I got my wife a 2022 GX 460. It’s the nicest and best vehicle we have ever owned.
Great channel! Glad I found it as I'm picking up my brand new GX460 next week in Toronto. Will be rust coating as soon as possible as we salt our roads up here too. A bit nervous about the KDSS lean now but at least I'm aware if it happens. Thanks so much for creating great, educational content. All the best to you and Mrs. Car Care Nut! Cheers,
One of my new favorite channels! Love the insight you’ve been sharing with all of us!
Love your review an excellent teacher I buy the 2023 GX 460 in September was the owner of a 2010 Toyota Forerunner had it for 13 years I am an RN meaning Retired Nurse lol keep up the good works would like to talk to you sometime take care of your health and family you are blessed 🙏
The two of you are so fortunate to have each other , great vid !
you know that guy that sent you that tool is just tickled to death to see you use this on your ALMOST 1 mill subs channel. ha ha.. keep up the great work
My wife especially loves you because you post on Saturday mornings so I’ll put you on in the kitchen and load the dishwasher and clean while watching!! The Lord bless you, too!!
I do exactly the same thing !! 😂
That's an honest review by the owner, yes these are very very nice old school trucks, I did sit in and considered one before buying my 4runner in 18, couple of things put me off, premium fuel and mpg being the main things, I really couldn't be happier with the 4runner, smooth quiet and regular fuel, right at 50k on the odometer and getting over 19mpg, no issues at all and it travels well and great off road
You are a gem. Great video of how to take care of your family.
I love that gold Camry in the back. Best Camry ever!
I didn't know anything about the other channel. Glad you mentioned it. I immediately went over there and subscribed. Haven't watched any videos yet, but as soon as I finish this one I'll go watch a few. No doubt I'll enjoy it as much as this channel.
As a tall guy I LOVE the side swinging door. I hate bumping my head on liftgates while trying to load/unload things.
I feel the same way, I have never banged my head on a side opening tailgate. Where the GX has been sold as a Prado the spare tire is often mounted on the tailgate and fuel capacity has increased to 40 gallons. The new tailgate design for GX/Prado has eliminated those advantages.
Good to know, that makes great sense, huge amount of space there.
AND, can open the back window of the GX if you want to keep the barn door shut.
I would bet my bottom dollar it bothers you as much or more...it would me too!!! Very nice of you to fix this!
Nice install. As if no one was ever there. She’s worth it!
AMD you are the BEST!! It was awesome that you replaced this part for Mrs CarCareNut. You guys make an awesome team. Thanks for all the great content over the years.
I look forward to your preventive maintenance videos on Mrs. Car Care Nut's GX 460 so I can learn and apply it to my 2015 GX. Love your channel!
I just subscribed to your channel because you have some of the most helpful car content on CZcams. Thank you so much for your videos and keep up the great work!
Amd, I love you channel. I have a 2018 GX and get 17 to 18 mpg on Premium fuel. Most of my driving is in town. And my Truck is in ECO mode most of the time.
Your videos are much better then comparable CZcamsrs keep up the good work
I just purchased a Lexus last month. It’s a few years old but in excellent condition. I absolutely love it. Never had a really nice car before.
My wife loved my 2022 GX, I bought her own GX. 😊. We mostly drive Highways, so we average 19-20 MPG.
The best automotive technical review channel on earth. Thank you.
I hate when things like this happen but these scars and scratches are part of the story. Its too hard to keep the car in showroom condition. You may treat it well but others around do not care. It just ends up eating your sanity. Of course though keep your car clean, stock, and maintained. :)
Good to see you take great care of "your baby".
My theory: if you keep after the small stuff, it’s easier to sustain the willingness to fix the big stuff when it happens. And it will happen.
I’m the lucky 2nd owner of a 2015 Prius which came to me in pristine condition. This summer I replaced the outside passenger mirror because the heating element failed. I could have let it go - the mirror worked fine otherwise - but it would have been the one thing wrong with the car, and I didn’t want to start down that slope.
Love your channel!
Dear AMD enjoy your channel - great down to earth educational presentations. Wish you all the best. Your many comments about the GX 2023 GX influenced me to do the same last December. To date it’s all that you said. The build quality, the V8 and the ride fit me perfectly. Love the lil brute. My MPG averages about 17.5 with the lowest at about 15.5 and 19.5 the high.
hard to believe it's been a year already... I remember watching your GX460 "unbox" video like it was yesterday!!
thanks for posting the update and showing the lean issue. I checked our 2022 and it had it.. sent to dealer and they resolved it. Drives better, and doesnt have the odd looking lean. Thank You.
Congratulations on the new car, it’s beautiful!
You are a Gem! God bless Mr and Mrs Car Care Nut.
Incredible Honesty, value, and top quality in everything you do! AMD, This is a great channel! I wish I lived closer!
Mrs.CCN is a sweetie, and you’re a good man.
Good bless you both !
God bless you both!
It’s really nice the way you express yourself about your wife and family 👍
Good job habibi Mrs. Car Care Nut deserves the best!
Top video as ever, great mechanical knowledge and experience -- and well done Mrs. Car Care Nut for making a safe stop.
It was beautiful when you said your wife was worth the world to you. She is truly blessed and so are you.
Hello from New Zealand. When you were talking inside the vehicle the rip is the first thing I noticed, it would drive me nuts to. I have a 2016 Camry and my wife has a 2016 Rav4, both bought new, no problems with either vehicles so far...both serviced by Toyota. Love your show.
