Freddie's voice is instantly recognisable, the best male vocalist of all time at least to me. Someone you see only once in your lifetime and that makes his early death even more painful. Imagine what he still could have given us in the last 29 years since his passing. Thank you for your wondeful reaction.

Freddie wrote and sang this for Montserrat as a demo for the way he wanted the song to sound in her voice. The song she sang was Ensueno’. She performed Exercises in Free Love for an audience and Freddie was in attendance. She told the audience that it was written for her by her dear Friend Freddie Mercury and she asked him to stand up to which the audience gave him a standing ovation. I can only imagine the pride and joy this brought to Freddie to have her perform his song to her audience and then to give him the honor and credit for it. He truly loved and admired Montsy as he called her, and I absolutely believe the feelings were mutual. They became great friends until Freddie passed away and he told her of his diagnosis early in their friendship and collaboration in case she wanted to back out. She took his hand in hers and told him that she loved him and his passion for music and singing and that they would make many songs together. Barcelona, written by Freddie and sung and performed by them both, is the title track of the album and is such a beautiful song in which Freddie describes how they first met and their subsequent friendship. Barcelona is one of my favorite songs by Freddie and it was used as the theme song for the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. Sadly, Freddie passed away in November of 1991 and was not here for the Olympics. I LOVE your reaction to this song so much. I LOVE the way the camera seems to self-zoom in on your face at certain intense and beautiful moments. Keep enjoying. I also suggest you react to or even just watch for yourself Rock In Rio Blues which is from their Rio tour. Freddie’s vocal ability is amazing and the Bluesy sound and vibe are wonderful♥️

Written so beautifully succinct. Yes, she had Mike at the concert to accompany her on the song and whispered when he came forward if Freddie was there...then told everyone the author Freddie Mercury was there and they immediately gave him a standing ovation. The many and varied pics on youtube of Montsy and Freddie together evidence his shyness and love and respect she had for him, he for her too. Once when reporters are talking to them she casually mentioned him being a remarkable composer (or some such words) ..."he composes for me!!!" Freddie ducked his head. Oh my....I really think the Queen brothers were afraid Freddie was going to have them doing opera. lol He did get Deaky to do bass guitar on 'How Can I Go On'. Hearing John on that I cry. Anyway thanks for putting all that good stuff in one place.

HAP3SPEAKZ so glad you are enjoying discovering Queen and of course Mr. Mercury...it definitely is quite a journey and one that is very immense. You haven’t even scratched the surface yet. I am enjoying watching you enjoy the journey and look forward everyday to your reactions. You are one of the best if not THE best reactors I’ve come across because you truly watch, listen, pay attention to details and honestly give your opinion to the videos. I know most of if not all of your Queen reactions have been positive , but you still say what you feel and seem to really be interested and intrigued by what you are watching and NOT just doing it for likes or shares, and that says a lot. I appreciate your interest and true anticipation of each video and I feel like I’m watching them all over for the first time and feel your excitement and emotions too. Have a great weekend and I hope it is filled with more Queen reactions.
As another suggestion, you should react to Keep Yourself Alive from the Montreal concert. It was Queens first release as a group and was not widely known until just recently, especially since the movie Bohemian Rhapsody came out. It really is a great song and the Montreal performance is really on point. Roger’s drumming is amazing and looks exhausting and Freddie is in his Prime. Enjoy♥️

That is humbling!!!!! Thank you Tana! The fact you said, when you watch me is like you are watching everything all over again does mean a lot. I am very much lost for words, I mean you consider me to the BEST or one of the best reactors you have come across goes a long way. Perhaps you need to look more haha. You might change your mind? Just joking!! But honestly, growing the channel has been hard work, and coming up has not been easy. The road is still long, and esp with CZcams. As it can be very competitive, but I do not see the need to compete when you are being your true authentic self. You are just you. Being the underdog most of my life, I do take CZcams serious as this is MY personal connection to music and the world. That is why I had to copyright my writings. I found out (just in time) another channel was jacking my writing segments to FAKE their connection with the audience. This is CZcams, everything is based on personalty and as you said being genuine. How you feel about me, others may not. Everyone is free to make the choices. Just happy to connect with people that enjoy what I do and not for the sake of it for superficial gains as you said. Also I am only able to be this good because of the music quality, productions and the level detail in their work. My other reactions may not be as good. LOL. So thank Queen, and also Freddie. :)

