He really sacrificed everything, and after 2 world wars he still couldn't have peace. It's good to know in the end he was honored.

This episode made me realize how much I want a Sabaton podcast to listen to the off topic conversations.
I wouldn't know when we would have to produce that, but its a great idea

Fuck yeah Czech communism jokes.
*laughs histerically in czech* Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you...
přesně moje pocity :D
The sad thing is he wasn't alone in his misfortune. So many great men and women were imprisoned and executed by both the nazis and the communists. But the worst thing is that they are now forgotten.
This is why this song is so important. It reminded at least one of our great heroes not only to the wide world, but, and that's the most important, to our own people.
Thank you, Sabaton.

It's a heinous crime to distort history in the way it was because the damage is permanent. Sherded documents can't be peiced back together and tarnished legacies will never be properly restored. It's truly one of the worst things one can do in my mind.
Even worse is the destruction of the country. So many people left to get away from communism.
Why wrap it up? I could have watched that conversation for at least 30 more minutes
more videos to film for us!

@@AndrewMitchell123 look up Soldier of 3 Armies. It's about him
@@dylanholding98 dude I know, I have just literally write that
Czechoslovak legion story and their trip around the globe definetly deserves it`s own song.
Did you know the Legions managed to smuggle five baby bears from Siberia all the way through the USA to Czechoslovakia and gave them to the, at the time, president T. G. Masaryk?
@@plutotheplanet5341 I did not know that. But tbh i'm not surprised.
I agree. That journey is something to remember.
4:07 that armoured train the Czechoslovak Legion captured? That's the legendary Zaamurets. Though under their command it would be renamed Orlik. This is the train that inspires the armoured train behemoth in BF1.
It's kind of telling that being part of the legendary Czechoslovak Legion is practically a footnote in this guy's life.
That is cool
The fact how these heroes like Janoušek or Witold Pilecki were humiliated in the Soviet era is outrageous. Very likely this is why so few people heard about them outside their countries (and maybe, inside too?), if they had lived a little bit more to the West, Hollywood movies would have been made about them long ago. Luckily, we have Sabaton to spread the word about them.
Exactly! That's what I was thinking too.
Soviets cared little for their own heroes. No wonder they did such things to ours.
It's such a shame none of them lived long enough to see free Czech republic, Slovakia or Poland once again restored...
...but we still remember their names.
As long as people listen to Sabaton their names will never be forgotten.
I don't believe Hollywood really would care about them. Maybe some Czech director would make a movie about one of them, but would anyone give him money to do this?
What a slap in the face! It's quite sad that he didn't get to see the return of his prestige and hard earned work. Thanks for the story guys. Episode and song are great ❤
Quite sad indeed, but at least he got to experience the Prague Spring.
That is why we sometimes say in this country "beat up commies, they know what is that for". 40 years of oppression and we still have a political party called "communist party of Czechia and Moravia), that for the FIRST TIME IN 2021- since 1989 (Velvet revolution) - DIDN´T GET TO PARLIAMENT (you need at least 5% total votes for that, btw). Just imagine that shit...
Joakim, your Czech is beautiful 😂
Whenever people complain about having a long journey home, bring up the Czechoslovak Legion and how they went literally around the world.
The guy on that bicycle is called Večerníček :) your Czech is awesome!
Thanks!

Is there a dedicated song about the march of the czech legion? Because I feel like that could be right up Sabaton's alley
I was kinda hoping for that song to be on album dedicated to the Great war. Well maybe sometimes in the future
I could watch entire 20 minute long videos of just Indys and Joakims conversations
We can always do that when we run out of songs

Finally :) I've been waiting for this song since sabaton history started. An amazing song and fascinating story. You guys are absolute legends!
Thanks a lot!
"It's like Lego, easy as fuck." God dammit Joakim, stop giving me more reasons to love you guys.
He just can't help it
His story is one sure damn telling. And the way his legacy and his life was abused by the Soviets is revolting. With this guys, Janoušek got the fame he deserves and a big legacy that is now honored. Plus one hell of a song. One that certainly got me rocking at Graspop.
Hey Evert , das glaub ich dir gerne🤘🤘🤘rock on.LG Alex🤘
unfortunatelly i would guess 90% of people dont know who Janousek was... communism destroyed all memmories, thanks to Sabaton for this!
@@MrRichieHK That's why they do what they do. To tell the stories so they won't be forgotten.
The fact that czechs, who had been betrayed by the british, still risked and lost their lives defending the british, really shows the spirit of our country
He might have been in life far from fame, but in death he will never be forgotten.
He was held in Leopoldov prison? Man, i grew up in that town and i never knew, now i wont be able to look at it the same way again.
Very similar story to Polish WW2 Ace - Stanislaw Skalski. Poles and Czechs shared so many common things... It's a pity, that our own animosities after 1918 were so strong, that we didn't stand together against Hitler in 1938. Let's hope, that V4 will change it in the future. Greetings from Poland to all Slavic Nations!
It is getting harder and harder to act together when PiS are dismantling your justice system and democracy controlling mechanisms. We take it with a hard eye here in CZ.

@@pulsespear9914 what? I doubt they know all languages, maybe he speaks czech because he is half czech..?
@@okurkingcz6882 It was a joke about the "Hearts of Iron" episode. They made a comment about how some fans seem to think that the band knows every language they use in their songs
Kinda sad that not many people know about Czechoslovak heroes. For example, how many people know who killed Reinhard Heydrich? Not many I think (he was killed by Czechoslovak paratroopers Jan Kubiš and Josef Gabčík + other Czechoslovaks that took part in Operation Anthropoid).
I actually did know that (because of the book HhhH)

13:55 "Z elektriky" can mean "from electricity". But here it means "From tram". Tran can be "tramvaj" "elektrika" or in Moravia they use "Šalina" .
Šalina is superior
I used to imagine the devil running out from an outlet"zásuvka", since if someone says stick it into electricity, they mean to plug it into the outlet. I'm from a northern Bohemia village and hadn't seen a tram until I was about eight or so and got to a big city with a school trip.
@@ivetanovotna7949 yeah too but thats cuz am Slovak and yeah, its električka here so i imagines it from outlet

Amazing song for a legend of a man! Thank you Sabaton for telling us about him
Hey there, my half-brother! What is the other half of your blood?

While I understand the machine translation error, it hurts nonetheless :D ("Elektrika", though it does mean "electricity", is a slang term for a tram)

@@SabatonHistory To be fair I am czech and I didn't know it until now... Sometimes I was just wondering what does it mean.
@@thatm4t3s It is kinda old term, from the times when tramway was written the English way :-) If you know Rychle Šípy, their original comics used elektrika commonly :-)

Проорал в голосину с его: Добрый вечер). Вообще круто что они решили запустить свою историю. Я считаю что это должно быть в школьной программе. Потому как из их песен, я узнал больше чем с курсов по истории в школьной программе.

This was probably the best sabaton history video 'til now
Thanks!
" you want us to wrap it up?" Nooooo! Seriously that small talk, i love it.
Joakim laughing is the most precious thing :>
As Czech guy I find almost impossible to sing the ´´Karel Janoušek´´ in the song. It´s not easy to say it slow and by syllables if you speak the Czech fluently.
