    Just curious I've had two of these and taken both back. They both stalled and sputtered constantlyand almost stalled on any kind of bump or slight incline or decline. As if the engine was not getting fuel. Toro customer support just asked that I return them. Unfortunate because I like the mower design and build

      That’s unfortunate to hear, Rick. I’ve had a few times where it sounds like it is going to stall out. I stop moving and it will regain itself. I was mulching at the time. Definitely keeping an eye on this. May give Toro a call if it keeps happening. Thanks for sharing your experience as well.

      Just got one 2 weeks ago. It is sputtering. I am going to put ethanol free fuel in next tank and see if that helps. So many great features but that maybe a deal breaker. I usually stick to Honda small engines but the stow feature is what sold me on the Toro.

      Thanks for watching and commenting! Not to scare you, but there has been quite a few people report an issue where the mower sputters like it is running out of gas. I did a shot video on it if you want to check it out. For some there is an easy fix of making sure the spark plug boot is fully secured. Others are still fighting issues. I’m hoping you don’t have the problem, but your dealer should be able to make sure things are right if you do. I love so many things about this mower, but a little nervous at the same time with the problem. Thanks again for watching!

    Thank you so much for sharing this. I just got mine and this s definitely helpful. The one I got has the battery already installed and it is installed in the exact the way you did except the black thick wriggly cable that you decided to leave it outside the terminal box (to the left of the terminal box as per your video) was secured inside and it actually passes very easily over the two notches and the cover secures perfectly. Not sure if that makes a lot of difference but thought of sharing. But noticed that I didn't get a charging kit to charge the batter, so I am going to contact customer support and ask about it. But really appreciate you sharing this coz I was curious if I was missing anything else and now I am sure of it :D

    • @LucasCobb
      @LucasCobb Před 3 lety

      Correct, the black chord with the plastic covering sits inside the housing to the left of the battery in those grooves that are notched out in the plastic. Be careful when you put this chord in there and put the cover back on as you can pinch the chord wrap and break the plastic. Just make sure it is snug and place the cover on gently.

    This video was really helpful for us as we unboxed our shiny new mower today. It ran like a champ and we love it. Only thing we're not sure about is the electric start. Does the "button" need to be pulled back out after you start it, or can it stay pushed all the way in? None of the information we could find in the manual or online addresses this. Any thoughts?

    Was curious if you were still having issues with this mower? I'm thinking of purchasing a new toro and was interested in the super recycler model but was torn about which engine. I have a toro (20068) with a Briggs motor and it runs flawlessly despite the drive system completely failing and being disabled.I just push it but it cuts beautifully. I've heard about issues with the Toro Chinese motor as well and with the Honda motors termo wax actuator pin for the auto choke. So was counting on the bigger 190cc Briggs but am now hesitant because of this sputtering issue. I'm debating on waiting to see if Toro releases any new models with different feature combinations or just take a chance on what is now available. Your thoughts?

    • @NathanWatne
      @NathanWatne  Před 3 lety +2

      For the most part it’s been running fine. Occasionally if I run over the sidewalk or driveway in the wrong way it’ll sputter for a bit. It’s nothing like what I’ve had in the past. If the Honda mower is an option, that would probably be my recommendation. I haven’t heard if this years models are any better, but for this model, it’s definitely a problem. If you do want to buy this model, I’d recommend buying directly from a dealer instead of Home Depot or other home store. They’ve got better resources and a direct line to toro if you run into issues. Good luck with whichever direction you choose!

    Nathan, your videos are very informative. I've had a Toro 22 inch Recycler that became too labor needy to fix, so I have been looking at a replacement. I was gravitating to this one, even with the challenges noted. But I cannot believe for the price and all its other features, it does not include the Blade Brake clutch!
    So, my quest is to find a great recycler with electric start and a blade break clutch, at a minimum. I like Toro but if I cannot find that trifecta, I will have to look elsewhere.
    (Why is blade break clutch not more standard, especially in these safety-conscious times, I wonder?)