Introducing the Human Autotune! His voice was a gift from God. The 4-5 octave range hasn’t been matched yet to date. There’s just something intoxicating about this mans voice. It’s addictive. I’ve been a fan ever since Killer Queen hit the charts here in the states in 1974 and I haven’t grown tired of listening to him and the whole group Queen. I doubt I will ever grow tired of hearing their music. They paid attention to every tiny detail with their music. Every note and nuance had to be perfect.
Brian said in a documentary that very early on they appreciated the fact that when they were going to perform live they only had that one chance on that one day to be the best they could possibly be so they brought out their arsenal to make their fans have a great experience. You pointed out in the remake of Lap of the gods that it was a start to audience participation. You are so right. Back then no one sang with any band at a concert. The bands of the day just kept their heads down and did their music. Audiences might have clapped and bounced their heads, but thats all. Freddie felt like concerts should be a performance and fans should feel like they are actually a part of the show. That was the beginning of participating songs. Freddie from day one performed during the entire concert. He wanted to put on a show along with the music. None of the songs were exactly like the studio versions. They did that intentionally. Freddie said why would we do the songs just like the studio? You could just stay home and listen to the record! I guess that’s one of the reasons they are still considered the best live band of all time still.
    Well, I have rambled. Sorry.
Love love love your reactions. They are so refreshing and I appreciate your attention to the detail you point out while listening. Queen fans are a great group and a very loyal bunch!!

I absolutely loved seeing the expression on your face hearing his voice on this one! He did this to bring to Spain when he was meeting Monserrat Caballé in person for the first time. He and Mike Moran went to discuss a collaboration and Freddie wanted her to hear that he could sing in an operatic tone. She loved it so much that she actually sang it next time she was on stage and announced to the audience it was written by Freddie and acknowledged him in the audience. They became very good friends and she wanted to do an entire album with him. She was blown away with his vocal range and told him to go ahead and sing in his natural baritone, which with Queen he rarely did. It was a dream of his to sing with her and it was lovely he got to do that in the last few years he had left.
This song gives me chills every time I hear it.

Great reaction! I especially like the eye brow pull up there! This song was actually a demo, it is from 1987, he recorded it for Montserrat Caballe, so that she would get an idea of what he wanted to do.They turned it into a real song, Ensueno czcams.com/video/vZ7OLCPsiiE/video.html, you should definitely listen to the finished product as well! Montserrat Caballe was so impressed with it, she performed it live in Covington Garden in front of the whole opera establishment. She did it to surprise Freddie. Afterwards she made him stand up, and thanked him as the composer. That must probably have been one of his proudest moments, he got a standing ovation from the opera and classical establishment. He was diagnosed with Aids already at this time, so he likely just really wanted to do this project while he still had the chance. From 1982, he always performed something like this live as well, every night he performed, it was usually just some improvised singing to somewhat of a jazz tune. If you want to see something similar live, Impromtu live in Japan 1985 czcams.com/video/FVO5Woq1Whs/video.html. One of the coolest Impromptus Freddie ever did, is only available on bootleg live at Sun City 1984 czcams.com/video/SmSvw3D5A5M/video.html.
This is not really similar to any Queen songs the only Queen song I can think of that might have something similar, is the original Brighton Rock, where Freddie was singing the female part as well, or in Flash Gordon there is a song The Kiss 1980, were he does something similar or perhaps the original studio version of You Take My Breath Away. He did another solo song for the movie Metropolis around 1984, in order to gain footage from the movie to use in Queen's Radio Gaga video. That song is a full out disco song, but he also has some of that soprano singing in that song, it is actually a pretty good song, Love Kills czcams.com/video/YcgBgJCaC-M/video.html.

You might be right with "Don't Stop me now", it is a fast, almost hyped up funsong, but the intro and especially the outro have the same vibe like this song here. I never thought about that before! So do react to "Don't stop me now" at one time. It wasn't a very big hit back in 1978, but in youtube terms it's the second popular Queen song after Bohemian Rhapsody.
Exercises in free love came into being even before Freddie really started the project with Montserrat. It was recorded, because they needed a b-side für the one-off single "The great Pretender", which was released without an album.
The song evolved to the wonderful song "Ensueno", together with Montserrat Caballé. She wrote the Spanish lyrics, so Freddie is singing in Spanish.
If you want to dive into the collaboration with Montserrat Caballé, I'd recommend to start with "How Can I Go On". I's by far my most favourite song from that album. It has a simple clear structure and is all about beautiful voices and emotions. Many of the other songs on that album have a more "overcharged" opera feel, and are easier to get, when you understand how well the both voices fit.