Thanks for the commentary, great video I had to sub. I just bought a 2018 last week and I'm loving it so far.
Hopefully this video gets a million views which makes10 k and the fix is complete. Love the channel.
Its nice to not only be able to afford one of those gems, but the knowledge and know how to repair and keep up the maintenance on them👍🏽❤️
Hope Mrs carenut enjoys the new console
Thank you for the videos.
You’re such a good husband! In 2017, my wife gave her old 2008 Corolla to our daughter so I was going to let her buy a new Toyota, hoping for an Avalon or a Camry. Nope, she fell in love with a light green (Sea Glass) Prius and she loves it but, now loves the reddish/orange color Solar Octane so I’m pricing out a surprise re-paint of her car!!
Maybe consider having the car wrapped. Protects the original paint and can be repaired or removed if needed/wanted. It's pricey for a good job but probably cheaper than a good paint job.
Good to know you can actually get parts like this. My wife also has a GX 460! We love it. It's been great for road trips.
Feels so good to see the glorious GX once again.
I even planned on writing one of these days for you to do a video probably servicing the GX, because it's been a while we saw her. Ever since she was bought earlier this year, I doubt she has been on cam again.
Great channel and advice. Appreciate your hard work…
Leased my 4th GX460 a week ago. Yeah, that's not a mistake. LOL! Love the V8, reliability and simplicity of it all. Great video!
Thank you and God bless you too!
I love the way he loves his family.
@17:40 had me rolling on the floor 🤣. Love this channel and your honesty!
I would’ve done exactly the same thing 😂
Has to be right .
Just bought my wife a 19 GX , extremely clean , however the silver -pewter painted surround around the shifter had some scuffs on it , ordered a new replacement , pretty simple to install and now it looks brand new again .
Wish you weren’t 800 miles away Ahmed , you would be servicing both of my GX’s
Good to know that you take great pride in your wife. I know from what you have said that she will love that you fixed the SUV for her.
As a mechanic my self I LOVE Tekton tools. I have almost their whole collection. For the quality of tool and quality of customer service you get. You can't beat them. I'll take Tekton over any of the big name brands...
No better endorsement of a product than buying one yourself.
Great video
I enjoyed all your reviews and found them very informative.
Great video wonderful instructions and explanations. Love this channel!
Thanks for your videos. Very informative 👍
Heartwarming video, she's the best but you're a pretty great guy keeping her happy.
I have a Highlander Limited AWD, I purchased it used from a friend who took care of it. When I looked up the VIN, it said it came with a towing package (wiring, oil cooler, etc.), but there was no hitch. After going round and round with Toyota, they wanted $1400 to install a hitch. I said forget it and I installed a very nice aftermarket one for $400.
I have the 2015 gx paired with an es300h and the gx handles rough highways so much better. Thank you for recommending the rides. They’ve been great!
I've owned a fully loaded GX since 2016 and yes, it's built to last the apocalypse. Assuming the winters don't rust it out eventually.
Great video I always learn something new keep up the great work 👍😁
Hope the repair went well my buddy
I bought mysef a few years ago a 2018 GX 460 pre-owned, I love the truck so much but when I gave it to my wife and replaced it with the 2023 GMC Denali for myself, that's been nothing but headaches, today I decided to just cut my losses trade it in and bought myself a 2023 GX 460 caviar with black interior. Looking forward too many years to enjoy 2 of the best cars ever built.
I love your channel, and had to say what a sweet video this is! I'm sure Mrs. Care Care Nut was delighted! She is indeed a lucky lady! Just thought I'd mention on fuel consumption: here in Australia (Perth for me - G'day!) we drive the Prado with the 2.8l diesel engine, and I thought you and your viewers might be interested in a comparative fuel consumption: my 2017 Prado (with an off road set up inc 2+ inch lift, off road tires, alloy ECB bull bar, roof tray with installed Maxtrax, shovel, 26kg Darche 270 awning, and in the rear a set of steel draw's with tools etc, and a fridge, and oven, etc ) is 22.4 mp(US)g.. I recently adding a throttle controller which has (even on the lower setting) has improved throttle response wonderfully providing all the responsiveness I've wanted! Keep up the great work! Thank you!!
We have an ‘08 and a ‘22 GX. I’ve purchased hitches directly from Lexus. They both bolt in. The hitches came with the right bolts and fit perfectly. I also added electric brake controllers to them. The wiring harness at the steering wheel has the connector for the brake controller too.
Still loving my 2021 Sequoia Platinum…. Built in hitch and plugs from the factory was awesome. We tow an Airstream and needed a brake controller. Installed the hidden Redarc Tow Pro Elite with the knob that fits perfectly into an empty switch location. No cutting, soldering, pulling wires, it plugs right into a plug under the dash. Looks OEM
Excellent video. Like how you compare the gas mileage to a two-door refrigerator going down the road. 😂.
I had been on the fence for a while about selling my other car and getting a new 2023 GX460. The moment I saw you, my favorite youtuber, get one, I knew that was my sign to just do it! I bought one new, have had it since June, I didn’t get one with the air suspension or the captains chairs since I don’t haul kids. I did have a question though, does the “lean” happen on non-air suspension models? Congratulations again, I love my GX, I’m glad you love yours too! Thank you for your videos.
Yes the lean affects all GXs
