Scientists did a study of his voice. They said he was able to use parts of his throat along with a wide jaw that allowed him to sing in four octaves. It’s like he was created to sing and perform. He was our Motzart. 😢

Yes that was Freddie from beginning to end. A few people thought it was Montserrat, but from what I understand this was the demo sent to Montserrat because he wanted to do a collaboration with her, he adored her. The collaboration came about and is "Barcelona" album. She was blown away by his talent and vocal ranges that he could easily jump in and out of with little to no build up, he could jump from bottom notes to tippity top, as this recording showed his "tippity top" lol. If you react to Barcelona there is a line he sings "When you walked into the room you took my breath away" he was talking about the 1st time he saw Montserrat perform. She was the best of the best for female opera singers and so beautiful like a butterfly. They ended up adoring one another and it came through so strong when they were on stage with one another, the chemistry was unreal.

Can you believe this is Freddie's voice? That man could sing everything, and amazingly as well.
I do love this, it's him singing the song he wanted to show to Monserrat Caballé and that she then sang entitled "Ensueno" (Dream, in English). You have to check out the Barcelona Album, Freddie and Montsy (how he lovingly called her) are a match made in heaven, truly! He always loved opera, he fell in love with her voice and wanted to sing with her and thank all the gods of the universe they did, and it's the most outstanding album. Freddie could match her opera voice, every time.
They truly loved each other, they truly admired one another in such a pure way. A match made in heaven for sure!
    These 2 are GRAND, LEGENDS!

You really are right. It's not from this world. It comes from a place beyond what we can see and touch here in this world. Like Mozart. We're only now realizing we were alive during Mozart, during Shakespeare, during DaVinci. Only this time, it was Freddie Mercury.

I had a similar reaction the first time I listened, even after hearing all his duets with Montserrat Caballe. It's not just his range, it's the musicality of this piece. Recently watched an interview with Mike Moran and he said they needed a B Side for The Great Pretender, the cover Freddie was releasing. Freddie told Mike to play something classical on the piano and he would warble something over it. Warble? Unbelievable. It was taken to their meeting to play for Montserrat. I am so glad we have this to enjoy now. Although it makes his early loss even sadder.

It absolutely was all Freddie. He recorded this as a demo/guide vocal to send to Montserrat Caballé for *her* part -
When lyrics were added, it became the song “Ensueño” on their album Barcelona .

Just Freddie's voice! The finished song with words is Ensueno, Freddie wrote it and sung it with Montserrat Caballe, you should listen to it next, from the Barcelona album. So beautiful. Freddie could sing anything, even scientist who studied his voice say his voice was the greatest in recorded history. He has several special vocal qualities that singers just don't have, his vibrato is 7.04 Hz, faster than the best Opera singers, also he uses what's called false vocal cords, most people don't use them. His voice puts out duel tones like Tuvan throat singers, it just comes natural to him.God created him to sing. Great reaction.

I giggled inside before the video started when you said ,” you never know what to expect with Freddie,” because I knew what you were in for. Yep it was ALL Freddie. You asked,”Who Is this Man?”
Sir, this is THE LEGEND, Freddie Mercury himself. Freddie performed this for Montserrat Cabelle’ a famous Spanish Operatic Diva. He wanted her to hear what he was thinking about for a song her wrote for her and him. He wrote the album Barcelona for her because it was where she was from. The song Barcelona is absolutely amazing and in it he describes where they first met and how he felt about her. Do yourself a favor and check out Barcelona first and then go check out the rest of the album. He was a huge opera fan, and in particular of the Spanish Soprano Montserrat Cabale and it was arranged that they would meet. As many have already said, he did this as a demo for her. She was the one who suggested they do an entire album together and because of her schedule, Freddie got two weeks to write all the songs which he did with Mike Moran. I didn’t get into his solo albums that much back in day. He did this to bring to Spain when he was meeting Monserrat for the first time. He wrote it for her and she loved it. Listen to Ensueno where they sing it together. Monserrat is the soprano. He sings Baritone. He says she wanted him to sing in his natural range which he almost never does.

If you want to listen to Freddie doing something similar live, watch "Rock in Rio Blues" 1985. Freddie did an amazing vocal improvisation with very high notes.

  • @sharonallforloveandpositiv5497

Unfortunately there are some who do not know how good Freddie's voice is!!.. they only see and remember Freddie for the 80s like I want to Break free and Radio Ga ga...obviously apart from their anthems. Now you have heard Freddie's outstanding, beautiful and phenomenal voice for yourself. Yes, this was ALL Freddie, but the piano was Mike Moran. This is where Freddie goes into collaboration with Montserrat Caballe a famous opera Soprano. Barcelona, the Golden Boy, Guide me home / how can I go on...le Japonaise..sung in Japanese!! React to Rio Blues in Rio..this is Freddie's improv...if you thought his voice was high here....check out Rio Blues..!!! I hate it when people put Freddie and Michael Jackson up against one another yet do not use this song as an example of Freddie's extraordinary voice... He was 4 Octaves and his voice was looked into by scientists...which you can also see on CZcams.

Thank you so much for doing this beautiful and unique masterpiece. I love your reaction. There is some of this type of demonstration at the Wembley Saturday Magic Tour performance: Impromptu which is wrongfully and sadly overlooked by reviewers. Perhaps they just don't realize that it is Freddie's vocals, and not a flute or other instrument. Please do the Barcelona album. The songs he created for Montserrat and his joint venture expanded music where it had never been before.

The media was always so stupid towards Freddie, especially the so called "music specialists". They really never understood his genius, and crucified him for doing the Barcelona album. He did and showed everyone in all specters of music that rock and opera do go along. And after that a lot of others followed his example. But of course he was the one that open, that cleared the way. That alone shows what a great musician and genius he was and to the music industry their huge ignorance.
      Freddie is 👑👑👑👑

I purchased that album back in the day. I found that track disturbing as I was young and ignorant. I don't know why he recorded it but one never knew what to expect from him. I shall now dig down my storage and revisit as well as other less well know tracks on other albums collecting dust. Being an old fart, I'm still not too old to learn. Thank you for your reaction. May I just add that you have the most amazing speaking voice?

I don't know when you posted this I've never seen you before because I don't watch a lot of CZcams videos but the very first time I heard this song and not only captured my heart but my soul and kind of actually described in my entire life this man was a genius beyond people's believe.... I do not know if in this track he was playing the piano or not but that definitely definitely was him singing I don't know if he wrote the music...or not.... But a man truly disserving of the honor bestowed upon him by the late Queen of England.......