Hello! I still have problems with subtitles, all non-Queen reactions have the option, but magically when the reactions are from Queen there are no subtitles, I do not understand it and I really feel frustrated. Anyway I leave you this here about Exercises In Free Love.
FROM DREAM TO EXERCISES IN FREE LOVE
    the biggest
Montserrat Caballé told that, one day, while they were recording together that pearl called Barcelona (1988) for the Olympic Games to be held in this city in 1992, she entered the recording studios and surprised Freddie Mercury singing in a soprano voice, performing her Particular version of the song "Ensueño", which these two music giants had composed together for the aforementioned album. In the song, obviously, Caballé had to be the soprano and Mercury the tenor. And so it was recorded, obtaining a splendid result, like the entire Barcelona album.
But after having listened, open-mouthed, impressed, shocked, her beloved Freddie interpret that song as if it were a soprano, with that unique, multicolored voice, she advised him to record a version of that form. Mercury, somewhat embarrassed after being surprised by the real soprano, "imitating" the voice of her idol, "the best singer in the world" according to her, replied that she would think about it. And thought about it. And he did. "Exercises in Free Love" appeared posthumously The Freddie Mercury Album (1992), as a wonderful gift "to my dear Montserrat" and to everyone.
And my goodness, what a result! Only the best voice in rock history was capable of doing something like that. Here are the two versions, both great.

Freddie's Angelic voice, It's perfect. This was written along with Mike Moran, as his impersonation of Montserrat's vocal style. She was his idol, he thought she had the best voice in the world. Just think if Freddie had taken voice training, he could have absolutely been an opera singer. To think how good this was with no training at all, just perfect natural pitch and range. Montserrat loved it so much she recorded a version of it with her lyrics and the melody was later used for Ensueno, the song she wrote her lyrics for. This later went on the album Barcelona. You should react to Barcelona. I think you would really enjoy it. Some of the songs are, Barcelona of course, Ensueno, The Golden Boy, How can i go on, La Japonaise and the Fallen Priest. This was definitely far away from his normal style of music and he still jumped right into the challenge given him by his Idol, Montserrat, and completely rewrote conventional thought at the time that rock and rollers don't do Opera. Well, Rock God, Freddie Mercury does and with distinction. How many other musicians that were not in the Opera world would even attempt one song much less a whole album. But, as Freddie said " you don't tell the Diva no." Montserrat was so taken with Freddie as a super talent and a super person that she insisted on more then just the song Barcelona, which was to be performed as the theme song for the 1992 summer Olympics, she told him to write her a whole album. So Freddie set out to do what had never been done and he did indeed. Montserrat later said that Freddie Mercury's collaboration with her opened up Opera to a whole new generation of people that would have never listened to it, but did so because they were Freddie Mercury fans. Anyway, as usual your reactions are so great to watch, I'm so glad i found your channel. With her, he didn't have to worry that she wanted something from him other than beautiful music. He was able to trust her completely (a rare and wonderful thing for him). Unfortunately, they didn't meet until 1987 when Freddie only had a few years left. She was one of the few he trusted with the truth that he was dying. The description of their encounter is really nice. They worked together to do this and time seemed to stop. There's somewhere in youtube a little bit of Freddie singing Montserrat part of a song and his voice is sublime. There's a lot of people who are arguing about Freddie's voice : Was he a baryton or a tenor. Well in this song it's the voice of a tenor I think.

There is a lot of discussion about the subject. This is actually countertenor, because it is done in falsetto, although there is some chest voice as well. Interestingly enough countertenors are often baritones. Baritones and basses tends to have better falsettos then tenors, it is because they have thicker vocal cords. However, I do think there is more then enough evidence to prove that Freddie was a tenor. He was just a dramatic tenor, they have a slightly lower voice then a lyric tenor and they are often good on low notes as well. The operatic range of a lyric tenor is C3 - C5. The operatic range of a dramatic tenor is B2 - B4. Their voices are mostly known for being powerful and rich, I think those characteristics are easy to identify on Freddie's voice.
Here is an interesting comparison that shows how the different tenors sound in opera. Pavarotti became very well known for singing Nessun Dorma (that one opera song everyone knows), Pavarotti had a very classical lyric tenor voice. This is how he performed the song:
      czcams.com/video/cWc7vYjgnTs/video.html
You might might think that sounds pretty amazing, right? Actually it is not a great version, because the song was written for a dramatic tenor, the ending note is a B4, the song was meant for a powerful voice. Listen to a version from Franco Corelli he was dramatic spinto tenor:
      czcams.com/video/sE4EgIG0pew/video.html
The whole songs just becomes so much more powerful and better when a real dramatic tenor sings the song.

