One of the things I love about your Let's Plays is your attention to detail. You're willing to explore nooks and crannies other LPers glance over or outright ignore.
The big ball in the middle of the room looks like the mechanism in a planetarium used to project a facsimile of the sky onto the ceiling.
The Swan's design looks as if Cyan contacted the artists at Bioshock and asked, "Hey, wanna help us build a place?"
You could say that about Myst also.
Art Deco is just cool
@@StrimClocks I searched Art Deco after seeing your comment. I know basically nothing about it, except I recognize the name. However, the pictures I found don't really evoke the same sense to me. I can see some similarities, but I'm not sure it's the same style.
However, I then found this: "Bioshock is built on the aesthetics of art deco."
So, I dunno.
@@Mythraen I think that they are trying to be stylistically similar to art deco while not really copying it. It really comes in from the architecture of the place that gives me the feeling. There are no giant human doing something, but it still feels that way to me. It has that shiny metallic contrasted against the cool polish of the stone that I see in art deco. Your right it isn't exactly there, but still... I feel like it is hiding somewhere.

The mechanical crane trolley reminds me of the suspension system I saw on the Schwebebahn trains in Wuppertal.
Yeah, it's pretty similar now that you mention it. I've been to Wuppertal a few times, but I didn't make the connection while playing.

Thank you very much for playing this. I have my curiosity piqued about this game, and you're the only person I'd want to watch play it.
The camera movement is fast and choppy. That’s another reason why I prefer cyans pre-rendered games. And the lens flare makes it less immersive because you wouldn’t see that if you were there.
I try to be smooth with the mouse, but it's not always easy. Recording in 4K also didn't help, probably, since it does cause occasional stuttering. Lens flares will be turned off later (starting in part 6 or 7 I think).

I completely missed the scrape marks from the sleep pod on the floor in my playthrough. I'm looking forward to seeing what else I didn't see.
In my playthrough I thought they just dragged our body and the marks were blood lol
I thought they were just muddy footprints.

Also, I'm surprised you haven't mentioned that the narrator sounds like a female Esher.

Now that I've finished the game, I see how much I missed or didn't understand when I came thru here.
See the reason they don't want you to play around with the gramophone is to ensure that players in vr don't practice their record throwing skill.

I played this soon after its release (and wound up in the glitch realm several times as a result). I was captivated by the Art Nouveau-inspired architecture and decor, as well as the larger landscapes and storyline. However, I wish that the puzzles had been more challenging/logic-based. (Playing a Curievale version of "Where's Waldo" by finding virtually hidden heaters in ice doesn't count.) Moreover, I missed the choose-your-own ending typical of previous Cyan games.

Wasn’t there something like “the swan” in Lost back in the day.
I just looked it up and in the TV series "Lost", the "hatch" which was buried in the early episodes is named "The Swan"