@@ZENOBlAmusic Thank you for your explanation. That's lot of discusion : his speaking voice could be consider baryton and in certain studio recordings we can hear him singing some notes pretty low and his falsetto for me is one of the most beautiful I heard unless you can tell me if you know another rock singer capable of this.
I listen Franco Coerlli and you're right his version is much more better. In fact I love it. Thank you very much for this. Give me more example like this.

    • @ZENOBlAmusic
      @ZENOBlAmusic Před 4 lety

@@maximebriochain5567 From what I ve seen, a lot of people don't subscribe to the idea of the speaking voice being the same as your singing voice. Freddie could also at times speak with a high pitched voice. What I ve seen is that in opera at least, some people subscribe to the idea that the speaking voice refers to your louder public speaking voice. It is the voice you might use when you are addressing a group of people, or doing a speech to an audience of a few people. You will automatically speak a different voice, then you might use in a normal conversation. It would obviously be a louder voice, and you would likely use more chest voice. Some people believe that if you want to compare a speaking voice to your singing voice type, then you should look at your louder public speaking voice. I think it is an interesting concept, but there is nothing really conclusive. Sometimes it can be very difficult to tell different voice types apart. Even in opera there are people that sometimes receive training for years in a certain voice type, only to discover that they are really a different voice type.
It is also interesting to compare a Baryton Martin and a Dramatic Tenor. Again here is Franco Corelli doing Holy Night (he was actually a Spinto tenor):
      czcams.com/video/RaiE4NXL48o/video.html
And a Baryton Martin, Gérard Souzay, doing Erlkönig (he also has a beautiful voice)
      czcams.com/video/RaiE4NXL48o/video.html
Here is another Dramatic Tenor Mario Del Monaco:
      czcams.com/video/CrJC7l5Pn-k/video.html
I do think there are some similarities in all of these voices. But the Baryton Martin still has a deeper more distinctive sound on the low notes. I don't think Freddie's voice had that type of sound on the lower notes. In general baritones and basses in popular music sound closer to their operatic counter parts then tenors. Dramatic tenors can also sing quite low. The comfortable range between a Baryton Martin and a Dramatic Tenor is very similar, the tenor just have a slightly higher comfortable range. But technically the Baryton Martin range doesn't really exist anymore.
Here is an interesting comparison, the standards in opera have fallen so much these days, that someone like Franco Corelli can have a deeper voice and sounds better on lower notes, then some of the Basses around these days:
      czcams.com/video/AP4B6cEqZJ4/video.html
Of course it is difficult to make these comparisons especially to someone like Freddie who did not have any training. We can only use limited songs such as Ensueno and perhaps Who Wants To Live Forever live. It is easy to see how anyone could think that his fell in both of these brackets. You are right Freddie had an amazing falsetto, ironically his falsetto is actually underrated. People always look at Roger when it comes to falsetto, but Freddie had much more control over his falsetto then Roger.

How can anyone think any of these people can sing any where near Freddie, with the talent he had.

I think Mike Moran is playing piano. This was the B side for a record he made for Barcelona.

Thank you so much for another great reaction.
This was a démo for the song Ensueño ( Dream ). Freddie always loved classical music, he loved ballet as well. In an interview in Spain they asked him about his favorite singer , he answered Montserrat Caballe ..... Freddie was ready to write a song about her city Barcelona as she requested but she said : can we make an entire album ?
I have this album since it was released and it still moves me . I discovered Queen in 1976, I was ten, I am amazed by the genius of the four., and especially by Freddie's versatility , he was one of a kind. As Roger said when Freddie passed away " I have never meet a person like Freddie and never will "💗
I miss him so much too 💞💞💞
    Cheers from Corsica

For another interesting Freddie solo song: czcams.com/video/c3X6KtQ7nxQ/video.html. House music before there was such a label in 1984 was created for the re-release of the film Metropolis. Way ahead of its time, much like the aforementioned film.
